1 NARRABEEN YOUTH CLUB NETBALL INFORMATION FOR 2018 Welcome to the 2018 Netball season. We hope you all had a wonderful holiday and now it is time to start thinking of Netball Registrations. We have put this document together with some useful information for the 2018 season as well as links for registration. All registrations for 2018 must be done online using the links below. Our Narrabeen youth Club Online registrations will be open From 22 nd January 2018.

2 Registration costs for 2018 The age is what you are turning in 2018 Senior players 18 years and over $ Junior players 10 years to 17 years $ Netsetgo 8 and 9 years $ Netsetgo 6 and 7 years only for 2018 $ 90.00* *Starting in Term 2 on Friday afternoons from 4pm to 5pm *Starting Friday 4 th May till 22 nd June 2018 *PLEASE NOTE : Limited spaces available. Narrabeen Youth Club will hold an INFORMATION day on Saturday 3 th February from 1pm to 4pm at Nelson Heather Centre, Angophora Room, Cnr Jacksons and Boondah Roads, Warriewood. This is predominantly for new players to produce their birth certificates and for players to purchase uniform attire. Active Kids Commencing from January 31 the NSW Government will provide a $100 voucher to parents/guardians of school enrolled children which can be used for registration and participation costs for sport and fitness activities. Every child ( years old) enrolled in school from Kindergarten to Year 12 will be eligible for an Active Kids Voucher. This includes those who are home-schooled or enrolled in secondary school education at TAFE NSW. It will not be means tested and one voucher will be available for every child in the family annually over the next four years. If you choose to use this voucher for your netball registration, please register at the link below BEFORE registering for your netball season. You can then use the voucher when registering for your club. Photographs NYC returning players do not need to provide photographs as we will be using the existing photographs. However, we will require photographs for all new players and players turning 10 in Please check the following information sheet for details on this process, these players must provide a photo otherwise their card cannot be printed. We will be checking the photo but if everyone could try and have their photo as close as possible to the requirements it will reduce any admin time required to process them and send onto Manly.

3 MANLY WARRINGAH NETBALL ASSN - PHOTO CARDS 2018 New photo cards for existing players will be produced by Manly using the current photo s they have. Signatures will NOT be required on these cards but players will need to sign the scoresheets for each game and sign a master sheet on game 1. Requirements All players turning 10 this year and any new players to NYC will need to supply their us with a digital photo file in order to complete their registration (unfortunately they cannot attach the file directly to their MyNetball rego at this stage). So this will be a 2-part process they will need to register/renew accordingly and they will then need to the Club Registrar the photo. Their registration is not complete until the photo is supplied. These photos will need to be named as the Players MyNetball ID number & Name - registrars will need to check the file to make sure it is correct. All photographs must be received by 20/2/2018. These images need to be in the following format: cm Square File Name File Type Photo Size Photo Background Photo File name MUST be the players MyNetball number File need be in a JPEG file format Square aspect ratio 1.25 (3.175 cm) square The photo must be a current colour photo 600 dpi White or light colour background (nothing else in background of photo) Neck and face looking directly at the camera ALL NARRABEEN PHOTO S TO BE ED TO NYCNETBALLREGISTRAR@GMAIL.COM

