This is an exciting time! In January 2018, the California Bankers Association (CBA) and Western Independent Bankers (WIB) merged to become the Western Bankers Association (WBA). With each organization bringing its reputation for excellence to the newly formed entity, WBA now serves nearly 200 members with focused advocacy and premier professional development programming. The merger represents an opportunity to leverage the combined strengths of CBA and WIB to support members across 13 western states and U.S. territories. Within WBA, the CBA division is a strong advocate for California member banks at state and federal levels, among elected officials, and with state and federal bank regulators. This engagement affords the entire WBA membership a forecast of the legislative and regulatory impact that may extend to the West Coast and beyond. 5 WBA Commitment Award In 2019, WBA will introduce the Commitment Award. This award will provide an opportunity to highlight the partner most involved with the association, most engaged with our member banks, and most impactful in their communities. Rather than being nominated and voted on, partners will earn points for their activities throughout the year the winner being the company with the most accumulated points at the end of the year; this will allow for unbiased tracking and clarity for our banks and partners on the purpose of the award. The first award will be given out at WBA s Annual Conference in Points 20 Points Each conference exhibit by a partner Each Social Impact campaign completed with a member bank A social impact campaign is not qualified by money given, but by time invested in enhancing the local community.
