Dahil light lang ang discussion and feel mo talagang GE ang klase mo at hindi feeling major! Madali lang din ang exams...exam. Isa lang :P May reporting at isang major project lang na fun naman pagtrabahuan. May dalawang one-pager essays lang na pinass nung last day of classes. May dalawang exams na madali naman (at least para sa akin) at saka team paper (serves as finals) kung saan pipili ka ng topic at mag-iinterview ng at least tatlong tao na related sa topic na pinili mo. Kung 'di mo masyadong keri yung nakalagay sa readings ay pwedeng sumagot ng Filipino sa exams. Nag-che-check ng attendance. Mabait naman siya, at may matututunan ka naman sa kanya kapag magbasa ka ng readings niyo at makinig sa lecture. Although kailangan niyo talaga magbasa ng readings niyo dahil kukunin niya doon 'yung mga tanong sa exam, 'yung tipong sino 'yung taong nagsulat/nagsabi ng article/quote na 'to. minsan may fill-in-the-blanks pa siya, verbatim from the readings. Matino naman siya, kapag madalas ka mag-recite, marami ka talagang plus points! May assigned na readings tapos mag-iisip each group ng question then dun na manggagaling yung flow ng discussion. Yung quiz nga pala from 1-10 lang naman at tungkol sa reading na diniscuss and laging binibigay before mag start ang class. Yun lang! Pero masisigurado ko na MARAMI kayong matutunan at maiintindihan Historical ang approch nya sa mga lessons at gamay-na gamay nya ang subject. Haggard lang talaga sa dami ng activities tulad ng mga debate, Ethnolinguistic mapping, Ambagan, papers at iba pa. Pero worth ng time yung bonding with your classmates and other sections na nabuo through these activities at syempre dahil sa memorable na Suro-suroy sa Bohol. Bonus nalang siguro ang natanggap kong 1.00 after that AP 12 experience.

Medyo lighter compared sa ibang Aral Pil 12 classes. May readings din, be sure lang na binabasa ang mga ito pag papasok sa klase. Mag-ready rin sa exams at ilang papers, saka mag-effort ng matindi sa Suroy-Suroy. Wag ma-late sa mga requirements. Grade: 1.25! Haha. Rating: 9.5/10. Ang cool nga kasi yung mga pictures niya ng famous landmarks around the world sa mga slides niya (Pyramids of Giza, Troy, Angkor *** etc) eh siya mismo ang kumuha. Super! German siya. Sa class, madalas siya magkwento ng experiences niya. May film showing din and reaction paper for every episode. 4 research paper sa napili mong archaeological site, final exam. Matalino si Sir. Pero alam ko ndi siya magtuturo ngayong 1st sem kasi pupunta sya sa Australia para sa PhD nya. Bata pa si sir mga nasa palang sya. Madami ka talagang matutunan sa kanya at isa pa ang bait din nya. Rating: 9.5/10 Subject: Archaeo 2 Year taken: 2009 Schedule: bleeeep Prof. Name: Sir Michael Armand Canilao Description: Malakas daw appeal sa girls, mga guys naman, walang interes makinig sa kanya. Sa klase ko sa kanya last sem, LAHAT ay tila bagsak na dada pa rin cia ng dada. Yung iba pa-effect na lang na nagrerecite. Saka ang turing niya samin ay tila nabasa namin (at naintindihan, pero well, responsibility nga as a student ang intindihin right? haha) lahat ng readings kaya para ciang blitzkrieg na walang preno sa pagdadadadaa in his most boring TONE ever. Grabe. Ang MONOTONE. Waah. I just wanted to kill myself right away. Grabe kasi sa boring ang bawat araw. Parang wala kang matututunan dahil sobrang hindi ka mamomotivaste at mag-aanticipate ng something new sa klase niya. Highly unrecommended ito. Hindi rin bet ang fieldtrips niya (coming from an ex-classmate). Wala ciang finals (at *** lang ata ang maganda sa subj nia exept napakababa niang magbigay ng grades sa REFLECTION papers). Muntik na nga kong magkatres sa kanya (pero, partially, kasalanan ko rin dahil sa recitation