No refunds unless a trip has been cancelled or if a medical note is presented. PLEASE NOTE: All trips require walking and managing of stairs (even to get onto the bus). Please be prepared to be outside, dress appropriately for our Alberta weather and wear comfortable walking shoes. If you have any special dietary requirements please notify us upon registering. Not all safaris are appropriate for people with disabilities, please check with a staff person if you are unsure before registering. Seniors with special needs must bring an assistant with them who must also register.

2 Stony Plain Mural Tour Thursday, July 5th Bus Leaves Centre: 9:30 am Returns around: 4:00 pm Cost: $51 (Non-members: $81) Originally known as Dog Rump Creek, Stony Plain is the town also known as The Town with the Painted Past. There are two possible origins of the towns current name. One being that the Stoney people were the original inhabitants of this land. The second comes from Dr. James Hector who was a geologist on the Palliser Expedition. He noted that there were large boulders scattered in the area in his diary. There are over 27 murals in town that depict important figures and events in local history. We will be touring the mural sites in the comfort of the tour bus, joined by a knowledgeable tour guide who can tell us about the artists and inspirations for each piece. After the tour the group will have a luncheon at the local seniors drop-in centre. Please bring $5 as a donation to the seniors. We will then travel a few blocks for another guided tour of the Pioneer Museum. We will then return to the centre. Legislative Building Tour & Taste of Edmonton Thursday, July 19 Bus Leaves Centre : 11:00 pm Returns around: 5:00 pm Cost: $37 (Non-members: $67) After Edmonton was chosen as the Provincial capital in 1906 the construction of our legislative buildings began. This $2 million dollar project began in 1907 and the building was complete by Built in the Beaux Arts style of Paris, France; this architectural style is characterized by a large central dome above a spacious rotunda, a symmetrical T-shaped plan, doors and windows decorated with arches or lintels and a portico supported by massive columns. The use of Greek, Roman, and Egyptian influences was considered a symbol of power, permanence and tradition. The roster for this day starts with lunch at the Taste of Edmonton Festival which is now being held right on the Legislative grounds. The Taste of Edmonton is the largest outdoor food festival in Canada and has been running 33 years. After this we will meet our area MLA Chris Nielsen and have a photo taken; after this we will tour the legislative buildings with a knowledgeable tour guide and then board the tour bus and return to NESA. Please note you will need to bring cash to buy food tickets at the Taste of Edmonton Festival.

3 Day Trip to the New Outlet Mall at the International Airport. Thursday, August 2 Bus Leaves Centre: 10:00 am Returns around: 4:00 pm Cost: $37 (Non-members: $67) Due to expressed member interest we will be taking a trip out to the new outlet mall together. This $215 million dollar project was finished in May of this year and has created approximately 1200 jobs in our economy. There are over 70 retail tenants as well as a large food hall. We will travel on the tour bus and then spend the next 3 hours shopping, eating and checking out this new business in our city. We will then return to NESA afterwards. So if you wanted to check this mall out join in on the fun! Note the cost of the tour does not include lunch or money for shopping. Please bring cash for shopping and lunch. Bus pick-up/drop-off will be in the parking lot of Northgate Lions Seniors Rec. Centre Ave. Due to uncertain circumstances the return times may change. NESA SAFARIS Fort Heritage Precinct Wednesday, Aug 15 Bus Leaves Centre: 9:30 am Returns around: 4:30 pm Cost: $40 (Non-members: $70) The Fort Heritage Precinct is sponsored by the Edmonton & District Historical Society and the City of Fort Saskatchewan. The tour will start at the Warden s Residence built in 1937 and then we will tour the 1875 built North West Mounted Police Fort. This portion of the tour is wheelchair and walker accessible. We will then be taken back to the early 1900 s and explore the Historical Village that reflects what early life was like in the area. Please note: This part of the tour is not accessible for individuals with wheelchairs or walkers due to stairs and rough ground. We will then travel forward in time to the 1950 s and have our lunch at the Downtown Diner; which re-opened in a brand new building in June of this year. This diner is a great representation of the retro diner s built in the 50 s and they have great burgers, fries, milk shakes and other treats often found in menu s in diners of that era. Cost of lunch included in tour cost. The diner will have a mini menu. After lunch there will be some free time to look around main street and then we will return.

4 Reynold s AB Museum Tour & Safari Wind Up Thursday, August 30 Bus Leaves Centre: 9:30 am Returns around: 4:15 pm Cost: $43 (Non-members: $73) This museum interprets the impact of technological changes in transportation, aviation, agriculture and industry from the to present day. The museum opened in 1992 and was named after Mr. Stan Reynold s, a Westakiwin businessman and world re-nowned collector. He donated a collection of over 1500 artifacts to the Province of Alberta from 1982 until the time of his passing in We will arrive at the museum and have our lunch and wind up as soon as we arrive, so show up hungry. Cost of lunch is included in the tour fee. We will then have a brief orientation and then begin our tour of the facility. After the tour there will be time to browse the museum on your own and visit the gift shop. There is also daily free programming for those who wish to ride in a vintage car, participate in a craft at the service station or see a movie in the vintage theatre. We will then depart and return to NESA. Another fun year of summer safari s! The Summer Safari Wind Up Party is being held on our last tour of the summer. After a brief orientation of the facilities history we will gather in the enclosure at the museum for a slide show presentation of our tours and a fabulous lunch from the Cruiser s Café: Beef Dip, Potato Salad, Coleslaw and Desert. 5 2018 SUMMER OUTINGS WAIVER RELEASE IMPORTANT INFORMATION The North Edmonton Seniors Association holds the safety of participants in high regard, and is committed to conducting its programs and activities in a safe manner. The North Edmonton Seniors Association insists that all participants follow safety rules and instructions that are designed to protect the participants safety. You are solely responsible for determining if you are physically able to participate in the activity contemplated by this agreement. It is always advisable; especially if the participant is disabled in any way, or recently suffered an illness, injury or impairment, to consult a physician before undertaking any physical activity. If you require any type of assistance (stairs, eating, walking, and so on) it is your responsibility to arrange an aide to accompany you. This may include covering the cost of the aide to be present in the activity. Other participants are not to be expected to aid you as by doing so they may put themselves at risk of injury. WARNING OF RISK Understandably not all hazards and dangers can be foreseen. Participants must understand that depending on a particular activity, certain risks, dangers and injuries due to acts of God, inclement weather, falls, vehicle accidents and all other circumstances inherent to recreational activities/programs exist. In this regard, it must be recognized that it is impossible for the North Edmonton Seniors Association to guarantee absolute safety. WAIVER AND RELEASE OF ALL CLAIMS AND ASSUMPTION OF RISK By registering and participating in any of the 2018 Summer Outings, I am assuming the risks associated with the outing and I release the North Edmonton Seniors Association from any liability. I do hereby fully release and forever discharge the North Edmonton Seniors Association from any and all claims for injuries, damages, or loss that I may have or which may accrue to me arising out of, connected with, or in any way associated with the outing. I have read and fully understand the above important information, warning of risk, waiver and release of all claims.
