2 Prelim Program Guide, 3/1/2017 This is a preliminary guide only. Some aspects of the program may be adjusted to accomodate for time, completion of program features, and events. Hear ye, hear ye, Scouts and Scouters! Come one, come all to the Soaring Eagle Spring Camporee, "Renaissance Faire. The dates are April 21-23, Bring your Scout skills to days of yore. Test your aim as you slay the dragon and as you pit your skills against archers from near and far. Work as a team to save the princess, a maiden most fair. Build a castle. Repair a catapult. Being a knight is dangerous work. Tend to your injured fellow knights. Is your patrol worthy of bringing home Excalibur? Troops are responsible for their own meals. Cooking competitions for both Scouts and Scouters will be held. Planned Stations: Knight Mending. After a conflict with another army, your knights have returned wounded. As squires, it is your job to quickly mend them so that they can fight again. Treat their cuts, gashes and other wounds as fast as possible, but remember, you are their subordinate; you must treat them with utmost respect. Castle Building. Your castle was damaged during a recent attack. Now, an invading army is using trebuchets to hurl 20 pound stones at you. Using only what the knights left behind, quickly build a fortress that can defend against these attacks. Slay the Dragon. Your band of squires has been chosen to slay a dragon that has been terrorizing peasant villages as one of your final steps towards knighthood. Since you are not a knight yet, you will not be using long-swords. Instead, you will use tomahawks to slay this dragon Good luck.

3 Save the Princess. A fair maiden was pursued by a dragon several days ago. A knight was sent to save her then, but the dragon was recently seen flying towards another village, using his sword as a toothpick. You squires have been chosen to rescue the princess as a steppingstone towards knighthood. Find her and bring her back! Earl of Loxley. Robin Hood is currently in prison for robbing Prince John. You and your fellow squires have been sent to Sherwood Forest in his stead to deal with the outlaws therein. To deter further crime, place apples on their heads for target practice! Pelt the Peasants. The knights were enjoying a fair game of pelt the peasant using the city s catapults, but amid their celebrations, they broke the firing arm. As their squires, you ve been assigned to fix it. Fix it quickly, and you may even get to pelt the peasant yourself! Craft a Carriage. Being a humble squire, you must accommodate the needs of all the local knights. Build a carriage to carry around the necessary equipment, should a knight ask for it. Each carriage must hold a jug of water, should a knight be thirsty; a large first-aid kit, should he be injured; quill and parchment, should you need to take notes; a patrol flag, to prove your loyalty; and a scout handbook, in case a knight is bored and would like to read. These carriages must be taken with you throughout the day, and will be judged during the lunch break for aesthetic appeal, creativity, and the use of scout skills. Competition Events Cooking: Scout patrols may submit one lunch main dish for judging during the mid-day break. Adult leaders may submit one dessert per troop for judging during the dinner break. Horse race: This is your final task to becoming a knight. You must prove that you can ride a steed with speed and dignity. You will be carrying a sword and shield while competing in this great race. Knights will also be competing. Proving that you can outride them will surely prove your worthiness of knighthood.
