6 TSD Rally Tuesday, June 23 ($15 per car) The TSD Rally will take you around the beautiful hills, valleys and farmlands of Southern Indiana in a rally sharpened for your driving pleasure. It will delight the novice and challenge the experts! It will start at the West Baden Springs Hotel and end at the French Lick Springs Hotel and take less than four hours to run including breaks (with real bathrooms at the mid-break point) and covers approximately 110 miles. You will be back in time for the start of the traditional ice cream social! Whether you have never rallied before or just want a refresher, be sure to attend the TSD Rally School on Monday June 22 from 3:30 5 pm. Our TSD Rally School is designed for the novice and taught by past TSD Rally champions. You will learn about the rally, what to bring, tips for staying on time, along with rally generals (what are they and how to use them), terminology, how to fill out a score sheet and what to do at a checkpoint. Only the entrant or co-entrant who is bringing the rally Porsche should register for the rally. If you are driving or navigating another Parade entrant s Porsche, the other entrant must register for the rally and include your name on their rally registration. Junior Participation Program (JPP) members may not drive in the Rally but may navigate with either of their sponsoring PCA member driving. College Age Family Program (CAFP) members may either drive or navigate in the rally. Be sure to see the current Parade Competition Rules (PCRs) for definitions of the current rally classes offered (Unequipped Navigational was added in 2014 and brings available rally classes to five). The use of GPS Navigation systems (both factory and portable) has been clarified. Entrants are responsible for classifying their own vehicle. Michelin Autocross Wednesday and Thursday, June 24 and 25 ($30 per person) The Autocross will be held at nearby French Lick Municipal Airport, approximately six miles from Parade Central. Once again, it is scheduled for two days allowing plenty of time for all who want to participate. There is more than 3000 of the 100 wide main runway on which to lay out the course! The surface appears to be newer asphalt, but PCA Parade entrants will be the first to autocross on this site so the grip level is uncertain. In order to ensure a fun time for the many less experienced entrants that attend Parade, the course will emphasize flow and higher average speed, and it should be easier to stay oriented given that the site is long and narrow. Watch the Parade website for comments on the course and site conditions after the course layout and safety test at the end of March. Set aside 4:30 5:30 pm on Monday, June 22 for the Autocross Chalk Talk. There will be analysis and video of the course and a chance to learn tips and techniques. Especially important for less experienced participants: there will be an opportunity to walk and study the course on Tuesday June 17 from 3:30 5:30 pm with an instructor-led portion from 4 5 pm. The course will also be open on Wednesday June 24 from 7:30 8:30 am and 4 5 pm and Thursday June 25 from 7:30 8:30 am. All Porsches entered in the autocross must pass the Parade Safety Technical Inspection. Hours: Sunday, Monday and Wednesday 1 4 pm, or by appointment (arrange during Parade Check-In). Registered Junior Participation Program (JPP) members and College Age Family Program (CAFP) members with a valid driver s license may participate in the autocross in the same Porsche and same as the parent(s). 6

7 The run schedule for the autocross should be all Showroom Stock cars (S01 through S12) and the first two Production category cars (P01 and P02) running on Wednesday with the balance of the Production category (P03 through P16) along with all Improved and Modified classes running on Thursday. Check the Parade website for details. Study the PCRs to determine the proper autocross class to enter. There are separate classes for men and for women, so be sure to choose appropriately. Note the P classes now have the same 140 tread wear rating requirements of the S classes this year. It is your responsibility to correctly classify your Porsche. Tire Rack Street Survival (TRSS) Car Control Clinic Tuesday, June 23 ($25 per person) The Street Survival Car Control Clinic is back by popular request and will be held at the French Lick Municipal Airport (six miles from Parade Central). This program was developed by Street Survival, an independent foundation established for the purpose of teen driving safety enhancement. While focused on JPP/CAFP participants (they will receive first priority), adults are welcome as well! The Clinic combines knowledge and experience (classroom and driving drills) that are needed to enhance safety during