2 Paul London s Collection Story The Quencher Newsletter Editor has chosen Paul London for this editions Members Profile, and I hope that you will like the story that I have put together on Paul London s Collection. Paul started to collect a couple of Coca-Cola items in his youth (in the 0 s) whilst I lived in New Zealand, but my Coke collecting craze did not officially take off until I migrated to Australia in late 2008 and discovered a website called ebay. Someone mentioned to me about the Club in mid 2009 when I lived on the Gold Coast. I had forgotten about it until I moved to the Brisbane area in February I Started searching the Internet to see if I could find anything about a Club. Through the searching I stumbled across the Club s website. The first meeting I attended was in July 2011, but I did not officially join the club until November Then in January 2012 AGM, I joined the Committee as the Webmaster. The first meeting I attended was a little daunting to start with, as I did not know any of the other club members. I had only spoken to Robin Simpson (the Secretary) briefly on the phone the day of my first meeting attendance. I thought it was great there was a group of people that were actually more interested in collecting Coke rather than just drinking the product. Paul s Coca-Cola Collection Display I collect Bottles (aluminium, glass and plastic), cans (aluminium and old-style metal), key rings, paper/plastic cups and glasses, (die-cast) Matchbox cars and trucks, books, metal tins, collector trading cards, drinking straws, drink bottles, soft toys, tee-shirts, calendars, clocks and limited edition stuff (125th Anniversary, Olympics etc). Really, anything I find that I like. Favourite item from my collection is a collection of six old-style metal cans from New Zealand (before the modern aluminium can design was introduced). They were released in 1986 as the Santa Collection with a different design on each can. This set is the very first Coca-Cola items that started my collection. Paul s Coca-Cola Die-Cast Metal Train Set I also have an interest in Model Railways with various locomotive/diesel engines and many wagons/stock cars totaling into the excess a few thousand dollars. Paul London now lives in Sydney and is also a member of the Coca-Cola Collectors Club in New South Wales and makes a trip up to Brisbane for the QCCCCC Annual General Meeting in January. 3 From the Desk of the Quencher Newsletter Editor: As this edition of The Quencher Newsletter goes out to all the Members of the Queensland Chapter of the Coca-Cola Collectors Club Inc. the editor has been busy trying to find some more items to place in this edition and hopefully you will all enjoy what I have found for this edition. On Sunday 1st May 2016 the Toy & Hobby Fair was held at the Redlands PCYC this time round, and most of the collectors were selling mainly Star Wars and Collector Cards where a good crowd of collectors had turned up as the door opened. I also spoke to Sonny regarding the next Toy & Hobby Fair to be held back at the Table Tennis Club at Windsor on the 1st November 2016 an will be sent out before the November event. The Quencher Newsletter Editor had a return phone call from Francis McDonald to inform me that no new Coca-Cola items have been found around the place, so please make sure if you find anything new to get on the internet and send the photos to Francis so that he can get it out on the next Chatter Page for us all. The three photos above are showing the 2016 RIO Olympic Games Aluminium Bottles and Cans that have been released in RIO for the Games, and if you want to have a look at what else is going to be available on Ebay, and at this stage I haven t been able to get a photo of the Pins that are also coming out for the games. The Quencher Newsletter Editor has been out and about trying to find what s new around town and to date nothing has been found, so I decided to hit the World Wide internet again and found some more new Bottles that have been released on the Aluminium Bottle Collectors Club website for those of us who enjoy collecting Coca-Cola Bottles. The photos below showing the EURO 2016 Aluminium Bottles that have been produced for the EURO Soccer Cup being sponsored by Coca-Cola and are available over in Europe for the event. You will noticed on page five of this edition Coca-Cola has put up the trophy for the event. Page 3

