3 Special Notes and Instructions Text Notifications HoustonPhotowalks.com now provides text messaging for some photowalks. Each photowalk will have a different text code. Standard text rates apply, subscription lasts all weekend. Maps Most event info includes maps. The push pins are approximate. Locations At almost every location, we will be on private property. Please be mindful of noise and conversation in any of worship locations, and careful for safety as we photograph the farm. What to Bring Along with your camera gear, there is a few other things to bring. Working Flashlight Fully Charged Cell Phone Rain Coat/Umbrella Boots/Extra Shoes Warm Clothing Rain Protection for Camera (plastic bags) Plenty of Water SNACKS (long day on Saturday)! Friday Night Mayor Bert Miller will be at his store, Navasota s Blues Ally, 129 E. Washington. He ll be there greeting photowalkers during Navasota s 2 nd Friday Stroll. Stop by and say HI! There is no official start time or start location for Friday night. Saturday The End times for all events are flexible. This way you can leave early if needed, or head to one of the optional locations listed in this guide! Saturday night s dinner is unplanned and unscheduled. Feel free to group or to eat on your own. Lee Tabernacle United Methodist Church has invited photowalkers to visit inside their worship area. This is the only church that we have official permission to go inside. 3

4 Friday November 12th Evening Photowalk Downtown Event: Photowalk: Historic Downtown Navasota Address: Along W. Washington, from 8 th Street to N Lasalle Meetup: Anywhere along the downtown strip! Location Info: 2 nd Friday Stroll - Once a month, stores and restaurants along the downtown strip in Navasota stay open late. This is a community gathering event with live music, fun and friendly people! Notes: We ve been invited to stop by the Mayor s place of business! Navasota Blues Ally is located at 129 E Washington. They will have live music from 6-8pm. Stop by for a photoop with the Mayor! Be sure and thank them for letting us invade their city for the weekend. Mayor s Site: Map 4

5 Saturday November 13th Morning Breakfast 7:30 AM Event: Address: Meetup: Location Info: Notes: Breakfast at the Famous Cow Talk Breakfast Buffet 7846 Highway 90 S, Anytime after they open at 7:30am Look for the big sign next to the Navasota Livestock Auction barns. Eat a good breakfast, its going to be a LONG day! Map 5

6 Saturday November 13 th Continued Morning Photowalk: Tour of Navasota Churches 8:30 AM Event: Photowalk: Tour of Navasota s Historic Churches Meetup: Cow Talk Location Info: We will be hopping to 8 different local historic churches in Navasota, Texas. Most of these churches are Texas monument locations, some have been around for 100+ years. Notes: These churches are well- respected locations of worship, not tourist locations. Be careful on the property and leave it the way you found it. Although most of the churches know we are coming, worshipers will not be expecting to have their photos taken. ** NOTE: PLEASE MEET AT COW 8:30AM. This meeting is where any last-minute details about the entire rest of the trip will be covered, including updates to maps and instructions on which churches have provide permission to photograph inside. ** NOTE: There is not an official route. To prevent getting in each other s photographs or having a large number of people in a church at once, you are encouraged to follow your own route. A church volunteer will be at the building all morning to receive photowalkers. 6

Afternoon Lunch Mallet Brother s BBQ 12:00 PM NOTE: You have two options for lunch Saturday Afternoon, you can have BBQ at the VFW, or join us for lunch at Mallet Brother s BBQ near the hotel. 9 Saturday November 13 th Afternoon Afternoon Photowalk & Sunset at Terrell Farm 3-9PM Event: Photowalk, Tour of the Historic Terrell Farm (Allen Farm on Google Maps) Address: 7855 Terrell St, Navasota, TX Meetup: Carpool / Caravan starts at the corner of 9 th Street and Washington (105) around 3:00 PM Notes: We will be there for the rest of the afternoon and evening as the sun goes down. This is a good chance to try out some light painting on some old buildings and structures. There s no official end time. Bring plenty of bottled water and some snacks to keep you satisfied until a late dinner. BRING SNACKS! More Notes: Map 9

10 Saturday November 13 th Evening Evening Dinner Casual, dine- on- your- own. Many folks will want to stay at Terrell late, some folks will want to leave early. Either way is fine, so our Dinner plans are very flexible. Photograph The Photographer (After Dinner) : Saturday Night Bonus: Photograph the Photographer, After Dark at Terrell Farm. For those interested, we ll stick around and try to find an interesting place to do some portraits of each other. Time to update that facebook profile! Sunday November 14 th Morning Breakfast: Hotel Lobby / Breakfast Room This is a good opportunity to check out before we leave for the Grimes County Courthouse. We probably won t be back in time before the 11am checkout.
