This report form will record the information that will be helpful to the ASCE Board of Direction, the Region 10 Board of Governors and Headquarters staff in evaluating International Groups. Groups may supplement the requested data with additional information and pictures if they wish. The report may also be utilized by officers of the Group as a management tool in developing different Group programs for the upcoming year. 2

If so, please describe how you recruit new members. YES NO While no formal program is in place, we do use word of mouth and several people have expressed an interest in joining ASCE. 4

ASCE on the formation of the ASCE New Zealand Group. November 2012 Informed Dr. Andrew Cleland, Chief Executive of the Institution of Professional Engineers New Zealand (IPENZ) of the possible formation of an ASCE New Zealand Group and agreement to work cooperatively if the Group formed. Topic: Low-Damage Seismic Design Technologies for Accelerated Bridge Construction (ABC). Engineering Lab, Dept. of Civil and Natural Resources Engineering, University of Canterbury. President, April Lander met with Harry G. Poulous, D Eng, PH.D, PE, Dist M. ASCE, Immediate Past President of the Australian Section. No meetings. President, April Lander met with Paul Gofton of Environment Canterbury to discuss a potential visit of ASCE New Zealand members to a demonstration site for best practices on construction sites. No meetings held as President, April Lander in the USA. President, April Lander met with Paul Gofton of Environment Canterbury to discuss collaboration on the Builders Pocket Guide for best practice on construction sites and associated videos and potential webinars. Discussion with Dr H.K. Banerjee (Ron), Ph.D, MBA, F.ASCE, FIE, FIEAust, CPEng, NPER, RPEQ, Director Region 10 (International) on possible Board of Governors meeting in New Zealand in

7 7.0 GENERAL Brief description of other programs, activities, projects, meetings, studies conducted by the Group during the past year: November 2012 Petition to Form the ASCE International Group in New Zealand submitted to the Region 10 Board of Governors. December 2012 Notification to ASCE New Zealand members that an application for the formation of an ASCE NZ Group submitted and under consideration by the Board of Governors of Region 10. Communication from Dr. H.K. Banerjee (Ron), Governor Region 10. Notification that a new ASCE Group forming in New Zealand. ASCE International Global Link. January The Regional 10 Board of Governors voted unanimously to form the New Zealand Group. ASCE members living in New Zealand informed of the formation of the New Zealand Group. First event of the ASCE New Zealand Group held at the University of Canterbury. February Articles on the 1) formation of the ASCE New Zealand Group and 2) on the ASCE New Zealand Group s first event published in the ASCE International Global Link e-newsletter. March Development of ties between the ASCE New Zealand Group and the ASCE Australian Section. MyASCE web space created for the ASCE New Zealand Group. June Development of ties between the ASCE New Zealand Group and Environment Canterbury. September Analysis of feasibility of a visit by the Board of Governors meeting in New Zealand in Development of a program including site visits, technical seminars, and logistics. 7
