Event Title: Dick's Sporting Goods Tournament of Champions Boys National Club Lacrosse Finals 2. Event Date: Dec 31,2010 to January 2, Brief description of event (format, qualifying criteria, ages, etc.): The Dick's Sporting Goods Tournament of Champions is the high school club lacrosse national championship for boys' club teams. This tournament is also one of the premier recruiting events in the nation as top college coaches/scouts will be in attendance. The top teams/programs from across the country have been selected at 26 national qualifying tournaments for the Boys Elite level. The top finisher(s) at each qualifying tournament will receive bids to compete in the Dick's Sporting Goods Tournament of Champions. In 2010, there's an open registration divisions for Boys Rising Stars, U15 and the new U13 divisions. Rising Stars is a Junior Varsity division and is designed for teams that are made up of predominantly high school freshmen and sophomores. Many of the U 13 & U15 teams are made up of the younger kids that are not quite ready to compete against the varsity/elite older kids. 4. Sport(s) involved: Lacrosse 5. Event History (most recent, regardless of location) PLEASE LIST YEAR OF EVENT: Wesley Chapel District Park, Pasco County, FL- Jan. 5-6,2008: The 2"d Annual Tournament of Champions produced another 1, elite winner from Canada as the Salmonbellies of New Westminster defeated Team Headstrong (Philadelphia, PA) 7-5 to keep the coveted University Cup in Canada. The thrill of victory, and agony of defeat, was evident throughout the twoday event that included 21 Elite Division teams from 12 states and two Canadian provinces. Four clubs made up the Rising Stars division including the underdog Tampa Tribe. The Tribe made it to the finals before losing to Team Illinois West. Wesley Chapel District Park, Pasco County, FL- Jan. 24,2009: The 3rd Annual Tournament of Champions produced back-to-back elite winner from Canada as the Salmonbellies of New Westminster defeated Maryland Lacrosse Club (MLC) 8-7. New Westminster took its first lead of the game, 7-6,84 seconds later when senior Kevin Schoemaker got in the box score on a feed from Lachlan. But MLC was unfazed. At 19:20, English's third goal tied the score at seven, the fourth tie of the game. With 1:02 remaining on the clock, New Westminster head coach Jarret Bradley called a timeout. As the defending champs held for a last shot, Goodwin knew he needed to take control. With nine seconds remaining in regulation, the senior beat MLC senior goalie Conor McGee with a blast from outside for what was the game-winner. With the victory, the Salmonbellies became the first team to repeat as national champions, and the first to win back-to-back titles. The Kanienkehaka Krunch saved their best for last in the Rising Starts Division. A 19-4 victory by the Krunch over the Georgia Copperheads put an exclamation point on the Krunch's impressive run through the bracket. The Krunch are expected to return and compete in the Elite Division. Wesley Chapel District Park, Pasco County, FL- Jan. 1-3,2010: Fifty-three teams from the United States and Canada began their quests for a championship in the 4th Annual Tournament of Champions in the tourney's three age categories - Under 15, High School Rising Stars and High School Elite. Ten of Wesley Chapel District Park's fields have played host to the three-day tournament, which wrapped up today by crowning three national champions. Once again it was US-Canada elite division national championship game. This year, it was Edge Senior Elite (ONT) taking on Team Warrior (NC) with Edge coming from down 9-6 to tie it and win in overtime. Fans flocked to the stadium field, anxious to see the magic of the Team Warrior star tandem- the Thompson brothers. Early on, midfielder Lyle Thompson did not disappoint. In a game that included four lead changes and six ties, Edge ensured that the University Cup trophy will remain north of the border, at least for another year. "Hats off to the players and coaches of Team Warrior and Edge Senior Elite," said Brian Tatum, NDP Lacrosse's Director of Operations. "They left the crowd in awe, and played the greatest championship game this tournament has ever seen." Florida Sports Foundation

4 when the last two qualifier tournaments of 26 nationwide are played in Brooklandville, MD and Wesley Chapel, Florida's Derek Pieper Memorial Cup. Competition Details: National High School Club Championship- the only one of its kind Elite Division is invitation only from more than 26 nationwide qualifying events Rising Stars Division is open from teams in qualifying events U15 Division is open invitation for non junior and senior competitors. Newly created U13 Division is open invitation for non junior and senior competitors. Five (5) Game minimum per team guarantee Individual awards for all players on teams finishing 1' through 3rd Special Events: National Final Skill Contests (from qualifying events) The Dick's Sporting Goods Multi-Sport Challenge is a national contest that epitomizes the company's slogan that 'Every Season Starts at Dick's.' In this competition, players attempt to throw balls (and a Frisbee) through holes in a Dick's Sporting Goods target. The five throws include a football pass, a soccer throw-in, a basketball chest-pass, a Frisbee toss, and a lacrosse shot. The top three nationwide finishers* will win a trip for two (includes a parentlguardian for each competitor) to Florida in January to compete for the Dick's Sporting Goods Multi-Sport Challenge national title. The trip includes roundtrip airfare for two and a hotel stay at Saddlebrook Resort. 16. Summarize the marketing plan for the event to include all media(s), timeline and if you are paying a promotional or production expense to obtain event coverage. >~lite Division: bids are being extended to top finishers at 26 qualifying events across the USA. >NDP Staff engaged in call follow-ups with qualifiers. At this time as many as 75 Teams have the potential to enter the tournaments, which continues the tournaments growth for the 5th year in a row. >NDP purchased full page ad in Inside Lacrosse magazine to promote the event. >web presence: banners and announcements on ndplacrosse.com, insidelacrosse.com and all qualifying event partner websites including visitpasco.net. >Materials visible and distributed at each qualifying event. >Planned radio/tv blitz in Pasco County area to take place as early as November. Ill. EVENT MARKET ASSISTANCE REQUEST 1. Amount of Grant Requested: $15, Have you received FSF grant funds for this event in the past? $4,000 paid in February 2008 and February 2009 and $5,000 in Florida Sports Foundation 4