emergency driving maneuvers. The topics in the classroom include proper seating position/hand positions, mirror placement, the concept of the contact patch of tires, theories of weight transfer, use of long distance vision and situational awareness. In-car exercises will be discussed so there is an understanding of what the exercise is designed to teach and how to best perform it. The driving drills will be performed in the student s car with an experienced instructor in the passenger seat offering driving tips and techniques. Gimmick Rally Thursday, June 25 ($40 per car) Rally to the Roses is the theme for this year s Gimmick Rally with our destination the Churchill Downs Derby Museum! Total rally time is 5-6 hours, including 1.5 hours at the museum and racetrack. Driving distance: 120 miles. Entrance to be museum will be required to answer all the gimmick questions. The Derby Café is available for lunch, and we will have reserved PCA Only Parking at Churchill Downs. Rally Scoring (you must return by 4:30 pm if you wish to be scored) occurs in the 1875 Restaurant Silver Room for a Kentucky Derby themed tie-breaker/social (mint juleps available for purchase). Wear your fancy hat! During Parade Check-In, you will choose your competition class (either Two-Person or Two-Plus Passengers) depending upon the number of people in your vehicle (minimum of two). You may enter as a pair, a family or join in with friends; and you may drive a Porsche, rental car, tow vehicle or other but it must have as many seat belts as passengers. You also can change your class if your plans change during Parade Week. ONLY the DRIVER should register for this event. NOTE: PCA insurance restrictions prohibit participation by anyone who is NOT registered for Parade. Thus, you cannot have a friend or family member, adult or minor, ride along unless they are registered. There will be no exceptions. 7

8 Technical and Historical Quiz Friday, June 26 ($15 per person) The Technical and Historical Quiz will be a written test of your knowledge of general, mechanical, and historic aspects of the Porsche family, business and model lines. You will be able to test your knowledge with questions from the PCA Tech Committee, a special selection from Dieter Landenberger (Porsche Museum Historian) and some commemorating the 60 th Anniversary of PCA. There will be 50 General questions that will be the same of all participants, 25 additional questions for Specific Model Ranges (you choose which model) and 5 Tiebreaker questions for everyone that will NOT count in your score but will only be used to settle tie scores if they occur. For the Overall Awards the score will be weighted toward the General History and Technical questions; for the Model Specific Awards the score will be weighted toward the Model Specific questions. The questions will be multiple choice and true/false. The bibliography of publications used for the questions will be posted on the Parade website two months prior to Parade. Allotted Quiz Time: 90 minutes. Art Show All Parade entrants who are artists, crafters and Porsche aficionados are invited to participate in the Art Show at French Lick what a great opportunity to share your creative side with other Parade attendees. Seasoned judges select the leading achievements in each category, besides the Best of Show and People s Choice Awards. Complete guidelines, rules and entrant application will be available on the Parade website in mid-march. Volunteers Volunteers are the formula to make the Parade a success you help to make this extraordinary week run smoothly. In fact, our Parade is 99% volunteer supported! Seminar Historic Domes of the World Monday, June 22 1:30 PM Listen to the fascinating history of the West Baden Springs Hotel dome, known as the eighth wonder of the world. It was the largest free-standing dome until the Houston Astrodome was built in The steel framework of 24 girder ribs that each weigh 4.5 tons, is connected to a central drum and soars eight stories above the intricate mosaic floor. The dome spans 195 feet across the atrium and because of its size, in order to compensate for expansion and contraction of the roof, each span rides on rollers that in turn rest on columns and move dependent upon the outside temperature. Once you view it, you will understand why facts and figures do not do it justice and be somewhat in awe. Mrs. Gayle Cook (along with her late husband Bill, and son Carl, led the decade long renovation efforts at French Lick Resort) will offer her presentation about domes and their timeless appeal. Culinary Delights!: BBQ & Blues Monday, June 22 5:30 7:30 PM - $30 per person Come view this culinary demonstration on BBQ preparation and cooking with Chef David Lee Burns from Hagen s Club House Restaurant.