na yan at hindi pagsama sa fieldtrip at 2 quizzes na namiss). Kahit yung klasmeyt ko dito eh hindi pinatawad. Mukhang easy-to-get-along pero di mo alam under the radar...haha, wala sa kanya ang mga pasipsip at mga pakiusap na mga absences due to illnesses. In short: Hindi siya bet. Tips: Read your readings in advance (mga 3 weeks before the discussion, tsk tsk). Sa Recitation, siguraduhing logical ang mga tanong at sagot. Relate other things from other subj. you've learned with his subj. Rating: 1/10 (dapat nga 0.5 eh, pinagbigyan ko na lang for eye candy hahaha, sorry, di ko sya type) Subject: Archaeology 2 Year taken: st sem Schedule: WF Prof. Name: Alfred Pawlik / Vito Hernandez Description: One of the best classes I ve ever taken maybe because I m really interested in the subject. First two to three days, Sir Pawlik (german siya, so medyo weird accent) showed us a ppt of archaeological sites and we identify them if we can. Some are obvious if you always watch Discovery or Nat Geo or read history/travel books but some are also unfamiliar. And almost all those photos are his photos! Wow. He was replaced before midsem by Sir Vito since he had to do archaeological work abroad. Sir Vito was much less sleepinducing than Sir Pawlik and of course much more demanding on requirements. But the deadlines are still negotiable. I learned so much on the reality of archaeology and it s not as glamorous as most see it to be. Must take. You ll learn a lot! Rating: 100/10 Subject: Arkiyoloji 1 Schedule: TTh 10-11:30 AM Prof Name: Victor Paz Description: Matututo ka talaga kay Sir Paz. Malalaman mo kung paano nabuo ang kamalayang Pinoy, ang kasaysayan ng arkiyoloji sa mundo at sa Pilipinas, at ang ilan sa mga misconception regarding sa arkiyoloji natin (ex. Neyolitik period, Ma-i, land bridges theory). Walang exams, pero may dalawang on-the-spot academic essays based sa isang icon at

5 final essay kung saan ikaw ang pipili ng icon na i-eexamine. May maiikling quizzes din (about geography) sa first part ng sem (na bonus points) at group report tungkol sa isang reading na assigned sa inyo. Hindi nag-che-check ng attendance, pero pag natawag kayo para mag-recite at wala kayo, marked kayo as absent. Subject: Arkiyoloji 1 Year taken: 2010 Prof. Name: Victor Paz Description: Class is fun. though boring ang lectures, he can put in some humor to it. Also, kung GC ka, super-recommendable ito... All you have to do, gawin lahat ng incentive essays nya. Tapos, wala yata kaming exam noon, surprise quizzes lang na laughtrip pa. medyo dapat lang alam mo kung pano magsulat na academic essays.. also nagpapareport sya ng 5 minutes lang ang time. I got 1.25 kahit abnormal ang quizzes ko... haha! sobra! Subject: Arkiyoloji 1 Year taken: 2010 Schedule: TTh, 10-11:30 Prof. Name: Sir Victor Paz Description: Arkiyoloji 1 under Sir Paz was really in demand this pre-enlistment sa 2nd sem. Bakit? Not only is Arkiyo 1 considered as an SSP, pero it's a Phil Stud na din! Sir Paz is undoubtedly one of the best profs in his department, hindi siya strict, pero the class knows na kahit may joke time minsan, may respeto pa din. Maganda din ang kanyang teaching style, yung "iconcentric approach". Mapipilitan ka talagang mag-isip dito, and while hindi siya sure-uno na subject, yung mga matututunan mo sa Arkiyo1 is well worth the trouble. Subject: Arkiyoloji 1 (Kasaysayan at Arkiyoloji ng Pilipinas) *SSP & PH* Year Taken: 1st Sem, A.Y Prof Name: Prof. Victor Paz Description: Ang gusto ko kay sir ay nilalabas niya yung discussion sa realm ng Philippine archaeology at history. Nagdidiscuss siya ng mga world and Philippine social issues and nagbibigay ng views niya tungkol doon and what's amazing is nacoconnect niya