1 HELENSVALE NETBALL CLUB CELEBRATING 25 YEARS!!!!!!!!! [Edition 1, Volume 1] PRESIDENTS REPORT Welcome to our first edition since our AGM in November. As you can see on the right hand column there have been a few changes to our Committee for the 2015 season. We would like to welcome Chris Van, Kylie Daley and Danielle Chapman to our Committee. The Committee would also like to say a very big Thank you to our retiring members, Wendy Brown, Lucy Littlely, Sheree Jenkins and Joanne Drummond, who have all served many years on the Committee and are surely going to be missed. We are still looking for an umpire/coaching coordinator or an events coordinator if any members are keen to join our 2015 committee. Our first agenda items for our new Committee is to look for new sponsorship packages, the annual Nova coaching clinic & to start to organize our big plans to celebrate 25 years of Helensvale Netball Club. We have also held our first Early Bird sign on and were amazed at the number of existing but also new members who took advantage of this offer. The fees for next year have been set at $220 per player. The increase is due to an increase in Netball QLD and NGCNA fees and we have also decided to include the photo money in the fees this year. Reason for this change is that every player takes the photo option but can be a bit of a nightmare for the team managers to chase money etc. This way the club will cover the cost of the photos and pay the photographer direct. Our next sign on will be Saturday 31 st January 2015 however you can send in your forms anytime between now and then. We look forward to seeing all our current members return and welcome our new members for another great year ahead at Helensvale Netball Club. 2 CELEBRATING 25 YEARS 2015 SPONSORSHIP COACHING COURSES This season Helensvale Netball Club will be celebrating 25 years as a club on the Gold Coast. The club has a great history and we feel that it should be celebrated. We will be looking at holding some exciting events next year and would like to ask if any members are keen to help us out in the organization of these events please contact me. Any help is appreciated. The committee is also looking at revamping the club with a new logo and possibly a mascot. We will be looking for member help with this and possibly running a competition. So if you have some great ideas for a mascot or name e.g. Helensvale Defenders let us know. Look out for more information in the New Year. NOVA HOLIDAY CLINIC We will be holding our 2 nd Annual Nova Holiday coaching clinic on Sat 17 th of January. I have attached the flyer at the end of this newsletter and if you know anyone interested in coming along please spread the word. If any of our older girls would like to come along and help out with the skills sessions please give me a call aswell. In 2015 we have some exciting new sponsorship packages available. These packages include: Play for Free, Team Sponsorships, Rep Players Sponsorships plus much more. These sponsorship packages not only help the club and the business but also the players. So if you have a business or know anyone with a business who might be interested in sponsoring our club in 2015 please contact me. EXCITING REP NEWS!!!! In November the NGCNA had the representative trials for the 2015 season. This year the club is very excited to congratulate 11 players for their efforts in making representative teams. This is a great result for the club and the best we have had in many years. We have had a few parents interested in doing coaching courses so below is the list of courses and dates available. Please let me know if you are interested in any of these courses. All our coaches must have a foundation level accreditation to coach in Foundation (Beginners) 1 st Feb Ipswich 8 th Feb NGCNA Development (Have to done Foundation first) 7 th Feb Southport 14 th March Metropolitan 2015 UNIFORMS Last season we started to introduce a new and exciting range of training gear, supporter gear etc. We have been busy working in conjunction with Stellar Uniforms to put an exciting range together for Last year s gear will remain the same but we will have more exciting products available. I have attached photos at the end of this newsletter and these items will be available to order at Sign on Days and throughout the season. 3 Helensvale Netball Club will be holding their annual holiday coaching clinic to be run by NGCNA qualified coaches for all players aged 5-10years. Holiday clinics teach the essential skills necessary for future netball success. These skills are the foundation for technical ability. Clinics focus on technique, ball control, shooting, defence, passing, footwork and most importantly FUN! So come along with your sporty netball buddies and get ready to learn a whole lot more about netball. Any players registered at any NGCNA club welcome to attend. New players welcome. 4 2015 Sponsorship Packages Introduction Helensvale Netball Club was established in 1991 and has since experienced some exciting changes. The club began with four teams participating in the Southport Carrara Netball Association competition. In 2003 the club elected to play in the Hinterland Netball Association competition at Mudgeeraba and as of 2009 became a founding club of the Northern Gold Coast Netball Association (NGCNA) with Saturday s competition games being played at Runaway Bay. We are proud to have many girls moving forward to representative level. We welcome all players regardless of their ability. Come and enjoy the great team sport of Netball and let s make it another successful season for our club. The continuing success of the club is due to the dedicated committee members, coaches, managers, players and support of their parents. Our Mission The mission of the Helensvale Netball Club is to organise, promote and encourage the game of netball for all participants regardless of ability or disability; and to organise, promote and encourage recreational pursuits for the benefit of good health. Helensvale Netball Club goals for 2015 Continuation of partnership with the Northern Gold Coast Netball Association. Working with the Gold Coast City Council for new courts and our own Clubhouse in the Helensvale area Newly revamped playing dress for competition, revamped Club Polo s, Umpire uniform and introduction of new training gear Potential revamp of logo for Helensvale Netball Club Further development of coaches through accreditations Further development of junior players for our new holiday coaching clinics New initiatives to encourage more junior players to umpire For the Helensvale Netball Club to fulfil its commitment to its members and Netball QLD it requires considerable funding each season. This is a fantastic win/win situation for both our members who get their fees refunded and the company who, as well as advertising their business, in most instances can claim sponsorship as a tax deductible expense. One sponsorship of $420 covers one player registration.
