Turnabout - American Coach to help with Developing European Soccer Players! 09/30/03 2:00 PM GLASGOW, SCOTLAND (Tuesday, September 30, 2003) After years of foreign coaches coming to the U.S.; for the first time, an American coach will be developing players in a foreign country where soccer started over 100 years ago. George Sasvari, Director of Player Development for FC America Academy in Orlando and soccer entrepreneur in the United States, has reached an agreement to provide coaching leadership on player development for the Scottish Youth Football Association (SYFA) in Glasgow, Scotland. Scottish youth players and coaches will attend programs called the Coaching Development Series and Player Development Series offered by SYFA that will expose players to a unique methodology designed by Sasvari to change the way players are developed throughout the country. Scotland s current worldwide ranking of 54 has them falling off the world cup soccer map and serves as their primary motivation in revamping their youth development. The program will phase in over 4 years beginning in 2004 with the first year spent on planning and development and working primarily with the Western Region. The relationship with SYFA started when Sasvari was invited to Scotland this past July to present ideas on player development through clinics for coaches and players. During the visit Sasvari trained the Under 16 Boys National Squad. A surprise visit by Angus McConnell, President of SYFA, created even more excitement as he watched the training followed later by an executive committee meeting where he stated; We ve got to get that Sasvari here full-time". SYFA is also working with George Sasvari to develop a plan for implementing the unique coaching methods with both the youth national and regional squads. The Coaching and Player Development Series, designed by Sasvari, focus on putting players at the centerpiece of their development. Coaches learn how to enhance a player s creativity, imagination, and inventiveness. Players develop responsibility for their decisions by learning to read the game and find creative solutions to problems they face on the field. Coaches Clinics for ACYS draws lots of enthusiasm! 09/22/03 9:00 AM ORLANDO, FLORIDA (Monday, September 22, 2003) The Association of Christian Youth Sports kicked off their Fall 2003 program with coaches clinics for the entire association. George Sasvari provided curriculum resources and age group specific training sessions for coaches that will be working with the over 1400 players registered for the Fall Soccer Season. Children that participated also received prizes from Tony's Pizza, a Sasvari Way partner. Children ages 4 years old to 11 demonstrated techniques for exercises presented to coaches interested in learning about player development. Clinics were broken down by age groups as coaches attended to receive ideas to improve their training sessions. The ACYS is a non-profit Christian based organization that provides sports programs for youth. Coaches were from among local teams and private Christian schools. Over 100 coaches attended the clinics. Schwan's USA CUP Mega Hit - over 1000 players receive training! 08/18/03 2:00 PM BLAINE, MINNESOTA (Monday, August 11, 2003) The Schwan's USA CUP and Tony's USA WEEKEND CUP proved to be the best ever as more than 1000 players participated in clinics offered to players and coaches to learn the Sasvari Way curriculum. Topics such as Finishing, Creating Crossing Opportunities, Getting the Ball in the Space behind the Defense, and Group Defending were offered all week. As much as people observed each clinic with players participating and demonstrating activities for the crowd. The sessions were part of the Tony's Pizza Soccer Clinics, an official partner with Ultimate Touch International and the Sasvari Way, offered throughout both tournaments. Teams also took advantage of opportunities to sign up for private training sessions with Sasvari Way (TSW) staff members. Jaymison Bailey, staff coach for TSW, said, "Coaches were lining up in big numbers to get the private sessions but we just didn't have enough time on the schedule to take care of everyone." Many teams even wanted multiple sessions which we could not offer due to the high demand. "We filled every time slot and wanted to be fair to everyone so we limited teams to one session each." said Bailey. Teams came from all around the United States and the world to get the additional training. Canada, Scotland, Mexico were represented by teams that demonstrated during clinics or had private training. Players from the U.S. came from Minnesota, Wisconsin, Texas, Illinois, Ohio, New York, New Jersey, Michigan, Florida, Alaska, California, Kansas, among others receiving training the Sasvari Way as well. The clinics have become an expected and looked forward to event each summer as over 900 teams attend the two tournaments each year. The week also included a special Mega Clinic sponsored by Tony's Pizza and Cub Foods with over 400 players trained in an hour prior to the opening ceremonies! Great week of training leads to more success! 08/18/03 12:00 PM ORLANDO, FLORIDA (Monday, August 18, 2003) KNVB Staff Coach Jans Bos put on an outstanding display of coaching talent as he led training for both FC America Kumba Under 15 Girls and Lake Highland Prep Boys Soccer team. Almost 30 players from Lake Highland's boys soccer team spent 5 hours a day training under the Dutchman who is also responsible for preparing players for professional play back in his home in Holland. Each day started with Jans leading the boys of Lake Highland with early morning sessions that raised there awareness and challenged them to focus. "The team showed much better focus after the first day and showed they can work hard" said Bos. "I had to step on their toes but they did well once we had their attention." The evenings were spent with the Kumba girls, part of FC America Academy, the premier soccer club in Central Florida. Mr. Bos said that "This group is the best I have seen in the United States. They have passion for the game and are always working hard to challenge each other." The week of training proved to be very successful
in preparing the girls for the start of their season as they won their first two games 3-1 and 5-2 respectively against the top two of the best teams in Florida. Jans Bos leads Meagan Zusi, Anna Chase, and Anna Vargas through training activities for building possession.