iyon sa current lesson sa class na talagang maiintindihan mo siya. Nagiging approachable yung information at hindi intimidating at full of jargon na parang ayaw mo na makinig. He discusses terms such as history, pre-history, neolithic, etc in his point of view lagi kasi it's problematic for him daw which is what we emulate (dapat sceptical tayo, nuks). His requirements consist of class participation, 2 or 3 on the spot essays, final paper, final report, easy-peasy 5-question bonus quizzes, "optional" (pahatak ng grade) na reaction paper, and class presence (kahit matulog ka daw, or sarcasm ata iyon). Basta he always says na "just show your ugly faces" daw then it's all good. There's many things to say pero I'll just let you learn them from sir kaya ENLIST NA! Maraming demand eh. Malaki ang requirements niya, pero enjoyable siya. And malaki ang chance na mga varsity kaklase mo. She also wants us to be resourceful and to be as creative as possible. A great prof, and a great class. Madami siyang readings so super comprehensive talaga ang matututunan mo, from ancient Egyptian art to Philippine Muslim art. However, madugo magpatest si Sir. Halos every meeting pa (minsan 100+ items)! I remember 3 hours ko tinake ang long exam niya. Pero, generous naman si Sir sa grades. I got an uno. Effort lang talaga. 7 Prof Name: Ms. Eileen Legaspi ramirez Description: nice ang voice ni maam. nice ang readings niya dahil makakapiga ka ng mga esoteric meanings from 'art around us.' may readings din siya galing kay John Fiske na ilang oras kong binasa dahil very verbose ito pero after basahin ay ulitin para madali na lang. nice din ang readings niya about sa TV. ang coverage niya ay under areas/modules: PH festivals, discourses on meaning-making, capitalism, TV, virtual reality, fashion, food, at architecture/public spaces. may papers, blog, group reports, final project (installation art proposal) at walang exam. pero very minimal ang discussion. I think maam has 'it' pero tuwing nagdidiscuss siya ay nabibitin ako dahil marami siyang pasakalye at parang hindi talaga naaabot ang crux ng topic. tsaka may ilang meetings na absent siya so hindi natapos ang syllabus. Saka ang dami niyang alam tungkol sa mga artworks at mga artists, pati yung mga never-seen-before type na mga artworks. Bagay sa class na to ang mga opinionated na tao, saka yung magaling mag-interpret. Boring nga sigurong i-discuss ang art pero para sakin interesting siya. Okay ang klase, talagang mapapataas ang kamay mo para mag-recite. Once in a blue moon lang ako mag-recite pero sa klase na to para akong na-magic, wala lang parang gusto ko lang mag-recite. May mga individual at group papers, 2 long exam saka yung group reporting sa end ng sem na gagawan niyo rin ng paper (samin sa grade sa reporting pag nagpasa ng paper). 10% din pala ng grade ang attendance so importanteng lagi kang pumapasok at hindi late. Yung 2nd long pala puwedeng i-cancel kung matataas yung scores sa 1st long exam, or puwede ring optional para dun sa medyo mababa yung mga grades at gusto magpataas ng standing. Art around us ang focus ng klase pero hindi mo kailangang maging magaling sa art. Basta naa-appreciate mo nang malalim ang art, okay na. Pero one time pinagawa niya kami ng portrait ng katabi mo, pero parang bonus lang daw yun. Required din pala bumisita sa National Museum. Mataas magbigay ng grade. May field trip pa sa ILOCOS. Requirements: midterm, reflection paper, creative artwork, group paper/report. OK naman tong class na to. Art appreciation (everyday art) basically, interpreting all forms of artwork. Nahirapan ako sa midterm pero nung nakuha ko bluebook ko, woooo! 52/60 --> hahaha. puro essay kasi, at mataas magbigay ng points si Ma'am.

