IT'S THE FINAL COUNTDOWN: The Padres defeated the Rockies last night 3-0 for the club's fourth win in their last five games...it was the Friars' second shutout against Colorado this season (first: April 12 at COL), and it was the second occasion in 2017 in which San Diego has won consecutive games opposite the Rockies (also: April 12-May 2)...if the Padres win tonight, it will be the first time since Sept. 20, 2015-April 9, 2016 that the Padres have won three straight games opposite the Rockies...the last time the Friars claimed three straight vs. COL in part of a single season dates back to their seven-game winning streak from May 1-Aug.15, 2015. Last night, Clayton Richard recorded his eighth win in his club-leading 31st start...his 7.1 innings of work were the most he threw since his complete game shutout on August 16 vs. PHI it was his first outing this season (and just the third of his career) in which he has allowed seven-or-more hits and not allowed a run to score. Christian Villanueva recorded his second career multi-hit game and his first career multi-rbi game... he homered in the fifth inning, the day after hitting the first of his career before his homer, Franchy Cordero was the last Padre rookie to homer in consecutive games following the first of his career (June 12-13 of this season), per ELIAS. STATUS UPDATE: Tonight's broadcast will be available on Facebook Live for the first time at home in Padres history...it also marks the first time that Fox Sports San Diego will be used as the broadcast feed..it can be accessed at https://www.facebook.com/mlb/ SD vs. COL, '17 Average....2287 (119-for-521) Avg. w/risp... 217 (23-for-106) Home runs... 20 RBI... 57 Stolen bases... 5 Runs per game... 3.7 ERA...5.66 (88, 140.0) Starters' W-L...4-8 Starters' ERA...5.83 (51, 78.2) Relievers' W-L...2-2 Relievers' ERA...5.43 (37, 61.1) Saves/Chances... 3/3 SD, current stand Average....260 (32-for-123) Avg. w/risp... 269 (7-for-26) Home runs... 8 RBI... 20 Stolen bases... 5 Runs per game... 5.0 ERA...3.00 (12, 36.0) Starters' W-L...3-0 Starters' ERA...3.75 (10, 24.0) Relievers' W-L...0-1 Relievers' ERA...1.50 (2, 12.1) Saves/Chances... 2/2 WELCOME TO THE GROUNDER GAMES: The Rockies pitching staff leads the majors with 1,949 forced ground balls this season, and San Diego has the second-most with 1,911...the Friars have the highest ground-ball percentage (48.8) and the Rockies have the second-highest (48.7)...the Padres have induced 147 this season, the most of any team. WELL PENNED: In their last two games against the Rockies, the Padres bullpen has combined for 6.1 innings of scoreless ball...they have allowed four hits vs. COL in that time (all singles), while holding opposing bats to a.174 average and not allowing a single walk. WHO'S THE MANUEL?: Manuel Margot had his club-leading 39th multi-hit game last night, and his five-game hitting spree is the longest active streak on the club...in that time, he's had three multi-hit games and hit.444 (8-for-18) with two doubles and three stolen bases. Margot's 39 multi-hit games tie for the fifth most in club history among Padre rookies, with Bill Almon's 47 in 1977 leading the pack...margot's multi-hit efforts are the most by a San Diego rookie since Yonder Alonso's 42 in 2012. KEEPING IT 100: After striking out the side in the ninth inning, Brad Hand became the second reliever in Padres history to record back-to-back 100 strikeout seasons...trevor Hoffman is the only other San Diego reliever to accomplish the feat (1996-97)...Hand's 100 strikeouts this season are the fourth-most among relievers...dating back to the 2016 season, his 211 strikeouts are second-most of any reliever, behind NYY Dellin Betances' 224. ON RECORD WATCH: With Christian Villanueva's home run last night, the Padres have now hit 86 homers at Petco Park this year, adding to the newly set club record for most at Petco in a single season the most the Padres have hit at home in a single season in franchise history are 87, set in 1992 at Qualcomm Stadium and repeated in 1993. ELIAS SAYS: After last night's victory, the Padres have won 126 straight games at home when entering the ninth inning with a lead...it is the longest active streak in baseball. WIL YOU LOOK AT THAT: Wil Myers is a career.389 (7-for-18) hitter with two doubles and a homer against Rockies' starter Jon Gray...he is one of five players to have more than 15 at-bats against Gray, and his.389 mark is the second-highest of any player, behind Jon Jay's.400 average...myers has hit.309 opposing Colorado pitching this season with five doubles, two triples, four homers and nine RBI. RECORD HUNTER: Hunter Renfroe has hit 24 home runs this season, tying Nate Colbert's Padre rookie record that he set in 1969...Padres rookies have hit 55 homers this season, breaking the Padres single-season record for homers by rookies, set in 2016 with 40...the 55 homers are more than rookies on any other National League team, and only the Oakland Athletics (63) and the Chicago White Sox (56) have had more, per STATS. EXTRA-BASELESS: The Rockies have 54 extra-base hits against the Padres this season, which are the third-most of any team opposite the Friars last night, however, the Padres did not allow a single extra-base hit to the Rockies for the first time in a game this season. DATES IN PADRES HISTORY: On September 22, 2001, PH Mike Darr hit a walk-off homer in the 10th as the Padres defeated the Giants 4-3 before 60,870 fans at Qualcomm Stadium. PADRES AT A GLANCE...
