KRAGENÄS AT YOUR SERVICE! Welcome to Kragenäs! It is fun to know that you have chosen this seaside-located meeting place, which invites to loads of exciting scouting activities.

1 KRAGENÄS AT YOUR SERVICE! Welcome to Kragenäs! It is fun to know that you have chosen this seaside-located meeting place, which invites to loads of exciting scouting activities. With help of the facilities of Kragenäs, every scout troop get a chance to design their own programme adapted to their needs. While on site, do not forget to visit other scouts and their camps. Kragenäs has a bunch of fixed programme activities, technical service and lovely nature. From July 26 to August 10 we are trying out new programme activities and new service functions. Our crew can help you with ordering food for the whole camp as well as storing and cooling it for you. As an extra service for you we are expanding our crew, the so called kragenäsare. The kragenäsare are the helping hand of our guests and visitors. They are always at your service during your stay. Apart from the service mentioned above, we offer several fixed service facilities, such as toilets, garbage collection, running water, cooler, freezer and charging possibilities. The Kragenäs Kiosk is open daily during the summer season, offering different kinds of sweets and beverages. This booklet is meant for information and inspiration for you during your planning. 2 ENHANCED SERVICE, July 25 - August 10, for FOOD and FREEZERS -We can help you ordering food for your troops during your stay -We can help you with refrigerators and freezers for your food The kragenäsare wants to ease your stay by helping out with the food handling during this period. The food is ordered by us and will be delivered to the campsite by our distributors. We will help you with storage of food in need of a refrigerator or freezer to make the handling as safe and healthy as possible. Unopened packages of dry goods and frozen goods will be returned with and a refund will be credited to you. We have already planned the menu for each day at Kragenäs, but you always have the possibility to change this. The day before delivery, additional food can be ordered from us. This service is free of charge; you only have to pay for the food itself. After your stay, we will send an invoice to you with the exact cost for the food. 3 JOINT ACTIVITIES, HELD BY THE KRAGENÄSARE - Will be held at specific times (see below). - Always free of charge. Registration in beforehand is mandatory. - Leaders have to accompany minor scouts. During some days of the summer season we have planned joint activities for all of the our visitors at Kragenäs. It is up to you if you want to participate, but we invite all of you with the aim of you getting to know new people and meet new scout friends. If you are interested in participating in one or some of our activities, please tell us how many of you will participate before May 31. Welcoming activity - get to know Kragenäs and the other participants on the campsite Sunday July 20, Sunday July 27 and Monday August 4 at 7-9 P.M Take the opportunity and get to know the other scouts at Kragenäs. You will be divided into several groups and do missions together at the campsite. Bring postcards or pictures from your home town (one postcard per eight participants). The VILDA-programme, August 3-9 Sunday August 3: VILDA opening ceremony, 8 P.M. Wednesday August 6: VILDA campfire, 8 P.M. Friday August 8: VILDA closing ceremony, 8 P.M. These activities are held at the campfire site of Kanotviken. You are welcome to participate even if you are not participating in the VILDA programme. -, volleyboll- and soccer tournament Tuesday July 29 and Tuesday August 5, 2-5 P.M. Final 7-8 P.M. Try the Scandinavian sport brännboll or challenge your friends in volleyball or soccer. Swedish fika and activitetes for leaders and scouts in the age 15 and older. Sunday July 27 and Thursday July 31, P.M. Get a chance to relax and meet new friends. If you are interested, fika is sold for an approximate fee of 20 SEK for each participant GÖTEBORG Page 3 of (0)

Please visit our home page for the most updated information. Campfire at Kanotviken Monday July 28, 8-9 P.M. Would you like to know what a traditional Swedish campfire ceremony is like? Please visit us and why not prepare your own traditional song or a skit for the other participants? Eveningcanoeing for participants from 15 years and older Wednesday July 30 and Thursday August 7, P.M. Our skilled crew will help you, both with equipment and the route to make this an unforgettable evening. Sandcastle competition at Badviken Wednesday July 30 and August 6, 3-5 P.M. Register your patrol, 3-6 participants, up on arrival. There are two separate competitions: The tallest castle or The most stylish castle. 