2 Meet the Judges Jody Brill currently serves as head cheerleading coach at Wisconsin Lutheran College. She started the Warrior cheerleading program in 2000, the same year that the college s football program began. Prior to WLC, Jody coached for 16 years at the high school level. She had an unprecedented run of claiming 5 state championships and 6 runnerup finishes for her squad during an 11 year stretch. Jody is very involved in the cheerleading profession. She has worked several summers for UCA, is considered an expert in safety, legal liability, and sportsmanship. Jody is also an instructor for the American Association of Cheerleader Coaches and Advisors (AACCA) is the Milwaukee Bucks Cheerleading Competition Consultant. Brill is an accomplished cheerleading judge, having judged both the State high school cheerleading championships and the UCA National Championships in Orlando Florida. Ashley Evans has been judging cheerleading competitions since her college days. She cheered for UW-Oshkosh and then went on to cheer for Wisconsin Lutheran College. She is currently a Copywriter for Kohl's Department Stores. Julie Kerkman is the current president and judges trainer/coordinator for WACPC. She has been judging competitions for many companies at the local, state and national levels for over 20 years. Julie has coached high school cheerleading for 16 years and at the college level for 8 years after cheering in high school and college herself. She was the long-time director of a youth cheer program and currently coaches a high school cheer team. Julie coordinates cheer and dance judges for many competitions in Wisconsin and Illinois; she is trained and certified by several cheer and dance companies as a judge. She teaches English at the high school and college level and is married with one son. Colleen Kielas was the head cheer coach at East Troy High School from and stayed on as the assistant coach until During that time, her team achieved many awards including 1998 National Finalist, 2006 Southern Lakes Conference 2nd place team, 2007 Southern Lakes Conference 1st place team, 2008 Rock Valley Conference 1st place team, and 2009 Rock Valley Conference 3rd place team. Colleen has been a certified WACPC judge since Emily La Sage is currently a sophomore at University of Wisconsin Platteville where she is majoring in Agribusiness with an emphasis in communications and marketing. During her free time, she is a part of the Sigma Alpha sorority, the Pioneer Dairy Club, the Pioneer Cheer and Stunt team, as well as interning at Badgerland Financial as a crop insurance agent. Emily has been cheering for over ten years and has also helped with the Sparkles program at Platteville, which is the first collegiate special needs program for cheerleading. Emily is a certified WACPC judge. Natalie Pignatelli cheered for ten years for the CYC Raiders and for three years for her high school. Natalie s senior year of high school, she started coaching the freshmen team at Tremper. After graduation, Natalie choreographed for local high schools and started coaching at Wilmot High School. For several years, Natalie coached at Wilmot and led her Freshman/JV team to victory as WACPC JV State Champions (JAM). She has been judging for WACPC since 2005 and currently helps at local high schools when she is able. Monica Pless has 11 years of cheerleading experience as well as three years of dance experience. She has cheered at the youth, middle school, high school and college level. Monica is a WACPC certified judge and has judged all levels from youth to high school level. Lauren Sauter cheered all four years of high school. She is currently attending the University of Wisconsin- Washington County, pursuing a degree in Business. Lauren is a WACPC certified judge. Amber Sexton has been a cheerleader for 10 years and counting. Amber was on Wolf Pack All Stars for three years and then went on to cheer on the varsity team for four years at her high school. She coached grades 5-8 for four years. Amber currently cheers at UW-Milwaukee. She has been judging cheerleading for two years. Lisa Sexton has 14 years of cheer experience in both high school and all-star cheer. She has eight years of coaching and choreography experience. Lisa has been on UCA staff for six years and was a Milwaukee Bucks cheerleader. She has seven years of judging experience with UCA, WACPC, and other various organizations. Paula Stanislawski has been associated with the sports of cheerleading and dance for over 20 years. Her involvement includes participating, instructing, choreographing, and coaching various levels of cheer and dance teams. Paula is a WACPC trained technical judge. She has been judging local, regional, and state competitions for over 12 years.
3 KMLHS Sportsmanship Statement Kettle Moraine Lutheran High School promotes good sportsmanship at our events. Athletes, coaches, and spectators are expected to show consideration for others through their actions at all times. This includes during awards ceremonies. Please keep in mind the following: Demonstrate self-control; your behavior reflects on your team, school and community. Display humility and courtesy regardless of placing. Support and recognize performances by all teams. This includes remaining in your seats until all awards are distributed. Respect the decisions of performance and technical judges. Cheer Division Definitions GRADE: Average grade of the team TEAM SIZE: SMALL: teams of size 11 & under; LARGE: teams of size 12 & larger SCHOOL SIZE: DIVISION 1 large schools with enrollment over 1000 General Announcements The trainer will be available in the gym until the conclusion of the competition. Lost and found is located at the announcer s table. Concessions will be available for purchase throughout the day. If you leave the building and would like to return, make sure to receive a hand stamp. We ask that you do not save large areas in the bleachers. Seating is on a first come basis. Please comply with fire safety regulations and keep the bleacher aisles free and doorways unobstructed. We ask that you remain seated during performances. Please also remain seated during the entire awards ceremony out of respect for the competing teams. If you encounter any problems, or have a particular concern, please locate an event staffer.