4 IMPORTANT 2018 DATES Narrabeen Youth Club INFORMATION day Saturday 3 rd February 1pm to 4pm. GRADING- All players who are turning 10 years to 15 years must attend our NYC grading sessions. It is NYC policy that all junior members are graded into teams with players of similar ability and skill. All clubs in MWNA grade their players into teams the same way. The end result is better competition and a more enjoyable season for everybody. Each year all players are graded again regardless what happened the previous year. We recommend that you read the registration declaration carefully in regards to player withdrawals. players turning 10 in 2018 Grading day Monday 12 th February from 3.45pm to 6.30pm at Pittwater Uniting Church Indoor New Life Centre at 10 Jubilee Avenue Warriewood players turning 11 to 14 in Grading day Saturday 10 th February at Pittwater Uniting Church Indoor New Life Centre at 10 Jubilee Avenue Warriewood Grading times as follows: 11 years 9.00am to 11.00am 12 years am to 1.30pm 13 years 2.00pm to 3.30pm 14 years 3.30pm to 4.30 pm GRADING IS COMPULSORY FOR ALL PLAYERS. We ask if you can arrive about 10 minutes beforehand to sign on and warm up before taking the court. TEAM ANNOUNCEMENTS Friday 23 rd February at 5.00pm till 6.30pm at Boondah grass courts - this is where players are told what team they are in for the season. Team coach, manager and team training day details are discussed and decided on. Please remember that the day and time you train will depend on your coach and the majority of the 8 or 9 players in the team. We ask that all parents try to fit in with the team even if it means that a swimming or music lesson may have to be changed to accommodate the whole team. Sometimes we have been advised that a player has no afternoons left due to their other commitments and activities, so please be mindful if you register your daughter all players are expected to train with the team if they want to play with the team. We appreciate your assistance regarding this. This is for all teams up to 15 year olds 17 s & Seniors may send a representative to collect team bag

5 IMPORTANT NOTE FOR ALL UNDER 10 YEAR OLD PLAYERS 10 YEARS MWNA GRADING ROUND ROBIN Sunday 18 th March at Curl Curl courts 8.30am to 1.00pm - This is a compulsory day for our Narrabeen Youth Club under 10 year old teams ONLY. This is where our 10 year old teams will play against other clubs in the MWNA association for their 2018 competition division. If players are missing this has an effect on the team s grade. NYC tries to limit forfeited games if possible. We appreciate your consideration of the team regarding this. Game times for 2018 to be confirmed by MWNA. PARKING Please continue to be mindful of the limited parking especially if you have umpiring commitments. It may be in everyone s best interest to use the drop off zone for players so they can join their team for warm up and then parents to find parking. We also suggest car-pooling where possible. UNIFORMS NYC teams will continue to wear the Netball bodysuit and will cost $100 each. Uniforms will be on sale at the information day. Please contact Lucy with regards to second-hand uniforms. 6 COACHING NYC is looking for team coaches and managers for the 2018 season. If you are interested in coaching a team or completing a Coaching course, please submit your interest to Kylie O Neill at nycnetballcoaching@gmail.com or text her on All coaching appointments will be reviewed and finalised by the NYC Executive committee. UMPIRING NYC is a very strong umpiring club and we have a well-developed system for mentoring young umpires. All players from 12 years and over will have allocated umpiring to complete during the season. This is carefully scheduled and must be adhered to. The club will get penalties and fines if rostered umpiring is not completed. Any queries or problems please contact Angela Jones on or her on nycnetballumpiring@gmail.com. FOR SENIORS If you register to play then you have to be prepared to umpire for your team allocation at least a couple of times during the season - the club holds excellent umpire lectures for all players and is worth attending. There is an approved umpiring list for those who require substitutions. Please contact Angela Jones on or nycnetballumpiring@gmail.com DISPUTE RESOLUTION NYC has a strong constitution regarding fair play and sportsmanship on the netball court from our players and encourage our players to have fun whilst learning technique and skills. However, we are aware that issues arise and we would like to advise that the correct resolution is to send a representative from the game to the tower and request the presence of an executive from both clubs playing and giving them the court number. The dispute will then be dealt with by these representatives. We request that parents/players/managers or coaches follow this procedure to ensure the matter is dealt with correctly by the respective parties. NETSETGO 8 AND 9 YEAR PLAYERS For First year 8 year old Netsetgo Players. Teams can be made up of school friends etc. Usually a mum takes charge and organises a few friends. You can let the club know who their daughter wants to play with BUT please understand ONLY 8 or 9 players in the one team. We don t want 12 players registering to play altogether. It is not possible!!! To limit disappointment, we ask you to consider this when making up a netball team. If 2 friends want to play together but don t know anyone else the club will allocate them to a team. For second year 9 Year Netsetgo Players will usually stay together as their 8 year old team from the previous year. PLEASE REMEMBER THAT 8 & 9 NET SET GO IS NON COMPETITIVE AND IS FOR LEARNING AND SKILL DEVELOPMENT. NO SCORING IN THESE DIVISIONS- THEY ARE ALL WINNERS J
