2 Performance, it s in our DNA The Wattbike is the brainchild of former World Champion lightweight rower Ian Wilson and high performance coach John Wilson. With over 30 years of experience in elite sport, they recognised the need for a reliable, accurate, factory-calibrated, low cost bike for training and testing. After discussing their ideas with British Cycling s Performance Director, Peter Keen, a strict criteria was established and the Wattbike was born. The prototypes were handbuilt by engineer and sport scientist Milan Bacanovic and sport software specialist Dusan Adamovic over 7 years with regular feedback from Peter Keen to ensure the bike met the required standards. Showcased in March 2008 and launched later that year, the Wattbike has revolutionised indoor cycling setting new standards in accuracy, data, performance monitoring and ride feel and remains the only indoor bike to ever have been endorsed by British Cycling. The continual development of Wattbike and steadfast commitment to stay at the forefront of both technology and training makes Wattbike the ultimate performance improvement tool, whatever the goal. From its conception in Nottingham, England, Wattbike has grown into a truly global company with over 20 distributors serving over 50 countries across the globe. 4 Designed with Champions, used by Everyone Since it s launch at the Track Cycling World Championships in 2008, the Wattbike has been embedded in performance sport. After initially being chosen by British Cycling as it s talent ID, testing and training tool, the impact of the Wattbike was quickly recognised by other performance coaches around the world. Wattbike is now the de facto standard for indoor bikes and Wattbike is now the choice of World and Olympics champions from a whole host of sports in over 50 countries. Recently adopted by the UCI World Cycling Centre in Aigle, Switzerland, Wattbike have helped develop a standardised test which is now being administered at venues around the world to help discover the cycling stars of the future. Wattbike are the official supplier of bikes to the UCI World Cycling Centre and its satellite centres. The Wattbike has now been recognised as the gold standard for indoor bikes in the fitness industry too. 6 Technologically advanced, Scientifically Accurate Resistance The Wattbike uses a combination of both air and magnetic resistance to provide a smooth, realistic ride feel. The simple, predictable, adjustment allows full control over the resistance that can be altered whilst riding to achieve the desired output simply and effectively. Performance Monitor The Wattbike Performance Monitor is the brains of the bike. It displays power, heart rate and cadence as well as many other cycling parameters in real time to give riders and coaches the most in-depth, accurate feedback available on any indoor bike. The live pedalling display, the Polar View, provides a unique technique feedback experience. Accuracy Measuring 37 parameters, 100 times per second +/- 2% accuracy. SPD Compatible Pedal The Wattbike is supplied with multi use pedal suitable for use with training shoes as well as SPD and Look Keo cleats. Fully Adjustable Fit The Wattbike has a wide range of adjustment to ensure all riders can achieve the perfect riding position. There is an optional long seat post and long handle bar post for very tall riders. Ride Feel Riders experience the most realistic ride feel thanks to the unique resistance system ensuring the Wattbike feels more like riding a real bike than any other indoor bike.

7 The Polar View The Polar View is a unique innovation which can help your clients improve, whether they want to become a better cyclist or be more effective in their training. Clients can see their pedalling technique in real time on the on-board performance monitor, then make small changes to improve their pedalling technique graph. It s this unrivalled feedback which makes riding on a Wattbike the ultimate training experience. Beginner The cyclist is using the muscles on the front of the thigh but not activating the calf muscles. This loses momentum between the left and right leg and wastes energy. Intermediate The cyclist retains some momentum and is starting to use the muscles on the back of the thigh and calf. Elite Cyclist The cyclist has an excellent technique with very little loss of momentum between left and right leg, a good even distribution of power throughout the pedal stroke and excellent balance between left and right leg.

Accessible through tablet and smartphone, the app allows riders to test, follow bespoke training plans and workouts or simply record every ride with ease. Data is stored on the cloud and can be accessed from anywhere and shared with trainers, coaches, friends or teammates via or social media. Initially chosen as a rehabilitation tool by the British Army, the Wattbike has now been embedded fully within the testing and training structure for all personnel, with over 2000 bikes across the UK s uniformed and armed services.
