The Red Wolves square off against the Bobcats of Texas State Friday, Oct. 11 at 6:30 p.m. and play against the UT Arlington Mavericks Saturday, Oct. 12 at 7 p.m. THE TEXAS STATE SERIES: A-State leads the Bobcats 4-1 in the all-time series. Texas State took the first match in 1981, but A-State has won four consecutive matches between the schools, with the last being a 3-1 victory at San Marcos, Texas in THE UT ARLINGTON SERIES: The Red Wolves traile the Mavericks 7-1 in the alltime series. A-State s lone victory was a 3-2 victory in 2001 in Arlington, Texas. UTA won the last meeting between the schools in 2009 by a score of 3-2 in Arlington. CAN YOU DIG IT: Senior Libero Megan Baska leads the Red Wolves in digs with 328 on the year. She led A-State with 47 combined digs over the weekend. Her 4.49 digs per set average on the year ranks as the second best in the Sun Belt Conference. She has 1,895 career digs and is second on the all-time career digs list at Arkansas State. Baska was named to the Belmont Bruin Classic All-Tournament Team earlier this season. SENSATIONAL SADIE: Senior Sadie Clark is tops in kills for the Red Wolves this season with 224 and kills per set with a 3.11 average. She led the team with 32 UT Arlington (11-7, 4-1 SBC) Saturday, Oct. 12 7:00 p.m. CDT College Park Center (Arlington, Texas) Series: UTA leads 7-1 kills and a 4.00 kills per set average over the weekend. Her 3.11 kills per set average ranks sixth in the Sun Belt Conference. KILLING IT WITH KEMP: Junior Sarah Kemp was second on the team with 26 kills during the second weekend of conference play. She is now second on the team with 170 kills on the season. Kemp is also the team s leader in service aces with 21 and is ranked sixth in the Sun Belt Conference with 0.30 aces per set. BLOCK PARTY: Kelsey Sullivan is the team leader in blocks on the season with 63 and is tied for first in blocks per set with a 0.86 average. SETTING IT UP: Jackie Gerig recorded 82 assists in A-State s matches against USA and ULL. Gerig recorded a season-high 54 assists against the Jaguars. She leads the Red Wolves with 630 assists on the year, which comes out to an 8.87 assists per set average. Gerig s average is good enough to rank sixth in the SBC. SERVING WITH CRNCIC: Shelby Crncic is second on the team in service aces with 17 and is the only Red Wolf to have more service aces (17) than service errors (13). A SIDE OF REIS: Freshman Kelsey Reis leads A-State freshmen in kills (104) and total blocks (59). She leads the team in block solos with seven. Reis is also ranked eighth in the SBC with a.301 attacking percentage.

DOUBLE VISION: Jackie Gerig registered her fifth double-double of the season against South Alabama Oct. 4 after handing out 54 assists and recording 12 digs. Her previous double-doubles came against Kennesaw State (Sept. 6), Memphis (Sept. 17), Mississippi State (Sept. 21), and Troy (Sept. 29). ALL-TOURNAMENT RED WOLVES: In addition to Megan Baska s nod to the Belmont Bruin Classic All-Tournament Team, Sadie Clark was named to the Bama Bash All-Tournament Team and the Magnolia Invitational All-Tournament Team, Kelsey Sullivan was named to the Missouri Tiger Invitational All-Tournament Team, and Jackie Gerig was named to the Bama Bash All-Tournament Team. FRESH FACES: The Red Wolves have played seven freshmen so far this season and counting transfers, nine new players have seen the court for A-State this year. FAMILIAR FACE: Senior setter Jackie Gerig transferred to A-State from LSU prior to this season, but is the only player on the roster to have played multiple seasons under Coach Rehr because of her time at Blinn Junior College in 2010 and THE GREAT EIGHT: The Red Wolves feature players from eight different states this season. The states represent are Arkansas (1), Illinois (2), Indiana (1), Iowa (1), Kansas (4), Missouri (2), Nebraska (1), and Texas (5). SHORTEST TO TALLEST: Senior Shelby Crncic has the distinction of being the shortest player on the A-State