1 Happy November, CHERRYWOOD NEWS & NOTES We are excited to start our first holiday season together and create new traditions at Cherrywood Pointe of Plymouth. If you are new to our community, we wish you a warm welcome. We are so glad you are here! This month, we are heading on a few trips: The Minneapolis Institute of Art, the movie theater, Kare 11, James J. Hill History Museum and last but not least, a trip back to the casino. We are going to Mystic Lake again but will be winning at Little Six! For this trip and all other outings, including grocery runs, please sign up at the front desk. Thanks to all of those who came to our last activity meeting. It s a chance to share feedback with our activity team and let us know what you d like to see on the calendar. Our next monthly meeting is set for Tuesday, November 20th at 4p. If you aren t able to join us but have suggestions or ideas, please reach out to Erin. Her contact information is on the calendar portion of this newsletter and at the front desk. We d like to invite you attend our monthly town hall meeting scheduled on Thursday, November 29th at 2p. This is an opportunity to share any concerns that you have and also hear from each department. This is held in the Community Room on the 2nd floor and is typically about minutes in length. 2 CHERRYWOOD NEWS & NOTES Over the past couple of months, we ve had outstanding volunteers and they will continue spending their time with us on a weekly basis in November. Yay! Thank you to Joni, Susie, Rich, Brenna and Shaun who do so much for our community! We d also like to thank our Club YES volunteers who lead our weekly Tuesday evening Bingo. We will be adding a new Club YES dance program on Sunday afternoons as well. We re so grateful for all our volunteers for what they bring to our community. Starting in November we will be moving our matinee movie to Saturday afternoon. If you ever want to watch movies on your own or with a group, please ask Erin for instructions. The dates for Audiology (Nov 7th) and Podiatry (Nov 14th) are listed on the calendar. Please contact the front desk if you d like to make an appointment. Please note that John B., the piano man, will be playing at 11a on Thursdays starting in November. He will be here on Thanksgiving and will be playing at 10a that day. Please contact Erin with questions. Last but not least, thank you for making our community so great. You are kind, welcoming and have created such an awesome community. This is held in the Chapel/Theater room on the second floor. We set up the service and get to follow along with the service (held at St. Philip s) here at Cherrywood Pointe. The pastor isn t here but it s a way for us to gather and worship together on Sunday morning. A special thanks to Janet for sending us the worship service and hymns so we can follow along. Bob - Bob joined our team last month and works with Roy to help keep our community spaces clean. Welcome Bob! Connie - Connie started about a month ago and is part of the activities team. Welcome Connie! Emergency Procedures & Thursday Trash Pick-Up Thank you for your patience during the fire alarm in October. As always, when the fire alarm system is activated, please remain in your room unless the fire or other emergency is in your room. Starting in November, we will do our best to send out information to recap what happened in the event of an alarm. We are aware that the doors to the trash rooms are heavy and tough to get in and out of. For this reason, we are collecting trash and recycling on Thursday afternoon. If you d like to participate, please place your trash (inside the trash bag) outside your door before 12:00pm and we will be by to pick it up.

5 Welcome Club YES! Club YES (Youth Extending Service) is a youth service program for students attending Wayzata High School. It offers students a wide range of exciting opportunities for volunteer service: Interfaith Outreach, Carnivals and Family Fun Nights, MATTER, City of Plymouth, Trillium Woods, Adopt A Highway and much more. Club YES is over 800 students strong! They support Cherrywood Pointe of Plymouth with the following programs: Bingo with Club YES - Tuesdays at 6:30p Sunday Dance Series - Sundays at 4:00p Special Dance Performance - Sunday November 18th at 4:00p Both programs will be held in the Community Room, located on the second floor. If you have questions or ideas for new projects with Club YES, please reach out to Erin E. We hope to see you there! 6 Greetings! Fitness Class Offerings & Updates We ve changed up a few things for November, so please check the calendar for some revised dates and times. Starting this month, we will be hosting all fitness classes in the Community Room (2nd floor) or in Dimensions/Memory Care (1st floor). We are also starting a partnership with the Ridgedale YMCA! Please join us for our daily classes. It s a great way to start your day! If you have a class request or questions about a specific class, please contact Erin E. Our fitness classes are inclusive and for all levels. We focus on what you can do. Try different classes and come more than once. I get a chance to get to know you and what you are looking for. And you ll get a chance to see if it s a good fit for you! If you haven t been to a class or weren't sure about starting, please stop by my office on the 2nd floor to see how to get started. Thanks, Erin Fitness Class Descriptions: Silver Sneakers Classic- New Class Taught by Ridgedale YMCA Have fun and move to the music through a variety of exercises designed to increase muscular strength, range of movement, and activity for daily living skills. Handheld weights, elastic tubing with handles, and a ball are offered for resistance; and a chair is used for seated and/or standing support. This class is typically 45 minutes in length. Fitness Class Descriptions: SAIL: Stay Active & Independent for Life Fitness Class: This is an class designed to maintain or improve balance, lower & upper body strength and mobility. This fitness class is designed for individuals 65 years or older and is for every BODY. This class is typically 60 minutes in length. SAIL Demo Class: This is a 30-minute class designed to maintain or improve balance, lower & upper body strength and mobility. This fitness class is designed for individuals 65 years or older and is for every BODY. Balance & Mobility This is a 45-minute class that focuses on strength and balance. A portion of the class is done seated and the remainder is standing. This class includes exercises that maintain or improve both static balance and dynamic balance. Balance Demo Class This is a 30-minute class that focuses on balance basics. Half of this class is done seated and half is done standing. This class includes exercises that maintain or improve both static balance and dynamic balance. Music & Movement In this seated, 30-minute exercise class, we use lightly weighted drumsticks to move to the beat of the music. This class is for all levels and all exercises are done seated. Chair Yoga This is a 30-minute seated stretching class that is practiced sitting in a chair or using the chair for support. This class incorporates different exercises (yoga poses) that focus on flexibility, stability and mobility. Tai Chi - New Class Taught by Ridgedale YMCA Tai big or great. Chi ultimate energy. Tai Chi is an ancient form of Chinese exercise consisting of slow, beautiful, relaxed movements that develop a sense of balance and harmony between mind and body. You will learn from instructors extensively trained in the martial arts. Exercise for your body. A study in concentration for you mind. Tai Chi practice will give you the opportunity to use all the information and movements learned in the Instruction class in a moving medita-
