5 Congratulations TO THE LCHS CHAMBER CHOIR! The LCHS Chamber Choir directed by Mr. Christopher Fiorini and Ms. Andrea Loer was awarded 1st Runner Up at the 43th Madrigal & Chamber Choir Festival held February 28 - March 1, 2014 at Coker United Methodist Church in San Antonio, Texas. COPPERFIELD COURIER CYPRESS FALLS HIGH SCHOOL CHOIR The air is electrical with fresh sounds of countless joy! Our students blend right along with the beautiful spring chorus. Time seems to pass so quickly and we can not fathom the end of this school year is on the horizon. So much has been accomplished and the promise of more is abounding. Students push themselves all year vocally to be their best. Tryouts at many levels and competitions are held. And those that persevere to compete get a chance to become a member of the Texas All State Choir. We are so proud of our four students that made this highly acclaimed honor. Hearty congratulations go to: Tyler Denton, Marguerite Lavin, Evan Moynihan and Elyse White. (see photo) Our highly anticipated pop show PIZZAZZ was a huge success. Legends was the theme, complete with a Beatles montage, Elvis and his blue suede shoes, ending with a crowd pleasing Thriller by Michael Jackson complete with creepy undead encroaching the audience. Choreography was great, the numbers well done, and the entire performance was A+!!!! DVD purchase of the show are available through the choir directors, just let your favorite choir member know. Thanks go out to the countless volunteer hours of our parents and volunteers who toted students to and fro, purchased costume needs, provided make up, fog machines and treats. WE LOVE OUR VOLUNTEERS! April with it s showers will hold our annual carwash! April 5th in the Burger King parking lot at Hwy6 and cherry Park Dr. starting at 9:00am suds will be flying and dirt flowing away! Please consider having your car washed by our fantastic choir students. It s a win/win! UIL will be April 10 & 11 and we wish all our attendees well. We are confident that you will sweep up the contest!!! Also this month, our Spring Trip to San Antonio. The 11th, 12th and 13th will find the Alamo city with exploring, fun loving, musical guests. Memories will be made and laughter will fill the air as this fun event unfolds. Will the river walk ever be the same? May 24th will find us at LaHacienda for our banquet. Everyone always shines as they enjoy dining together, reminiscing over the past year, and sharing plans to come. And then there s dancing! Of course our engine that makes all this possible is the dedication and hard work of our choral directors. Without their devotion and consistent, loving guidance, our students surely would not soar as high. Blessings continue to flow over our children from Deidre Douglas and Matt Perez. 7 GIRL SCOUTS OF SAN JACINTO COUNCIL Food, costumes, crafts and lots of excitement were part of the Copper Creek Meadows Thinking Day Event on Feb 20. Thinking Day (officially Feb 22, the birthday of Lord and Lady Baden Powell) is the day on which Scouts think about Scouts and Guides in other countries We remember that we are part of an international movement with members in many different countries. Troops staffed booths representing Ireland, England, Russia, Italy, the Philippines, Japan, France, USA, Egypt, China, South Africa, Micronesia, Australia, Germany, Tanzania, Pakistan, Peru and Brazil. Girls attending had their passports stamped at the various countries represented, shared SWAPS, and donated to the Juliette Low World Friendship Fun, among other activities.. They may also have learned a few words in Swahili, experimented with using chopsticks, made a paper fan, or tried some food favorites from other countries. A flag ceremony and recitation of a special poem honored the traditions of our own USA. Many thanks to Jewel Cardenas Munoz who coordinated the event, and to troops 16162, and along with all those who helped with the event! March 12 is the birthday of Girl Scouting in the United States, and we can now count 102 candles on the Girl Scout birthday cake! Many Girl Scouts celebrated Girl Scout Sunday/Sabbath at their places of worship, or had a troop birthday party during Girl Scout Week. Girl Scouts of San Jacinto Council had a booth at the Houston Children s Festival- hope you stopped by to see us! Cookie Sales continued through the end of March. Cookie sales help to fund activities for individual troops, and support our Council camps and special programs. We appreciate the support of our friends and neighbors! Did you get a chance to try the Cranberry Citrus Crisps? That was this year s new cookie. We would also like to thank Selena Henderson, and all our troop cookie moms and dads! We know how hard you work! Copper Creek Meadows is working on plans for more events before the end of the school year, but Girl Scouting activities continue during the summer at Council resident, day and twilight camps! If you are a registered Girl Scout, you should have received your camp catalog in the mail- or visit for more information. Information on day and twilight camps was in the March/April issue of the Golden Link., or checks the Council web site, Girl Scouting is open to all girls ages 5 (must be in kindergarten) through 17 who are willing to accept the Girl Scout Promise and Law. Girls may join at any level, and no prior Scouting experience is required. Don t forget that many of our most exciting opportunities are available to older girls, and that girls whose schedules do not allow for troop membership may participate as Juliette Girl Scouts. Copper Creek Meadows serves girls in the residence areas for the elementary schools listed below, plus the corresponding middle and high schools. Home schooled and private school students are always welcome. Our elementary schools are: Lieder, Metcalf, Wilson, Tipps, Texas Christian School; Birkes, Fiest and Lowery; Horne, Owens, Hairgrove, Kirk, Lee, St. Elizabeth Ann Seton and Christian Life Center Academy.
