Cowboy Match Regulator gazette March 1897 Headline: Dick Holliday and the Bear Removal Service Dick Holliday wakes up one morning to find a bear on his roof. So he looks in the yellow pages, and sure enough, there's an ad for "Up North Bear Removers." He calls the number, and the bear remover says he'll be over in 30 minutes. The bear remover arrives, and gets out of his van. He's got a ladder, a baseball bat, a 12-gauge shotgun, and a mean old pit bull. "What are you going to do?" Dick asks... "I'm going to put this ladder up against the roof, then I'm going to go up there, and knock the bear off the roof with this baseball bat. When the bear falls off the roof, the pit bull is trained to grab his family jewels, and not let go. The bear will then be subdued enough for me to put him in the cage in the back of the van." He then hands the shotgun to the Dick. "What's the shotgun for?" asks Dick. "If the bear knocks me off the roof, shoot the dog." Headline: Why Dick Loves His Dog 1. The later you are, the more excited your dogs are to see you. 2. Dogs don't notice if you call them by another dog's name. 3. You never have to wait for a dog; they're ready to go 24 hours a day. 4. Dogs find you amusing when you're drunk. 5. Dogs like to go hunting and fishing. 6. A dog will not wake you up at night to ask, "If I died, would you get another dog?" 7. If a dog smells another dog on you, they don't get mad. They just think it's interesting. And last, but certainly not least: 8. If a dog leaves, it won't take half of your stuff. Cowboy Fast Draw Match Howdy all, even though we had a small crew we still had a big time. Still, that's the last time we'll try to do a match after a club workday...next time we will just have it on that Sunday or a different Saturday. At the end of our six round no X match Reaper Jones was ranked #1, followed by Tall Pines Kid, both with two Xs. New Lady shooter Lawless Lola Jones continued to improve with consistent shots in the 7s & 8s. We didn't have to worry about getting into the Magnificent 7 Shoot-Off cause there was only six of us LOL...so we had a Super 6 Shoot- Off. It looked like a family feud grudge match with Charlie Horse drawing even with Reaper Jones handing him his first X. When the last shots were fired it was Reaper Jones with the top spot. The results of the match are as follows, with everyone's fastest shot of the day included. Good shooting, pard s. 1- Reaper Jones (.581) - CONGRATULATIONS - Top Gun!!!! 2- Charlie Horse (.660) 3- Tall Pines Kid (.571) 4- Uncle Jefro (.605) 5- Chance Holden (.548) 6- Lawless Lola Jones (.760) Congrats to "Chance Holden" for the fastest time of the day with a.548 shot. Come join us and try out your skills on Sat., March 25th. Want to give it a try, give me a call or e-mail me. 910-330-7179 Time to start making plans for..."showdown In Dixie" the 2017 CFDA Virginia State Championship...July 7th, 8th and 9th.
