6 Bob Dougherty s Boat-Building legacy Every industry has them, the unique gifted icons that are always at the forefront of innovation. In the marine industry that icon was Bob Dougherty. In 1960, he joined Boston Whaler where he was key in developing the unsinkable hull. During his 30-year tenure he perfected the process, introduced the first V-bottom Whaler, and became Senior Vice President of Product Development and Engineering. In 1999, Bob Dougherty took the foam-filled hull process even further by molding the structural foam separately, then building it into the hull rather than injecting it blindly. His Rapid Molded Core Assembly Process or RAMCAP won him the Marine Manufacturers Innovation Award in 1999 and revolutionized the way boats are built. In 2001 Bob Dougherty was ready for a new challenge and Everglades Boats was born. The product line has grown to include center consoles and cabin models from 23 to 43 feet. Today, RAMCAP is still the core of every Everglades hull. Following the legacy of Bob s 50 years of dedication to innovation in boat building, the Everglades team continues to impress by producing the finest family fishing boats on the water. Everglades Boats is headquartered in Edgewater, Florida, where our plant qualifies as one of the most modern and advanced operations in the industry. The 125,000-square-foot facility boasts the latest technology to build boats, ensuring the integrity of the process thus allowing the utmost quality. This substantial footprint allows Everglades to build the majority of our components in-house, guaranteeing the highest of standards to disseminate from bow to stern and port to starboard. All fiberglass parts, the aluminum fabrication of frames and rails, as well as all wiring harnesses, are built in our modern environment with ease by skilled craftsmen. The most important benefit of manufacturing in-house materials is the ability for us to control our quality, without entrusting it to a third party. The results are evident. 13 235 Center Console It takes complex thinking and planning to make something simple. That s what it took for our team of engineers, who are all avid boaters, to create the 235cc, a family-friendly, multi-purpose fishing boat. Everglades understands that in addition to fishing, you may want to cruise, picnic or pull up on the sandbar with friends. To protect your valuable engine and propeller, Everglades designed a unique, split bow rail and removable ladder so you can pull your bow up onto the beach and easily climb off and on. Or, you can simply stretch out on the vast sun pad that covers the casting deck and lounge. Another example of attention to detail can be found in the head. A clever storage receptacle accepts the filler cushion that fits between the console front seat and sun deck. On the business end of the boat, we mounted a ski pylon on the hardtop. No matter where you move aboard the 235cc, you encounter comfortable, secure seating and handholds to keep you and your family safe and secure. 47 FISHING FOR MUSCULAR DYSTROPHY Fishing For Muscular Dystrophy (FFMD) was founded by Paul Robertson, a native of Maryland and successful entrepreneur and businessman. After being diagnosed with Limb-Girdle Muscular Dystrophy (LGMD) 15 years ago, Paul was determined to use his skills to raise awareness for muscle diseases. Combining his passion for fishing with his business savvy, Paul struck a strategic partnership with the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) and Everglades Boats since increasing research funding, awareness, and support for MD over the past 2 tournament fishing seasons. FFMD has launched a full-time professional offshore fishing team that competes at the highest-attended and most-publicized events on the East Coast and Gulf of Mexico on the 435cc. They attend numerous events to support Everglades partner network of top-tier dealerships. Following the offshore launch, FFMD plans to add a salt water in-shore team and a freshwater bass team each led by another person living with muscle disease.
