2. Executive summary 2.1 Key findings The schl has experienced change in the schl s leadership during the past 12 mnths. Thrugh enrlment grwth the appintment f a full time deputy principal and a 0.5 FTE master teacher has ccurred. Several members f the leadership team are new t the schl r t their respective rles within the schl. The schl leadership team is cmmitted in their pursuit f imprved learning utcmes fr students. The leadership team and teachers supprt the develpment f this agenda and there is evidence f a whle schl fcus. All teachers are able t articulate the schl imprvement agenda. Teachers demnstrate a willingness t utilise data t infrm their teaching and identify starting pints fr student learning. The Central Queensland Student Supprt System (CQ3S) data base assists teachers in the analysis f sme f their classrm data. Diagnstic data is stred in OneSchl. Teachers indicate additinal student data is stred in class mark bks. Sme staff members have created data strage spreadsheets. Data meetings are cnducted each term between the leadership team and class teachers. Whle year levels student data are cllated at the end f each schl year t infrm planning fr the next year. A schedule f data cllectins is prvided fr teachers and includes a brad range f benchmarks fr student achievement acrss the years f schling. The schl has a well-established Psitive Behaviur fr Learning (PB4L) prcess The PB4L prcess is infrmed by the cllectin f behaviur data that is centrally stred in OneSchl. Staff members and students interviewed spke psitively f the relatinships in the schl which supprt learning. Classrms are rderly and purpseful with significant displays f student wrk, which are linked t the schl s imprvement agenda and teachers have prvided charts t assist student learning. Teachers respectfully manage students while supprting and encuraging student learning with a belief that all students can be successful learners. 4
Schl leaders and teachers regularly visit classrms. Teachers display an penness t clleagues wh are visiting classrms fr bservatin f their teaching practices. The fur year implementatin prcess f Explicit Instructin (EI) mdel has resulted in cnsistent teaching practice acrss the schl. EI implementatin has been supprted by an external cnsultant and this has resulted in cnsistent teaching practice acrss the schl. This is mst evident in Prep t Year 3 and there is substantial daily practice in Year 4 t Year 6. Mdelling and teacher feedback by the external cnsultant has supprted implementatin. There is evidence that the schl is delivering the full scpe f mandated curriculum and expectatins f learning. There is evidence f alignment f curriculum, assessment and reprting. All members f the schl cmmunity nte a high level f cllegial supprt within the schl. Mst teachers are pen t cnstructive feedback and express a desire fr mre caching and feedback. 5
