19 The ASCE National Concrete Canoe Competition (NCCC) The First National Concrete Canoe Competition took place in It challenges students to combine technical skills with their creativity and innovation in a bid to win the America s Cup of Civil Engineering. 23 Entering the workforce after graduation would be a lot more intimidating if I didn t already have the support of the people I ve met because of my ASCE membership. There really isn t any other venue that closes the gap between students, recent grads, young engineers, and those who have gained some pretty solid experience but are still close enough in age to really remember what this first major career transition is about.
