1 BRDC NEWS No October AGM All Resolutions put before the Annual General Meeting of the British Racing Drivers Club held yesterday, 30 September were passed. There were 92 Members in attendance. Lord Beaverbrook, Harry Handkammer, Gordon Shedden and Philip Walker were elected to the Board. McLAREN AUTOSPORT BRDC YOUNG DRIVER OF THE YEAR AWARD Congratulations to the following who have been selected as finalists for this year s McLaren AUTOSPORT BRDC Young Driver of the Year Award: Jack Aitken Ben Barnicoat Ricky Collard Jake Hughes Will Palmer Toby Sowery The two day competition will take place at Silverstone in October and the winner will be announced at the AUTOSPORT Awards on Sunday 6 December CONGRATULATIONS Congratulations also to Oliver Rowland and SuperStar Dan Cammish who have recently won their 2015 Championships: Oliver Rowland Formula Renault 3.5 Dan Cammish Porsche Carrera Cup GB NEW MEMBER The following candidate has been proposed for membership of the Club. 2 MCE INSURANCE BRITISH SUPERBIKES CHAMPIONSHIP SATURDAY 3 & SUNDAY 4 OCTOBER 2015 Silverstone will be hosting the penultimate round of the British Superbikes season this weekend along with a packed programme of support races including Superstocks and sidecars. Australian whizz, Josh Brooks leads the championship by 28 points to four-time BSB champion, Shane Shakey Byrne. It is set to be a great weekend thanks to the current Indian summer, the Clubhouse will be open 9am 5pm Saturday and Sunday serving sandwiches on Saturday and a 2/3 course lunch on Sunday. ASTON MARTIN OWNERS CLUB SATURDAY 10 OCTOBER 2015 The following Saturday Silverstone hosts the annual Aston Martin Owners Club race meeting. It s a superb programme with a mix of modern and historic racing, including the GT4 and V8 Vantage Cup to the 45 minute Intermarque race, one of the longest running championships in the UK. Pre-war, 50s Sports Cars and Equipe GTS grids cater for those seeking nostalgia. The circuit will be well populated with beautiful examples of the Aston Martin marque. The Clubhouse is open 9am 5pm serving a 2/3 course lunch. HISTORIC SPORTS CAR CLUB SATURDAY 17 OCTOBER 2015 The traditional close to the UK historic club racing year is always popular with strong support from HSCC competitors enjoying their final blast of the season. The programme features the full spectrum of HSCC races with competitors vying for the final opportunity to collect points towards their annual trophies. There are historic single seaters such as Formula Ford, Formula Junior, F3 and the Derek Bell trophy as well as the Guards Trophy, Historic Road Sports and Historic Touring Cars. The Clubhouse is open 9am 5pm serving a 2/3 course lunch. The Challenge, now in its fifth year, attracts some of the UK s most talented young drivers from karting and cars competing to win test drives, experiences and equipment worth thousands of pounds. 3 NOTICE OF DEATH EDWARD LEWIS The Club have been informed of the death of Life Member, Edward Lewis who died peacefully on 23 September 2015 aged 92. Edward had an active and varied racing career from the 1950 s to when he retired to Menorca in A full obituary will appear in the Bulletin. Condolences have been sent to Edward s family.