roster this season coming in at 5 5, while there is a tie for tallest Red Wolf between redshirt freshman Hannah McRee and freshman Kelsey Reis with both registering a height of 6 3. SIBLING RIVALRY: Megan Baska s brother, David Baska, is entering his senior season as a punter on the Air Force Academy football squad and has also lettered two years on the Falcon baseball team. IT RUNS IN THE FAMILY: Senior Jackie Gerig has seven siblings and all of them are volleyball players. Four of them have played or are currently playing college volleyball. CLARK S DIVISION I FAMILY: Division I sports are not uncommon to Sadie Clark and the rest of her family. Her father, Steve, played football at Kansas State before playing in the NFL. Her older sister Destiny played volleyball at Arkansas and older brother Zac played football at Oregon. Currently, her younger brother Trace is playing football at Oklahoma State. BASKING IN THE GLORY: Senior libero Megan Baska has already set the Sun Belt Conference record for Defensive Player of the Week awards in a career with 10. PRESEASON POLL: Arkansas State finished in a tie for fourth place in the Sun Belt Conference Preseason Coaches Poll. The Red Wolves and Texas State both received 64 points. CONFERENCE CHANGES: For the 2013 season, the Sun Belt Conference will use a double round-robin format where each team will play each other twice. With 10 members in the conference, this will equal 18 conference matches for the Red Wolves. The SBC also welcomes three new members to the conference in Georgia State, Texas State, and UT Arlington. LAST TIME OUT: JONESBORO, Ark. (10/6/13) The Arkansas State volleyball team suffered its first home loss of the season to Louisiana-Lafayette Sunday afternoon by a score of 3-0 (25-17, 25-22, 25-19). The Ragin Cajuns (12-7, 2-3 SBC) came out on fire in the first set by taking a 10-4 lead. A Kendal Davis kill got the Red Wolves within five points at 17-12, but A-State (7-12, 3-2 SBC) wouldn t get any closer as ULL closed the set out on an 8-5 run to take the first game The second set didn t get off to a much better start for A-State as the Ragin Cajuns jumped out to a quick 4-0 lead, but the Red Wolves battled back to within one point at 9-8 on a Kelsey Reis and Sadie Clark block. ULL responded with a 6-2 run

The Red Wolves got within two points at on a Kelsey Sullivan block and Louisiana-Lafayette called a timeout. After the timeout, ULL used a 6-3 run to take a lead, but A-State got within two points at on a Ragin Cajun attack error. ULL used its second timeout and was able to record a kill to take the second set Facing a 2-0 deficit entering the third set, the Red Wolves tied it up at 4-4 early after a Sullivan kill. A Louisiana- Lafayette 5-0 run put the Ragin Cajun lead at 9-4 before A-State was able to battle back within two points at after a Clark kill. Once again, ULL responded with a 5-1 run to regain control of the set at A Davis kill got the Red Wolves back within three points at 22-19, but a 3-0 run by Louisiana-Lafayette gave the Ragin Cajuns a third set victory and 3-0 match win over Arkansas State. We embarrassed ourselves today and overlooked a very good opponent, A-State volleyball coach David Rehr said. We expected to be like the matches before where we came back in five and stole the win. I m tired of the excuses. I was disappointed from the get go today. We re going to have a good week in practice though, I guarantee that. Clark led the Red Wolves in kills with 12 during the game, while Sarah Kemp recorded 10 kills of her own. Jackie Gerig handed out 28 assists during the match, while Mallory Warrington and Jessica Heuertz each recorded one service ace each. Defensively, Megan Baska led A-State with 19 digs, while Sullivan, Reis, and Clark each had two blocks. Arkansas State returns to action when they travel to Texas to take on the Texas State Bobcats Oct. 11 at 6:30 p.m. in San Marcos, Texas and the UT-Arlington Mavericks Oct. 12 at 7 p.m. in Arlington, Texas.