Coach Bos gives directions to Nikki Stutz, Brittany Flesch, while Anna Chase ponders her next move. Successful Trip Abroad! 07/29/03 2:00 PM GLASGOW, SCOTLAND (Tuesday, July 29, 2003) The trip to Scotland was a rousing success as the Sasvari Way methodology was presented to coaches through the Scottish Youth Football Association (SYFA). A surprise visit by Angus McConnell, President of SYFA, created even more excitement as Sasvari trained the Under 16 Boys Youth National Squad. Based on the success of this trip, more will be forthcoming in a special announcement as details are being worked out to bring the Sasvari Way methodology into Scotland on a regular basis. Angus McConnell, President of the Scottish Youth Football Association, stated after meeting with the Executive Committee, "We've got to get that Sasvari here full-time". The SYFA is working with George Sasvari to develop a plan for implementing his unique coaching methods with both the youth national and regional squads. Scotland Under 16 National Squad pictured along side Mitchell Agnew - Manager SYFA Registrations & Development, John Hardy - Kit Manager, James Smith - Western Region Director, and George Sasvari During the trip George Sasvari not only trained coaches in the SYFA course but also worked with an under 13 local Paisley team as well as the Under 15 Boys Paisley United FC in preparation for their trip to the United States and the Schwan's USA CUP. Jim Smith, coach for Paisley United, said "We experienced the Sasvari Way in 2002
when we were over at the Schwan's USA Cup and took part in a Finishing Topic Course, that helped us through the season and we ended up winning the Scottish Amateur Youth league thanks for your help." This past July, Smith was again pleased with the results as the boys played up an age group and advanced to the semi-finals in Minnesota before losing to the Portsmouth FC professional youth team. "In 2003 we worked with George in Scotland for several sessions which were supplemented when we got to the USA Cup. We reached the semi Final of the A Bracket and we are only a Club side, another tremendous achievement.", said Smith. Paisley United advanced to the top four among 64 teams entered in their age group. John Hardy, President of Paisley United FC and longtime Kit Manager to the professional clubs in Scotland deemed the sessions "Brilliant! George gained the respect of all the Scottish coaches." From left to Right: John Hardy, Russell Smithwaite, Angus McConnell, George Sasvari, and James Smith For information on the Scottish Youth Football Association go the Scotland Awaits! 06/30/03 9:00 AM GLASGOW, SCOTLAND (Monday, June 30, 2003) The Scottish Youth Football Association has all plans in place for next weekend's special coaching event "Player Development Coaching Series" Saturday July 5th and Sunday July 6th. Coaches from throughout Glasgow and the western region of Scotland will be attending these sessions presented by George Sasvari. The Player Development Series outlines the growing coaching philosophy known as Sasvari Way that focuses on putting the player at the centerpiece of his development. Coaches will learn how to enhance a player's creativity, imagination, and inventiveness with and without the ball. Players develop responsibility for their decision by learning to read the game and find creative solutions to problems they face on the field. Watch local players use "awareness" of their every thought and move as they use what the game gives them to beat players 1 v 1, develop possession skills and understanding, influence the opposition to give up the ball, and work with teammates to regain possession. The National Under 13 squad and Paisley United FC Under 16 Boys will also be trained under the Sasvari Way methodology in order to expose players and coaches to this unique teaching style and curriculum. The sessions are being coordinated by James Smith, Head Coach of Paisley United FC Under 16 Boys. Each coach attending will receive a certificate. For information go the Twin Cities United 06/02/03 6:00 AM MAPLE GROVE, MINNESOTA (Monday, June 02, 2003) The Twin Cities United Racing team culminated it's year by defeating Bangu Under 16 Boys to win the Minnesota Youth Soccer Association State Championship. TCU
