2. Executive summary 2.1 Key findings The schl ffers a brad range f utdr experiences fr visiting students with a fcus n student success and wellbeing. The schl s fur distinct prgram areas include the Surf Awareness Camp Prgram, Day Visit Prgram, Currumbin Cmmunity Farm Schl Prgram and Outdr Envirnmental Sustainability Training. The schl leadership team is currently wrking with staff frm acrss these sectrs t develp a shared visin and imprvement agenda fr the schl fcused n student learning. The schl s eths is built arund high expectatins and a cmmitment t student and staff well-being. There is a happy and ptimistic feel t the schl, underpinned by an expectatin that all students will actively participate and learn. Staff acrss all sectrs f the schl are cmmitted t utilising their expertise and energy t prvide safe, well-rganised, psitive and memrable experiences fr students. Visiting teachers and students value the prgrams ffered and reflect psitively n their experiences at the schl. Appraches t curriculum planning vary acrss the fur distinct sectrs f schl with the attributes f persnal and scial capability develping as a cmmn thread acrss prgrams. In sme sectrs f the schl, learning experiences are develped with strng cnnectins t the Australian Curriculum; Queensland curriculum and Vcatin Educatin and Training registered training packages. Crss-curricular skills and attributes including Indigenus perspectives and sustainability are integral t prgramming. An verarching curriculum framewrk is yet t be develped. The schl applies its funds, generated thrugh the prgram areas in a flexible manner t maximize the number f students wh are able t participate in a wide range f prgrams. The student visitatin capacity data indicates that the schl is perating at levels well abve maximum capacity. The schl leadership is currently drawing n the range f available data including visitatin capacity, exit survey, financial and wrk frce data t review schl peratins and prgramming. 4

Cllabrative planning prcesses and reflective teaching cycles designed t supprt the identificatin and cnsistent use f high yield pedaggical practices are yet t be cnsistently enacted acrss all sectrs the schl. The schl has a dcumented pedaggical framewrk. There is an pprtunity t review this with staff t identify signature teaching practices. The schl des nt currently have a prfessinal learning plan linked t the pedaggical framewrk and imprvement agenda. The schl has established a range f partnerships with ther educatinal and training institutins, lcal business and cmmunity rganisatins that enhance pprtunities and utcmes fr students. Psitive partnerships have been frmed with a significant number f visiting schls as evidenced by the number f schls wh visit annually and include the schl s prgram as an integral element f their schl planning. The schl draws n the expertise f cmmunity partners t enrich curriculum prgrams. 5

2.2 Key imprvement strategies Establish a clear and shared understanding f the verarching visin f the schl acrss all sectrs and the rle that the explicit imprvement agenda has in achieving this visin. Develp and implement a whle schl explicit imprvement agenda that is accmpanied by targets and timelines, apprpriate resurcing and prfessinal develpment fr all staff. Develp and implement a curriculum framewrk that clearly dcuments the whle schl plan fr curriculum delivery with links t Australian and Queensland curriculums which makes explicit what teachers shuld teach and students shuld learn. Revise the existing pedaggical framewrk, in cnsultatin with teaching staff, t fcus n key theries and principles that will infrm teaching practice and ptimise learning fr all students. Review the use f resurces with a fcus n maximising student learning utcmes and t ensure sustainable levels f quality service delivery acrss the fur sectrs f the schl. Develp and implement a prfessinal learning plan, which includes a mentring, caching and feedback cycle linked t the schl s imprvement agenda and pedaggical framewrk t ensure quality teaching practices are enacted cnsistently acrss all sectrs f the schl. 6
