When the process is complete, the strategic plan will help evelopers fin great opportunities along the Re Line, an the zoning policies will encourage evelopers to buil neighborhoos that are vibrant, peestrian frienly an easily accessible by all moes of transportation. 10 Left urns/parking ImpActs In orer to maintain the safety of eicate lanes for the Re Line, Meriian reet an College Avenue will implement some left turn restrictions. Left urns will only be allowe at certain signalize intersections, an cross traffic at smaller non-signalize intersections will be restricte with a concrete meian. COCREE BARRIER However, rivers will still be able to access their estinations by making a U-turn at the next available intersection, which will be allowable for passenger cars in most locations. PArking ImPActs College Avenue between 38th an 66th reets: Share bi-irectional bus-only lane minimizes parking losses Some parking losses at stations an intersections Meriian reet between 18th an 38th reets: One eicate bus-only lane in each irection eliminates parking on one sie of the street for the whole segment Capitol Avenue between Marylan an 18th reets: Deicate northboun bus-only lane eliminates parking on the east sie of the street an eliminates metere parking in the owntown area Southboun bus-only lane is share with for right turning vehicles
11 raffic ImpActs InyGo unertook an extensive traffic moeling process which has shown that no major impact to auto traffic congestion is expecte with the conversion of lanes to BR-only. here are several factors that contribute to this: Riership moels preict a significant number of people woul shift from their personal car to the Re Line. ew left turn lanes at some intersections an the prohibition of left turns elsewhere in the corrior will reuce traffic back-ups. he existing heavy volume of buses in the corrior woul shift into the BR-only lane an out of the other lanes. Some rivers will take alternate streets, which currently have enough capacity to absorb the aitional traffic. All of these factors are expecte to prouce up to a 25% ecrease in vehicle traffic along the BR corrior.