5 - KRAGENÄS S FIXED AND READY - PROGRAMME ACTIVITIES - Activities ready to try out during the whole summer season if nothing else is mentioned - All of these activities are marked on the map of the campsite - Registration for the activities can be made both before and during your stay - For these activities, no crew from Kragenäs is availible - These activities are free of charge if nothing else is mentioned Hot tub Just outside of Pannbergsstugan is Kalle s hot tub, which can accommodate 6-7 people. The water is heated by a woodstove. For safety reasons, leaders have to be on site at all times. Fishing equipment (fishing and spinning rods, handlines, crabfish equipment) You are allowed to fish for free at Kragenäs! Borrow fishing equipment from us and enjoy the wonderful calmness that only fishing can give you. Obstacle course At Kragenäs there is an obstacle course which is approximately 400metres long, consisting of ten different obstacles. Challenge yourself or your friends, everything is up to you! Giant croquet Think croquet, but bigger! The balls are bigger, the club is bigger and the hoops are bigger. Kayaks We have got two one cockpit -kayaks rentable for private excursions. Price for one kayak: 20 SEK for one morning, afternoon or evening. 50 SEK for one day. During the VILDA-week usage of the kayaks is free of charge. Canoes During the summer season, we have 16 rentable canoes at Kragenäs. Necessary equipment (life jackets and paddles) is provided by the kragenäsare, but no instructors are available during private tours. Price for one canoe: 20 SEK for one morning, afternoon or evening. 50 SEK for one day. During the VILDA-week usage of the canoes is free of charge. The Kragenäs badge This activity is a way to get to know Kragenäs and get a memory. Complete our missions and conquer the Kragenäs badge. This is an appropriate activity for the patrol to make early during their stay at Kragenäs. Whoever completes the missions may get the Kragenäs badge from his or her leaders. Scout groups can buy the badge, but it is not sold to individuals. The one who has received five badges can get one with a silver frame. 6 Kragenäs woggle Make your own Kragenäs woggle made of skin and a leather strap, with the brand of Kragenäs burnt onto it. Tools are borrowed from the crew and the material needed is sold for 15 SEK per woggle. The Kragenäs Kiosk, open daily July 26 - August 10 Always prepared! Here you can buy ice cream, sweets, beverages and scouting equipment as well as postcards and stamps. There is also a mailbox at the kiosk. Gathering areas At Kragenäs there are several areas prepared for gatherings of all kinds. These can be booked for your own activities. Please contact us for further information and recommendations. Hiking If you would like to hike during your stay, please contact us for further information and recommendations. We are always happy to help you! The nature trail, 4km of tracks and 23 checkpoints Take a walk in our beautiful nature! At each checkpoint, there is a lot of interesting information about the nature and the wildlife of Kragenäs and its surroundings. The pier This is a bridge for keel boats and ships, formerly used as a loading dock for timber. Runestones At Kragenäs there are pleany of runestones, raised during different camps. The oldest runestone is from In this activity, you will learn how to decipher the runes and you may also try to cut your own runestone. Underwater track This track is located in the sea. Use one of our twelve snorkels and masks and try to find letters attached to buoys in the water. Orienteering Lend a map and a compass and be prepared for a challenge! There are several control points of varying severity at the campsite. Photo orienteering Get to know Kragenäs better by finding the locations given on photos. 7 OTHER THINGS TO BORROW AND DO AT KRAGENÄS At Kragenäs we have a lot of activity bags with equipment and rules or instructions. Activity bags can be borrowed by any adult, who is responsible for it until it is returned. Damaged or lost equipment must be replaced. - Our kragenäsare is at your service to lend you our activity bags - Pre-registration is not required, but recommended if you want to secure you get what you have planned to do - In the activity bags there are short instructions (when needed). No further assistance from the kragenäsare can be provided If you have a good idea, we are happy to invest and expand our collection of activity bags. 8 THE SURROUNDINGS OF KRAGENÄS The surroundings of Kragenäs are fantastic! This information is provided for you to plan your own activities and get the most out of your stay. This bronze age village is located approximately 10km from Kragenäs. Phone: +46(0) Hornbore Viking village and Hornbore ting A Viking village, located near Hamburgssund. In the first weekend of August each year, the Hornbore ting (a market Viking market) is arranged. The Koster islands The most westerly populated islands of Sweden. Boats leave from the centre of Strömstad at a regular basis. Tjärnö The Tjärnö station of marine biology is located near Strömstad.