Racing led at halftime 2-1 yet was deadlocked 2-2 with 8 minutes remaining before scoring the go ahead goal when the team worked together defensively to close out the game and win 3-2. Notable performances came from Jon Mader who scored 2 goals in the championship game. The first goal came from a perfect pass from Patrick Graham who found Jon on a one on-one and put it through the GK legs. Jerry Yonga, Head Coach, is now ready to prepare the team for the Snickers Region II Championship. "After an intensive weekend with G. Sasvari, the training paid off." Yonga said. "Defensively, we also were able to play as a team and bring home the championship." "UTI has been working with Jon particularly to use his speed and create finishing opportunities. The second goal was the concept of framing the goals that we have been working on with UTI since our training session in Tampa," said Yonga. "The hard shot from Colin Baker bounced off the GK and Jon understanding the concept of framing the goal was there to put it in. The final goal was also another concept we taught the players over the weekend which is restarts and bringing in the additional defender." Ultimate Touch International is proud of the team's accomplishment and wishes them well as they prepare for the Region II Midwest Finals. The boys are off to Des Moines, IA for the June tournament where they will face teams from Kentucky, Kansas, and the winner of the Midwest National League. Twin Cities United 05/07/03 2:00 PM MAPLE GROVE, MINNESOTA (Wednesday, May 07, 2003) Ultimate Touch International is proud to announce it s continued relationship with Twin Cities United Racing under 16 Boys team. The team training program started in the summer of 2002 and into the Tampa Sun Bowl last December; will continue with special state cup preparations May 23-26, Twin Cities United, ranked as the top team in it s age group in Minnesota, will be trained on a full schedule beginning with a Friday evening classroom session and continuing through the weekend with over 15 hours of specialized training. The full schedule will also include games and the popular Destiny to Success goal setting program conducted in classroom settings. Jerry Yonga, coach for Twin Cities United Racing, first experienced the Sasvari Way methodology during the 2002 Schwan s USA CUP, when his team demonstrated for one of the many clinics offered during the tournament. John Bob Oyugi, Kenyan National Teams Technical Director, FIFA Instructor and member of the Sasvari Way staff, conducted the session and the team went on to take 3rd place in the 64-team field. The Racing players were also trained by George Sasvari in August and volunteered as peer helpers for the Tony s Pizza Soccer Festival in Maple Grove, MN. Special Guest Coach from Holland to Appear! 5/6/03 2:00 PM GRONINGEN, HOLLAND (Tuesday, May 6, 2003) KNVB National Staff coach Jans Bos will direct a training center for Ultimate Touch International from August 4-8, The program is part of the summer schedule for Sasvari Way Training for the Serious Player and will take place at Lake Highland Prep in downtown Orlando, FL from 8:00am - 1:00pm each day during the week. While in Orlando, Mr. Bos will also conduct a coach s seminar on player development for FC America Omni and Kumba coaches at a location yet to be decided. The program is part of FC America s commitment to coaching education and modern player development. Invitation from Scotland 5/4/03 2:00 PM GLASGOW, SCOTLAND (Sunday, May 4, 2003) An invitation, initiated by Paisley United FC from Glasgow, Scotland, is bringing George Sasvari as a special guest coach to the country. The invitation includes training sessions with Paisley United FC as well as special topic sessions for coaches from the F.A. and youth programs. The National Under 13 squad will also be trained under the SasvariWay methodology in order to expose players and coaches to this unique teaching style and curriculum. The sessions are being coordinated by James Smith, Head Coach of Paisley United FC Under 15 Boys. His team, which includes 5 players on the national squad, were first exposed to the methodology through an NSCAA Special Topics Course taught by George Sasvari in Blaine, Minnesota. While learning the NSCAA curriculum, the team also set-up training by Sasvari and developed a liking for the style of functional training that places the player at the center of it's decision-making and develops their ability to read the game.
