2 Editorial: In the next newsletter I ll be able to release early details of the 2017 National Chevrolet Festival which our club, along with the Shoebox Club of Qld. will be hosting in a S.E. Queensland town not too far from the Granite Belt and NSW border. Stay tuned. We wish our club members (over 20 in total) a safe trip to Mt Gambier for this years National Chevrolet Festival and hope they bring home some good memories, photos and perhaps a trophy or two! Apologies in advance for next meeting - Colleen and I will be in New Zealands South Island for a 15 day break - Wayne Barber will be the fillin chairman at the October meeting. We are in need of a Secretary to backfill the role Katrina Martin successfully carried out for the club since the start of the year - we knew this wasn t going to be a permanent gig for her as she has a pretty hectic schedule in her life. Thanks Katrina for stepping up and carrying out the secretarial duties. There must be someone in a club with 160 members who can spare a small amount of time once a month. Presidents Report: Hello All Members, New and Old, Our August club cruise to the Forestdale Motor Show was well supported. This show will grow and improve and we ve been asked to provide feedback on how it was organised - which we ve done. As usual there were other car events on the same day which makes us spoilt for choice on where to cruise to these days. Harrigans Rod and Custom show is just around the corner and organising in the background is well underway with a few new treats this year. Firstly, 70's drag racing legend, Gentleman Jim Reed has agreed to bring along his original hemi powered altered from the halcyon days of drag racing at Surfers Paradise. He will also fire up the beast to let the younger generation know what an old skool car like that sounds like. Secondly, we will be running the inaugural Miss Harrigans 2016 Pin Up Pageant, so don t miss this great event on the car calendar! Safe cruising in your Chevies. Highlight being 2 new items for 2016: Miss Harrigans Rod and Custom Pin Up competition and an appearance by Gentleman Jim Reed and his original hemi powered altered drag car which will be fired up on the day. All preparations going well. Need a couple more volunteers to help on the Saturday and Sunday as we re a couple down this year due to interstate commitments. Poison Arrow Clothing Co. have agreed to part sponsor of the Pin Up Pageant. Club Runs; September: September 11 run cancelled due to our cruise directors being overseas. October: Club members going to Mt Gambier for the National Chev Festival - see Bruce if you haven t done so already. OCTOBER: Sunday 16th Harrigans Irish Pub for the Rod and Custom Show OCTOBER: National Chev Fest Run to Mt Gambier. Most of those going were at the August meeting and travel arrangements were discussed with Bruce Morris.