Grade: 1.00 Subject: Art Studies 2 Year taken: 1st sem Schedule: umaga Prof's Name: Robin Daniel Rivera Description: Itong si sir mabait at maraming alam. Note: explicitly niyang sinabi na magkasunod ang topics ng art stud 1 and art stud 2, kaya kung kukuha kayo ng art studrelated na GE, art stud 1 na lang kunin niyo. Research class yung section namin kaya wala kaming readings and exams, instead, puro field work lang. Dalawang class presentations plus reflection papers ang ginawa namin the whole sem. Super light ng class na ito. Ang downside lang na nakita ko e di namin pinagaralan yung mga art theories nang in-depth(unlike other art stud 2 classes na yun ang focus) dahil nga research-oriented yung class namin. Fair mag-grade at oo nga pala, mataas ang weight ng attendance sa kanya. Di ako masaya sa class na to kasi nasa art stud 1 pala yung gusto kong matutunan. However, he did made me appreciate art more (trip to museums, and the Manila tour). Hindi hinapit sa theories, more on practical exercises. Maraming activities outside the classroom. Sabagay, "Art Around Us" nga naman, hehe. Hindi boring. Pero may tendency na magmukhang too demanding ang course, considering na GE "lang" naman yan... Yung prof, okay lang din. Alam naman niya yung ginagawa niya. Pero Doctor na kasi kaya mataas ang standards. Medyo mahirap magpa-exam... May pagkaactivist din. Kung masasakyan mo siya, ayos... Basta um-attend lagi ng klase (on time), magpakita ng interes sa art (kahit wala naman ), mag-recite, wag late sa mga requirements, at magsipag sa medyo marami-raming gawain. Isa ang klase niya sa mga masasabi kong 'enlightening' or 'eye-opening'. Napaka intellectual kasi ng approach ni Mam. Namangha na lang ako kasi may ganun palang scholarly approaches sa mag discuss and sa pag explore ng Art. I mean, waw. Pero. Konti lang ang class interaction. Siguro kasi ang tamad namin magbasa ng readings niya, lagi kasi siya may readings na mahahaba eh. Kasalanan din siguro namen. Pero hindi rin kasi siya nagsosolicit masyado ng insights namen, discuss nang

9 discuss. Pero grabe, I looked at Art in a more scholarly way dahil sa kanya. Although lagi akong inaantok sa class nya, first class ko kasi at nale-late pa ako sa lagay na yan. At kapag nakaksalubong ko si Mam, nagchichit-chat pa kami. Ang cool niya talaga, medyo feeling close pa ako sa kanya. Haha. Kunin niyo siya, nice experience. Labyu mam. Hahaha. I was really anxious to find out whom our concealed Bio prof was on the first day because I heard of a certain Bio 1 prof who's a bit of a terror. When her name came up on her Powerpoint, I thought I was doomed to fail Bio 1. But now that I've spent an entire semester with her, I think it's unfair that people brand her as a terror. Her requirements are completely doable. She does NOT give quizzes everyday, but her long quizzes an long exams are quite hard, but they are passable if you study hard enough. Her lectures tend to be on the boring, sleep-inducing side, but a times she cracks jokes to keep her students awake. With all that said, Bio 1 is HARD. Kinuwento rin nya na related sa isang beauty queen ang asawa nya na ewan namin kung totoo. Paulit-ulit ang lecture, half a sem ata naming nakita ng paulit-ulit ang geologic time record. Exams, mahirap, super. May essay part na kailangang mailagay mo yung word na hinahanap nya or else, zero ka ako sa kanya. Pag Biology siyempre ang daming terms na aalalahanin kaya kadalasan boring ang atmosphere sa klase.

