Many thanks to the outgoing board and thanks for your service and welcome to our new board of officers. We have many challenges to face this upcoming year and we will need your expertise to make it happen. Again welcome officers and let s get the Moose moving forward again. We re starting the month off with a bang, on the 6th we will be having our own Kentucky style derby only it s with Moose! That s right Moose races, along with our Wild Card game. Mint Juleps will be our special. Should be a great time, race hats are optional! May 12th will be our kid s movie night with the great movie, Sing. 5:30 pm is the start time for the movie and it s free. May 13th it s time for another round of Are you Smarter than a 5th grader. Teams of two will compete in a multitude of trivia questions. May 14th is our Mother s day Breakfast starting at 8:00 am and going till 11:00 am. $8 for breakfast for adults, 12 and under $4, and kid s under 4 are free. So is Mom when accompanied by the family. So bring out mom and we ll do the cooking for you. May 20th will be the Moose Legion pig roast out at the pavilion. All members are invited to attend for some great food and company. It s only $10 per ticket to attend. May 20th will also be the garden tractor pull out by the ball field. You can come down and compete or just watch some great pulls. Food and beverages will be provided for a nominal fee or check out the Moose Legion pig roast under the pavilion. Should be a great day. We will be closed on Memorial Day May 29th, to honor all our deceased military veterans. Let s never forget all they have done for us. Their sacrifice has been keeping us safe and free for over 200 years. Please remember to pause and remember all they have done while we are enjoying our extended weekend. We have two big events coming up in June. Father s day will be hosted by the WOTM for their annual breakfast on the 18th. The ladies always serve us a great breakfast, don t miss it. Moosefest will be on June 23rd through the 25th. Music, entertainment and games will the order for the weekend. With two feature bands, Jacobs Grounded on Friday night, 89 Mojo on Saturday night and our great Quarter Auction on Sunday. Should be a great weekend. We will be raising money for charities and fixing the leaky roof on the lodge. Don t miss out on a great time, mark your calendars today. 2 2 NEWS FROM YOUR GOVERNOR Hello everyone and welcome to a new fiscal year! We had a great time last year and I'd like to thank you all for your involvement. We're going to keep the momentum going this year, with more fun and even some surprises in the works! With new ventures coming up like Moose Fest, there will be plenty of opportunities to support your local Moose Lodge while spending time with family and friends. There is a lot being planned over the next year, but our number one goal is a new roof! Exciting times! I hope to see everyone out enjoying themselves at the upcoming events and I am looking forward to a successful new year. 3 SPORTS 3 Monday night Pool continues during the month. Ron and Darla Kramer co-chair. Rich Smart and Mike Bezotte scored table runs. Aaron Perona and Lloyd Jester teamed-up to win the overall title for the Monday and Wednesday AM pool. Andy Burger chaired both leagues. The Monday and Wednesday AM golf leagues tee-off at 9:00 am starting May 1st and 3rd at Petrifying Springs. Jerry Boxdorff on Monday And Bob Merton on Wednesday return as chairmen. Lunch is served those days starting at 11:30 am. Horseshoes starts Wednesday evening on May 3. Jerry Simonsen and John Kaiser co-chair. Softball on our diamond commences Monday May 1. During all outdoor activities the refreshment stand and kid s playground will be open. The Wisconsin Moose Association has revamped it s sports program. Instead of one chairman for everything there will be committee chairmen for each event, overseen by an overall sports chairman. It is hoped that participation in these events will be increased. Lodge 286 s Dan Threlkeld will chair the State Pool Tournament, this year at EKM Lodge, Oct. 21. The Menominee Lodge hosts the State golf tourney July 15. Our Golf outing will be July 23 at Maplecrest. Diane and Mike Gastaldi, Roxanne and Bob Patrick co-chair. For all events, enter on-line or grab an entry blank on our front bulletin board. Notes: Graduation Day at Mooseheart will be June 3. All Lodges across the country support the Child City. A schedule of events is posted on the Mooseheart web-site. Our Friday night dinners have been a big success. If you haven t tried it, do so soon. Now is the time to join Kenosha Moose Riders for only a small activity fee of $10 a year. We have many events we are planning. We are all about getting together and just having fun whether it be on a ride or a local event. Remember the Moose Riders can be joined with or without a motorcycle, take part in all our activities in the comfort of your car! Applications are available in the hallway at the Moose lodge. Coming up we have a Bike Blessing on Saturday May 20th. We will meet at the lodge then head out to LaSallette. That day starts off the motorcycle season with an Iron Butt contest. Riding continues with the Cruisin for the Heart summer long poker run to get your miles on to win. Cruisin for the Heart is a great way to visit over 40 other lodges in WI, IL, IN and IA. All you need to do is buy a booklet and have it stamped at as many locations as you can. Many great lodges participate in this fun event! There are 10 activities being planned right now, do not miss out on all the excitement!! 5 NEWS FROM YOUR SENIOR REGENT 5 Hello Everyone! Not sure if you have heard, the Woman of Moose are starting off a new year as of May 01, So let me introduce myself as your New Senior Regent, Christine Schneider. I've been a member for many years and really enjoy taking on this honorable position. I really would like to thank our past Senior Regent Rose Mifflin and her board of officers for a job well done. I take pride in everything I do, work as a team and believe to follow in "always moving forward & positive". Mooseheart, Moosehaven and the Children mean the world to me in our organization along with our great members who all help to keep these Moose locations alive. As the warmer weather arrives we all want to get outdoors and keep motivated. So please visit our lodge any day of the week, bring a friend and see what we have to offer. Victoria's Cafe is open on Friday's 4-? for dinner, dancing & music, along with alot of other events going on each day of each month. Mother's day we will be holding our annual breakfast, so bring mom out and enjoy the men doing all the work! I look forward to an exciting year and encourage all our ladies to join in at our meetings on the 1st and 3rd 7PM, I would love to see new faces, new ideas and watch the membership grow to a huge success.