5 3. Intended use of grant funds, if awarded: Reimburse site, rights and/or host fees. Plus, potential marketing fees pending sponsor/ agreements being reached with media TV partners. 4. How will this grant impact the success of the event? This event has become the trademark event sponsored by the Pasco County Sports Commission. According to County officials no tournament of this magnitude and potential has ever been hosted by the County at one of its parks. In only its fifth year and fourth consecutive year in the area the tournament has increased registered participation, added a day of competition, new division for competition and has expanded to a secondary venue 1.5 miles away at Wesley Chapel High School. Many local merchants have addressed the Board of County Commissioners and stated "second to the Super Bowl" this is the largest economic impact event we have in Pasco County. The sport of lacrosse received National Television coverage of college championships and Professional League play that dominates the country in the Northeast. A FSF Event Market Assistance Funding will allow marketing efforts to reach beyond the Tampa Bay market and Florida as the sport of lacrosse looks to expand its fan base and growth in the Southeast US. For example, when it comes to Football the state of Florida is looked upon as the top or top three areas to recruit talent. The sport of lacrosse is a "northern sport" and funding this event, promoting the growth of the sport in the Florida market will create opportunities and other areas for the state's youth to excel in life through sports. The tournament has already produced a qualifying tournament at the same location in November: Derek Pieper Memorial Cup. That tournament has grown exponentially and its impact is catching up to this tournament as teams race to Florida to qualify for the January event. Furthermore, this tournament will put Florida in better standing in the lacrosse community. As seen with Texas, Ohio, Colorado and California, it has taken a long time to get the College coaches to notice the players from Florida. The ability to show that the state is growing, thriving and supporting the lacrosse community will allow more kids to be seen, more coaches to consider Florida players, and hopefully push the development of programs not only in Pasco County but the whole state. Florida ranks fourth in total population and yet they only have 130 FHSAA approved schools of more than 500 plus compared to the competition and other sports in our state. Research shows that lacrosse along with baseball, basketball and football are sports where student-athletes can receive a higher education. 5. What benefits associated with this event will the Florida Sports Foundation receive if a grant is awarded? (Please attach appropriate sponsor benefit list if applicable) FSF will receive full brand exposure. Not just a poster or logo signage but a representation from the County's Sports Commission of commitment and an experience for the visitors and athletes that compete in the tournament. This is a tournament and relationship that could entertain NDP and the Tournament of Champions for years to come and that would feature the relationship of the FSF with the sport of Lacrosse. 6. Will the event be televised? (If yes, list network, date, time, and commercial opportunity for the FSF): A promotional video featuring highlights and players is currently circulating on Pasco Government W and with NDP Lacrosse. Both organizations are working with Regional W Partners to produce a tape-delayed broadcast of the Elite Final and highlights from the other contests. Florida Sports Foundation 5

6 7. How will this event contribute to a positive image for the state of Florida? It brings teams in from North America to enjoy the January weather (although 2010 was in the 30-40's) and three provinces from Canada. It also makes Florida a recruiting destination for college coaches who ordinarily would not come into the state. Reports from NDP Lacrosse and Team Managers state teams are excited to get out of the cold and snow of the northeast and upper Midwest during January. They are viewing this as a vacation and are ecstatic about going to Florida. Florida is providing to the rest of the country a chance to play outside during the winter. And the reason is: sport is a vital part of the tourism industry. From a lacrosse standpoint, the state of Florida is already seen in a positive light from teams who are excited to finally have a true national club championship. NDP, Florida and Pasco County are being viewed as pioneers in the sport. IV. COMMUNITY SUPPORT 1. Please list any city, county, TDC, or other cash contributions from public entities for this event (include amount and source): In the past Pasco County received support from the Wesley Chapel Athletic Association (WCAA). This year the County has paid the full $22,500 right's fees. The WCAA still provides its support with officials, field preparedness, volunteers and marketing. 2. Please outline any in-kind (donated facilities, volunteer/staff support, city/county services, etc.) support from the community that has been committed for this event: WCAA has a strong lacrosse base and will man concessions, clean up and management event alongside and with NDP. The County's Parks and Recreation has staff dedicated to each County Park and has been meeting regularly ( / conf call/ in-person) to prepare for the tournament in January with the liaison to the Sports Commission and the client. 3. Please outline any local corporate sponsorship support that has been secured for this event: World renowned Saddlebrook Resort located three miles from the front gate of the playing site is the host hotel and a number of other properties have become partners for the tournament. We also started negotiating with the Shops at Wiregrass Mall, Cobb Theater and a new attraction that features Bistro Dining. V. ECONOMIC IMPACT/PARTICPATION PROJECTIONS 1.
