3 For some time now the adventurous activities boating team have researched ways they could invigorate scout boating.

4 Feedback from our last Regatta suggested we needed to expand our activity areas and offer more scouts water activity opportunities.

7 Regattaland Scout Float Fest 2017 will be a patrol based event. Patrols will register their preferences for activities and camp together. Patrols from the same troops and districts can camp next door to each other. Preference for available events will be offered with early registration. Each activity site will be independently managed. Site, Racing, Obstacle, Canoeing, Archery, Rock climbing wall and so on.

8 Campsite Patrol camping in 5m x 3m allotments enclosing a scout safe area for climbing and cinema. Leaders and Venturers will have their own campsites.

9 Activities inside the campsite Scout Movie Screen Rock Climbing Wall April is usually a good weather time but if the weather proves undesirable the we will be well prepared with alternate activities.

10 Land activities outside campsite Kelly Johnson and James Carter will run an environment badge program. Archery Tag Geocaching

11 Rowing The course is 250m long. Scouts start and row around their own buoy at the end and back. The boats will be timed by their leaders with stop watches.

12 More rowing fun Once the rowing race is completed, Scouts can enter the obstacle course. The activities will include: Nautical navigation Mine field labyrinth Man overboard

13 Canoeing fun Canoeing could be offered in 1 hour units that Patrols have registered for. Float fest is a canoeing world record numbers attempt which scouts can also participate in. This would be led by ABC -Canoeing

14 Kayaking journey (Possible explorer level journey)

15 Scout Sailing Scout sailing offered in 1 hour blocks that patrols have registered for.

16 Planning for 360 Scouts It will not be possible to offer 360 scouts a turn on some of the e activities. Early registration and preferences will divide these opportunities but overall they will be busy and happy. 17 Venturer Leader Teams Venturers are welcome to participate in activities. We also want Venturer teams to play a strong supportive role in the leadership of activities. We should encourage as many Venturers who are interested to complete endorsements and or work on activity teams.

18 Rover Leader Teams Rovers, please bring your teams, ideas and run an activity. The boating team will be glad to help you with any endorsements you might need.

19 Leaders Each activity area is managed by its own leadership team. The Regatta 2017 is a branch event initiated and supervised by Adventurous Activities Boating. The event will be coordinated by the ABC Boating Youth Programs Ian Vayne who reports to the BC Boating Jeff Playfair. All leaders who are running activity areas are required to be fully qualified. 20 Leaders Continued Scout Leaders Each Patrol will have its own leader assigned by their group. These leaders will assist their patrols with base camping and will eat their meals with their patrols. Leaders can also request to become part of an adventurous activity team as long as it doesn t conflict with their obligations to their own scouts.

21 Police Scouters

22 Leaders camp and galley There will be a leaders camping area. It is large enough for leaders to bring their own caravans. If Leaders wish to they can self cater or use the galley.

23 Electronic registration Scouts SA have quality electronic registration facilities. We will need to get the full program published and online before October.

24 Early Announcements. All Leaders Meeting Tuesday 7:30pm August 16 th 2016 Glenelg Adventurous Activity Centre The Adventurous Activity Boating team will be rolling out the new programs for: Cub and Scout optimist sailing at Glenelg. Scout and Venturer small boat sailing. Regatta 2017 which will be partnered with the Murray Bridge Float Fest and will offer a large upgrade to activities and experiences. Leader and Venturer endorsements and training programs.