Grade: 1.50 Rating: 7.5/10 Subject: Bio 1 Year Taken: 1st Sem, A.Y Prof Name: Dr. Ernelea Cao Description: napakagaling mag-explain. pero she oversimplifies the course na parang 'naglalaro' na lang kayo, to quote from her. maraming holes sa isang major topic dahil ang basic concepts lang ang tinatalakay niya, so the whole picture is incomplete. pero ok na rin naman. on the other side of it, she makes esoteric concepts accessible to the students. very simplistic talaga ang course; nanghihinayang ako kasi very interesting pa naman ito dahil contemporary topics in biology dapat kaso minsan ang mga dinidiscuss niya ay common knowledge na. medyo tricky lang ang part ng genetics dahil may solving. no need to consult from books, ang kailangan lang ay mabilis kang kumopya ng slides. may bonus points kapag perfect attendance. may surprise quizzes din pero tatlo o apat lang ata ang napagdaanan kong ganoon. may papers at assignments na dapat pagbutihin mo dahil part na rin ito ng exam. multiple choice, essay, at application ng topic ang style ng exams. paulit-ulit niya palang ineemphasize ang pagiging GE ng course at ginagawa niya itong justification para hindi masyadong pahirapan ang course. minsan hindi rin maganda na masyado nang basic ang isang GE course. Mahirap pero magbigay ng exam Augustus Mamaril - Si Sir Mamaril ang nagturo ng second part ng Bio12, yung protozoan and animal diversity and animal developmental biology. Medyo lewd ang jokes ni Sir Mamaril pero cool naman. Ang funny nya minsan, parang stereotypical grandfather figure, na minsan nakakalimutan mo professor of high distinction pala. Stricto sya sa attendance at sa tardiness. Minsan nagcacall-out sya ng mga tao pag late sila, or pag natripan ka nya. Mahilig sya magparecite, pero madali lang naman mga tinatanong nya. Ang fun ng topics din nya kasi, lalo na yung sexual reproduction part (err, medyo nagtagal kami doon ) Ian Kendrich Fontanilla - Si Dr. Fontanilla naman nagdiscuss ng last part ng Bio12, which encompasses genetics, ecology, and evolutionary theory. However, I'd advise future students to attend every meeting even though the subject can get pretty boring as the exams are pretty difficult to ace. Because of this subject, I had a greater appreciation for chemistry, more than I had before actually. The best thing is that I really find myself applying some (few) of the lessons learned from the course. Nakakatamad pumasok sa class ni Ma'am talaga. Ewan ko kung dahil ba sa topics na nakakatamad aralin or dahil sa ang hina ng boses nya ZZZZ. Grabe pero magalit pag walang nakikinig. Naeexplain naman nya ng maayos yung mga topics, with matching examples kung minsan :)) At tulad nga dun sa nabasa ko, magaling nga siya magenglish at malakas yung boses nya. Masipag din yan pumasok, tapos aabsent lang sya kung 'di pa sya tapos mag-check nung LE (Long Exam). Tapos yung results ng LE nyo lalabas agad within the week, kahit na marami kayo sa class (mga 80+), usually kinabukasan agad or sa susunod na araw. Approachable din, and may sense of humor :P And sa tingin ko, gagawin nya ang lahat para pumasa ka :)) Mahilig kasi sya magbigay ng partial points. Lastly, eto ang mga warning, mahirap ang mga DG's niya ("Discussion Group" - test yan na sasagutan nyo sa lab pero by group) at lagi syang may quiz sa dulo. Pang-attendance kasi yung quiz pero open notes naman e. Onga pala, kahit na may hand-outs na binibigay si sir (unless yung hand-outs na meron ka ay yung ididiscuss pa lang nya), kelangan nyo pa rin magnotes. Kasi sabi ko nga, may quiz sa dulo, so kawawa ka kung wala kang notes :)) Yun lang Colleen Marciel Rosales - Wahaha!
