The Shorebirds now sit atop the SAL Northern Division standings at 4-1 with Kannapolis and Greensboro each a game back at 3-2. Kannapolis went 14-7 against Delmarva last year. Intimidating Starter: The Intimidators opening day starter is back on the bump for the second run through the rotation. Jaye, 21, faced the Shorebirds four times in 2012, going 1-1 with a 5.03 ERA against them. He picked up a win in over the BlueClaws in the season opener, allowing two runs on four hits over 5.0 innings. The White Sox traded for Jaye in January 2012, acquiring him along with fellow prospect P Daniel Webb for big league pitcher Jason Frasor. Dealing for Delmarva: Brady Wager, 22, was selected by the Orioles in the ninth round of the June 2012 draft and went 0-4 with a 4.72 ERA in 12 games (nine starts) in his professional debut between the GCL Orioles and Short-Season Aberdeen. The former Grand Canyon University product is making his first start of the year for Delmarva. About Last Night: Delmarva jumped on Intimidators starter Jefferson Olacio early, chasing him from the game in the first inning and tagging him for five runs on three hits en route to a 6-4 win. Kannapolis trailed most of the game, but pulled within two in the ninth inning thanks to a Kale Kiser three-run triple. K dator Doubles: Kannapolis doubled five times in Sunday s win over Lakewood, including two by Rangel Ravelo, to bring the team s season total 13, just two behind league-leader Charleston (15). Can t Catch Kanny: Kannapolis has stolen 12 bases this season, second-most in the league with teammates Micah Johnson and Adam Heisler the Intimidators leadoff and No. 2 hitters, respectively tied for the league lead with four each. Struggling Start: Jefferson Olacio allowed five runs in the first inning on Monday, equaling the same number of total runs allowed by the Intimidators first four starters the first time through the rotation. Pitchers Myles Jaye, Euclides Leyer, Brandon Brennan and Jake Cose combined to work 20.2 innings over the first four games, allowing five earned run for an ERA of 2.18. King Kiser: No. 9 hitter Kale Kiser leads the SAL with a.533 average (8-15) and is tied for the league-lead with nine RBI after driving in three more on Monday with a ninth inning bases-clearing triple. He ranks second in slugging percentage (.867), is tied for second in extra-base hits (4) and total bases (13), is tied for third in hits (8), and tied for fourth in on-base percentage (.571). Bob Seger Tribute Night: Forget those Hollywood Nights and spend an evening in Kannapolis on Thursday as the Intimidators host Bob Seger Tribute Night. Fans who wish to attend won't be subjected to a Shakedown as tickets are only $8 for reserved-level seats and $6 for general admission when purchased in advance. So be sure to tell your friends to Wait For Me, because you won't want to be left.
