BACK AT IT: Yesterday, the Padres played the second doubleheader in Petco Park history, sweeping the Los Angeles Dodgers in the two games for the first doubleheader sweep in ballpark history...the four-game set against the Dodgers marks the last time this season the Padres will play host to Los Angeles...with the Dodgers' victory on Friday, they clinched the season series win over the Padres for the seventh consecutive year...however, the Padres have now won four of their last five games, and they look to win the series for the first time opposite LAD since Sept. 27-29, 2016 at Petco. PART ONE: INF Yangervis Solarte hit his first-career walk off home run, and it was the third by a Padre this season (last: July 15th vs SF). OF Manuel Margot logged his first-career three-walk SD vs. LAD '17 Average....207 (99-for-479) Avg. w/risp... 188 (18-for-96) Home runs... 15 RBI... 45 Stolen bases... 7 Runs per game... 3.1 ERA...5.95 (86,130.0) Starters' W-L...2-8 Starters' ERA...5.31 (47, 79.2) Relievers' W-L...3-2 Relievers' ERA...6.97 (39, 50.1) Saves/Chances... 2/5 game, and INF Wil Myers hit the first extra-base hit of the series, which was his first hit against the Dodgers at home this season with a double and a triple in the game, Myers recorded his first multi-extra-base hit game since August 5th at PIT. PART TWO: RHP Jordan Lyles made his Padres debut in what was his first start since May 23, 2016 at PIT, while with the Rockies he tossed a season-high 4.1 innings last night, making his longest outing since working 7.0 innings on April 18, 2016 at CIN. In his first start since returning from the disabled list, INF Erick Aybar had a season-hightying three hits for the third time in 2017 two of his three-hit games have come against the Dodgers, and he has gone 9-for-27 (.333) with three doubles vs. LAD this season. INF Carlos Asuaje logged his fourth home run of the season last night, and he is hitting.276 (62-for-225) since being recalled on June 23. PETCO S ELITE: Starter Jhoulys Chacin owns a 1.85 ERA (18 ER, 87.1) in 14 starts at Petco Park in 2017, the lowest home ERA in the Majors this season...per ELIAS, his 1.85 ERA is the lowest ERA of any player s first 14 home starts as a Padre in the club s history. Has made 16 career starts (18 appearances) at Petco Park, and among all active pitchers who have made at least 16 starts at Petco, Chacin s 2.11 ERA and.191 opponent batting average both rank first. RISPY BUSINESS: The Padres went 5-for-12 with runners in scoring position in Game 2 of yesterday's doubleheader, which were the most hits with RISP the Padres have had in a game against the Dodgers this season...the last time they had more hits with RISP vs. Los Angeles was when they had six on Sept. 3, 2015 at Petco...the Friars had six RBI and seven strikeouts with RISP in Game 2, which also marked season-highs against Los Angeles. THE 'PEN IS MIGHTIER THAN THE BAT: The Padres bullpen combined to toss 4.2 scoreless innings in the second game of yesterday's doubleheader, and in their last 19 games (since August 13), the Padres pen has posted a 2.76 ERA, which ranks second in the NL and fourth in the Majors behind the Angels (2.26), Dodgers (2.45) and Rays (2.73)... Padres relievers also rank second in baseball over that stretch in opponent average (.197) and WHIP (1.02). San Diego relievers have allowed a run in three of their last four games, posting a 1.17 ERA (2 ER, 15.1 IP). AND THEN THERE WERE TWO: Per Elias, the Padres have been involved in 218 doubleheaders (day-night or otherwise)...the club has split 109 times, swept 44 times and were swept 65 times...at home, the Padres have played 88 doubleheaders and have split 42 times, swept 25 times and were swept 21 times. The Padres have played 10 vs. the Dodgers (all true doubleheaders), and before yesterday, the most recent doubleheader matchup against LAD was on Sept. 21, 1988... the Padres swept the Dodgers in a doubleheader for the fourth time in club history and the for the first time since June 17, 1988 in Los Angeles...only two of the doubleheaders was played in San Diego (previously, on Sept. 29, 1983), both of which the Padres swept. PADRES ON DECK: Last night for Triple-A El Paso, RF Hunter Renfroe went 3-for-5 with two RBI, and LHP Dillon Overton allowed one run with four strikeouts over 6.0 innings to lead the Chihuahuas to a 8-1 victory over Sacramento...with two games remaining, the win reduced the defending Pacific Coast League champions magic number for a third straight Pacific South Division title to one game. SS Fernando Tatis Jr. logged the first four-hit game of his professional career for Double-A San Antonio..Tatis was 4-for-5 with two RBI. LHP Ben Sheckler allowed two runs on five hits over 8.0 innings for Short-Season Single-A Tri-City...however, the Dust Devils were shutout for a third straight game... they need a win Sunday (coupled with a Spokane loss) in the final day of the Northwest League season to advance to the playoffs. DATES IN PADRES HISTORY: On September 3, 1970, RHP Clay Kirby allowed three hits and four walks with six strikeouts in a complete-game shutout, and catcher Chris Cannizzaro went 2-for-4 with three RBI as the Padres defeated Houston 4-0 in the Astrodome. On September 4, 2004, Tony Gwynn s No. 19 was retired by the Padres during ceremonies at Petco Park. UPCOMING SCHEDULE AND PROBABLE STARTERS PADRES AT A GLANCE...
