2 The Blue Jacket District of the Dan Beard Council of the Boy Scouts of America, welcomes you to the Shooting Sports Camporee. This camp is centered around shooting sports and marksmanship. All shooters at any level of expertise are welcome. To make things more interesting shooters will earn points for their marksmanship and will be awarded prizes based upon their overall results. This will be a fun event for beginners to seasoned veterans! IMPORTANT INFORMATION Understand that this is a working document, and plans are still in progress. Activities may change based on of Range Safety Officer (RSO), Range Masters (RM) and NRA Instructors (Instructor). In order to make this event a success we need help in the way of volunteers from each troop that participates in the camporee. Each troop will be required to provide at least one untrained volunteer. We are going to set-up many stations, so the Scouts can try many types of shooting, to minimize waiting time and to maximize their enjoyment. Therefore, we will need many volunteers. The more volunteers your troop can provide the better the event for everyone. So please do your best to recruit more trained volunteers. Upon Arrival When you arrive you will be greeted by our staff. They will provide you with a map of Camp Friedlander that you can use to navigate to your assigned campsite. You will be able to use your vehicle to take your trailer to your campsite. If you do not have a trailer you may take gear back in a single vehicle. Each troop will be permitted to have only one vehicle in the camp at a time. Camp staff will be in charge of this and they may require the use of the pull-carts to haul gear. Please be flexible and know that if they limit vehicles it is for the safety of everyone. General Information Campers will provide their own tents and bedding. Campsites will be assigned at check-in. A greeter will be at the entrance and will let you know which campsite your troop will be assigned to. If you have special needs please contact Michael Michael.stamat@scouting.org. All meals will be the responsibility of the individual troops.

3 There will be a civil war reenactment demonstration over lunch at the Trailblazer shelter. Pack and carry your lunch or bring your supplies for a cold lunch to the shelter. We ll a lot 20 minutes for meal preparation followed by a 1-hour presentation and clean-up. Scouts should bring their own water bottles and should carry water at all times. A detailed event schedule will be provided at check-in Participants must attend a safety briefing before each event Troops are responsible for cleaning up their campsite and packing out all trash All shooting sports events will take place under the trained eye of NRA certified instructors for each discipline. Scouts must have a buddy when traveling between events and otherwise moving around camp.

7 Questions & Answers Do we have to have shooting experience to attend? No, Instructors will be at each station for helping scouts Can our troop or crew attend Saturday only as opposed to the entire weekend? No, this is a weekend camporee. Can we invite WEBLOS to attend with our Troop? No, this is a Boy Scout only camporee. Can we bring take our troop trailer to our campsite? Yes, each group will be allowed to use one vehicle to pull their trailer or haul there to their campsite. All vehicle traffic into the camp will be under the strict supervision of the Camp Friedlander staff. Call (513) if someone is not at the gate. Will we be permitted to keep a vehicle at camp? No, vehicles may only be used to transport trailers and gear. They must be removed as soon as possible and parked in the lot in the parking lot front of camp. Can we set-up our campsite early Thursday, April 12 th? Special accommodations may be available for early set-up depending upon site availability. Contact Michael Stamat at (513) the week of April 8 th to check. When may we depart camp? 9:30 am Can our Scouts handle the firearms at the Civil War Reenactment? No, not under any circumstances may Scouts or youth handle firearms outside the ranges under qualified supervision. Please be certain every Scout, Scouter and adult in your group understands this.
