2. Executive summary 2.1 Key findings The schl leadership team and staff are cmmitted t imprving learning utcmes fr all students in the schl. High expectatins are expressed by the schl cmmunity and reflect a schl-wide cmmitment t purpseful, successful learning and teaching. The newly established leadership team and staff acknwledge the value f develping leadership density and cllabrative planning in driving the schl s explicit imprvement agenda. The tne f the schl is a respectful, psitive and happy ne. Psitive and prductive relatinships are evident thrughut the schl. The schl prvides a safe, respectful and caring learning envirnment as evidenced by the reductin in the number f majr behaviural incidents ver time, classrm bservatins and feedback frm staff parents and students. The schl presents psitively t the schl cmmunity in bth its physical appearance and welcming culture. The Tewantin cmmunity speaks with great pride f the schl s reputatin and its unique place within the district. The schl has established the pririty f imprving reading thrugh a fcus upn guided reading. The schl s imprvement agenda fcused n reading is being led by the leadership team and is supprted by reginal supprt staff. The whle-schl apprach with cnsistent expectatins and supprted by caching, bservatin and feedback is bradly seen t be strengthening student utcmes and the teaching f reading at the schl. There is a develping culture f evidence-based practice. Schl leaders have intrduced scafflded discussins with year level teaching teams t guide the analysis f student reading data using a cmmitment t actin mdel. Teachers speak psitively f this prcess. Student utcme data is cllected centrally and analysed at chrt and individual student levels t infrm specific and targeted interventin prgrams. Lngitudinal mnitring f the effectiveness f these prgrams is yet t be fully cnceptualised and implemented. The schl perates a range f prgrams t address students needs and talents. Cmmunity members identified the Acceler8 prgram as a significant teaching and learning prgram within the schl. The prgram s intent is t identify and accelerate students within the Upper Tw Bands (U2B) in additin t students wh have the ptential t reach the U2B. The schl is yet t develp a prcess t ensure effective cnnectins between specific interventins and student classrm learning. 4
