2 Editorial: We re still chasing a new treasurer. Colleen has agreed to keep going for the time being and help whoever puts their hand up and possibly even share the role if the new person can t commit to being at every meeting. C'mon guys and gals it s not that hard! Katrina Martin volunteered to be the new secretary, thanks very much for making time for this role in your busy work/qhrp schedule. It is with much sadness that we learnt of the passing of Betty Joyce Teresa Dolley - wife of Chev Club founding member Allan Dolley. Betty passed away on 27th January Our thoughts and sympathies go out to Bettys family. Elton Walker Newsletter Editor and Webmaster Presidents Report: Hello to all our Queensland Chev Club members, past, present and new. Another three new members attended our February meeting - welcome aboard. Thanks Bruce for doing a rego inspection at the meeting. Thanks to all the people who put their hands up at the February meeting to join our sub committee to help stage the 2017 National Chevrolet Festival in Warwick, S.E. Queensland. We ll be the host club, yet again so let s put on a show for everyone to remember. Dates we re looking at will be mid/late September 2017 at this stage, date TBA. Members who help out at this event (and the Hot Rod Show, All American and Harrigans) will be rewarded at the end of the year with heavily discounted costs for our end of year celebrations. Summernats 29 in Canberra was a hoot. Colleen and I did the touristy thing as well as the cars - it was a great week. More pix this issue. Cruise safely in your Chevies. 4 MINUTES 2 FEBRUARY 2016 Meeting opened at 7:40pm by President Elton Walker. Apologies: Eric Tomson, Charles Gilbert, Kevin Ward, Brian Scott, Theo Sowinski, Barry Tether, Katrina Martin, Peter and Jenny Guthrie, Bill and Yvonne Lord, Glen and Carolyn Pearce. Attendance; 27 Visitors/new members: Aleck Hoffmann, Sharon Betts, Mat Bartlett Correspondence In: 16 pieces of hard mail, 12 s (Erics), 76 s in/out (Elton) Correspondence Out: s only Correspondence in/out read and moved by Elton, seconded by Trevor Kitson. Treasurers Report: Read by Colleen, moved by Elton, seconded by Adrian Deede. Audit report can t be finalised yet due to merchandise stocktake not being available. Will be completed later this month and tabled at March meeting. QHMC: Selected parts of minutes and associated correspondence read to the meeting. More info. will be in the March newsletter. QHRP: Minutes of December 2015 meeting read. Harley Davidson bike giveaway confirmed. Youngcare is the charity of choice this year. Media releases sent out. TV Advertising will be on Channel 7 and 7Mate. Magazines will feature the latest poster - see later in this issue. Thanks to Katrina Martin and Elton Walker we ll have 3-4 cars each from Summernats 29 (all in the Top 20) and the Victorian Hot Rod show as well as a couple of southern traders. Cars include Steve Chaplins AngryRX3, Dave and Lyn Keens FJ, Greg Holmes King Kong Cuda, Sonia Piggins 34 roadster and others. General Business: Ÿ Hot Rod Show - Our club needs to get their entries sorted now to allow floor plans to be finalise for club cars. Tickets will be available to club members for $12. Tickets will also soon be available on line. There is a QR scan on the new poster which you can use via your smart phone or tablet which will direct you straight to the QHRP website. Ÿ Ballina show - Our club won Best Club trophy - well done, as well as other trophies on the day. A very good show according to all reports. 5 Ÿ Tyre Compare, a new business requested info. on becoming a sponsor of the Chev Club. Information sent out and he s offered $100 for 3 months of an ad in the newsletter and Facebook as a trial. Ÿ High Altitude Run and Show n Shine in Toowoomba 13th March Ÿ All American Show - need to get flyers printed to hand out in Toowoomba, Stanthorpe and other car shows including the Masters shows. New address for All American is president@chevclubqld.com Ÿ New Technical Centre opened in Springfield for welding/metal shaping, lathe work etc. See brochure in this issue. Ÿ Gold Coast Auto Air ad will be removed as they are no longer financial sponsors. Ÿ Chev Nationals Warwick is the destination. Greg has been in contact with people there and the local council is very supportive and have recommended a couple of venues for our event use. Another reconnaissance trip will be carried out shortly to check things out. This is where American Car enthusiasts get together for a catch up. The event is open to ALL AMERICAN vehicles. ATM on site. This event is proudly presented by the Queensland Chevrolet Car Club Inc in conjunction with the Shoebox Club of Queensland Inc. $15/vehicle and driver, Spectators $5.