He is also one of Coca-Cola s nominees to bear the RIO 2016 Olympic Torch Spreading happiness is the connection between visual artist Remero Britto and Coca-Cola s for the RIO 2016 Olympic Games project internationally renowned for his vibrant colors and pop style, Britto is also one of the company s nominees to bear the RIO 2016 Olympic Games Torch. He will be in charge of producing a series of works with the RIO 2016 Olympic Games theme, beginning with five paintings representing local elements from each of Brazil s five regions and a collection of five pins, reproducing parts of these paintings, which together will form the map of Brazil in a special edition kit. The partnership will also include the launch of a limited edition Coca-Cola Bottle, made of Aluminium, which will be sold in Rio-de-Janerio to celebrate the Olympic Torch Relay. As a Brazilian it is a wonderful feeling to be nominated as a RIO 2016 Olympic Torchbearer in my country. It s a unique opportunity and I want to help promote it and show that art also spreads happiness through its essence and its colors, says Remero Britto. The artist, who was born in the Brazilian state of Pernambuco, will be in Sao Jose dos Campos, at Sao Paulo State, on Tuesday the 29th, to meet students from a school selected among the participants over 700 thousand school children throughout the whole country. Remero Britto is a natural ambassador for Brazil abroad and he charms the world with the style of his art. The partnership turns into a storyteller of the RIO 2016 Olympic Games Coca-Cola story, from capturing elements from the five regions of the country, and also through the Torch Relay and with our special bottle, until RIO 2016 with pins, explains Xiemer Zanazua, President of Coca-Cola Brazil. I will hopefully have a photo of the Bottles and Pins available before this Edition of the Quencher Newsletter goes out to all the QCCCCC Members. The Quencher Newsletter Editor has been able to obtain a couple of photos of the Aluminium RIO 2016 Olympic Games Torch Relay Bottles that will be on sale around RIO for the Games. These photos were obtained from the Aluminium Bottle Collectors Club Website just to show you what is going to be available for the Games. Page 4

5 The Quencher Newsletter Editor has been busy searching the World Wide Internet since the last edition of the newsletter was sent out to all the Qld. Coke Collectors, and the group of following photos of some of the Aluminium Bottles that were released during the past few months have now appeared on the Aluminium Bottle Collectors Club website, and I am proud to release them for all the Coca-Cola Bottle Collectors here in Queensland and around the country to see what is available. 6 SHOW & TELL RESULTS MAY MEETING 15/05/16: The Show & Tell Competition for the May 2016 Meeting was for Coca-Cola Items relating to Fridge Magnets - Key Rings & Pens and again even though the number of members were down this time around the Show & Tell Competition only had five (5) members who selected the theme items from their collections to put on show and have the members present to pick out who they wanted to win this time around, and The Quencher Newsletter Editor has chosen to place the winners and other entrants items that he photographed into this edition to show all the Coke Collectors who weren t present to see what was entered. These two display boards entered by Col Mullins showing all the Magnets, Pens & Key Rings in his Coca-Cola Collection and tied with Steve Fick for 2nd place for the 2016 May meeting Show & Tell Competition. Congratulations Col, and well supported. This photo to the left showing a tray full of Coca-Cola Fridge Magnets entered by Rhonda Woodhead, and Rhonda told the members that they can also be used as Stick Pins. Thanks Rhonda for entering another spectacular group of Magnets. This photo above of the Coca-Cola display box of Key Rings was entered by Alan Woodhead and took out 3rd Place for the May Meeting Well done Alan. 7 The Quencher Newsletter went to Woolworths on Thursday 23rd June 2016 and found that Coca-Cola had produced the Coca-Cola Zero Limited Edition Olympic Games Cans that were on display and I have sent a couple of photos to Francis McDonald for the Chatter Page, and I have also placed below a couple of photos of the cans that are designed the same as the carton below. The Cans also show two of the sports that will be held during the Olympic Games, and I am not sure if they have produced any other sports on other cans for this series. The two photos below again showing the Shrinked wrapped Coca-Cola & Coca-Cola Zero bottles that were on sale at your local Caltex Star Mart service stations are back on the shelf 2 for $6.00 as they were when they first came out a few months ago, so if you haven t got yours yet now might be the time to get them while stocks last. This photo to the left showing the Gold & Red Coca-Cola Can that was shown on the Chatter Page, and I haven t seen any of these cans on sale in and around the Brisbane area as yet, maybe I will have to take a closer look in the drink fridges around the shopping centers when I next go shopping. This can is another item that has been put out for the Rio Olympic Games for With only a few weeks to the Opening Ceremony for the Games in Rio Coca-Cola might be giving us collectors a surprise release in coming weeks.
