Martin) Newsday Planning on going to Jets training camp in 2015? Don't forget your tickets. Practices are free for training camp, which will be held in Florham Park, N.J. this year. But tickets are required for admission. In addition, the Jets will hold drawings for certain practices. All fan drawing submissions must be made by Wednesday, July 22 at 5 p.m., and the Jets will contact winners via with details by Friday, July 24. Tickets can be downloaded and drawing information can be found on the Jets' website at Following each practice, Jets players will sign autographs for the fans along the sideline. Available players will sign autographs if weather, time, and other circumstances permit. 2 As the Jets get close to training camp, I am going to examine the roster and give you my top 25 players. Each weekday, we will reveal another person on the list, leading right into camp. I am not including rookies on this list because I do not feel it is possible to fully evaluate them before they play a game. No. 8: Damon Harrison Last year s ranking: 7 Position: Nose tackle Age: 26 How acquired: Signed as an undrafted free agent on April 29, 2012 Years left on contract: Salary Cap figure: $2.35 million Looking back at 2014: Harrison is the most unsung of the Jets defensive linemen, but he has become an essential piece of that unit. Harrison does a great job clogging up the middle and is the main reason the Jets run defense finished fifth in the NFL last year. Harrison had 55 tackles, and Pro Football Focus ranked him the 14th best nose tackle/defensive tackle out of 81 they graded. The website has a statistic called stop percentage, which measures how many stops (plays that constitute an offensive failure) a player registers per snap. Harrison was No. 1 in this category. He was fifth in stops and third in run defense at the position behind Marcell Dareus and Ndamukong Suh. Harrison did not have a sack and was not really a factor against the pass. Harrison did not play in sub packages, making him a two-down player. Outlook for 2015: Harrison is entering a contract season, and the Jets face an interesting decision. It is going to be impossible for the Jets to keep all of these young defensive linemen. Is Harrison going to be the one they let walk away? Harrison had less of an impact than Muhammad Wilkerson and Sheldon Richardson over the past two seasons, but he is an integral piece of the Jets defense. Under Todd Bowles, Harrison s role should not change much. If Harrison can improve as a pass rusher, he could really increase his payday as a free agent. If Mike Maccagnan can somehow find a way to keep Harrison, it would continue a great story for the team. The Jets took a chance on Harrison out of tiny William Penn University in Iowa and he has become one of the best nose tackles in football. He went from stocking shelves at Wal Mart to the NFL and he is on the verge of getting a big contract. 3 But now that end Sheldon Richardson is suspended for the season's first four games, because of positive marijuana tests, Williams' contributions are even more important. Early reviews of Williams have been positive from coach Todd Bowles and Richardson, too. One thing the Jets' defensive linemen specifically like about Williams is his assertiveness, said nose tackle Damon Harrison. Williams might be reserved when speaking to reporters, but he's not like that around his line mates. Drawing a compliment like this from Harrison is high praise, considering the Jets' defensive line is one of the NFL's best. The unit has lofty standards. "Damn good guy, heck of an athlete, freakish athlete," Harrison said of Williams on Thursday after working out at James Caldwell High School with Parabolic Performance and Rehab's head trainer, Brian Martin. "He picked up on what we've installed. He picked up on that pretty quick, so it's allowed him to play faster than what other rookies have been doing. That's a credit to him, man, because it's not easy to learn an NFL defense. "And he communicates with us. He talks. That's one thing you don't find in a lot of rookies. They're quiet and they're just trying to learn. He talks. He wants to know: 'OK, what are you doing on this play?' He's trying to make sure he knows what you're doing, so that he can adjust his game to that." Harrison said he, Richardson and defensive end Muhammad Wilkerson already have "a good rapport" with non-verbal communication on the field. "Just one or two moves, I know what Sheldon is doing, I know what Mo is doing, or they know what I'm doing," Harrison said. "So we can adjust to each other. And [Williams] is trying to come in now and pick that up, too. He's not shy at all. You can't be. "I mean, he knows he's not the big man on campus anymore, but that's something everybody had to go through. It may be kind of a shock to him, but with everything that's going on now, we get a chance to see sooner than later what he can do." Harrison thinks Williams will "be fine" as long as he listens to Bowles and defensive coordinator Kacy Rodgers, and continues to communicate with the other defensive linemen. Harrison has similarly high hopes for the Jets' defense, despite Richardson's absence. "It's a good group on paper," Harrison said. "It's an even better group on Madden. But we've got to go out there and put it together, man. I think we've got a chance. If we can really just focus and buy into the system completely, I think we can be pretty damn good. Now, how good is yet to be seen." Brandon Marshall says Jets will be the last team he plays for (Darryl Slater) NJ Advance Media Wide receiver Brandon Marshall says he won't play for any other team after the Jets, who traded for him this offseason in a deal with the Bears. Well, he didn't say it, exactly. He wrote it on Twitter late Thursday night, during yet another Q&A session with fans. 3 P a g e

4 He was asked what team he will retire with, and when he'll end his career. This was his response, complete with a golf green/hole emoji: He then reiterated the point when asked how many more years he has left. This was his answer to that question: Marshall even came up with a clever reply when someone tried to tweak/challenge him with this question: "Why have teams traded you for practically a Gatorade bottle?" Anyway, will the Jets actually be Marshall's last team? He turned 31 in March and is entering his 10th NFL season. He has a lot of interests and opportunities outside of playing football, including raising awareness for mental health and doing NFL analysis work on TV. He currently has a regular panelist spot on Showtime's "Inside the NFL." Marshall does have two years remaining on his contract after this season. But there is no fully guaranteed money left on the deal after this year. (His 2016 pay $9.5 million is guaranteed for injury only.) So if, for some reason, the Marshall trade doesn't work out for the Jets this season, they can cut him in the offseason with no future salary cap ramifications. Marshall is due to count $9.5 million against the Jets' salary cap next season, and $7.5 million in 2017, after counting $9 million this season. The Jets gave him a $1.3 million raise for 2015 by reworking his contract during the trade process.
