1 Traffic Signals at Bike Boulevards A Review of Eight Locations in Seattle Presented at ITE Western District Annual Meeting July 13 th, 2016

2 Introduction What? Analysis of eight intersections before and after signal installation or modifications (six more than the prior case study) All intersections were along a bike boulevard Review of potential crossing treatments Why? To determine whether the 2012 Case Study findings were consistent to other sites.

18 Conclusions Bike and pedestrian volumes increased while motor vehicle volumes remained relatively constant Collision rates decreased at all locations following signal installation Collision rates remained constant at locations with existing signals after modifications Severity of collisions at both signals decreased following the signal installation
