Please subscribe at or call AHJS PTO events, past copies of Monday Mails and more can be found online at AHJS News 6 th and 7 th Grade Parents: AHJS will have its 6 th to 7 th / 7 th to 8 th Grade Parent Elective Night on Monday, 30 January, from 6pm- 7pm in the auditorium. If you have any questions, please contact the AHJS Guidance Office at Lunch Drop- off Update: During this month s campus site- based meeting AHJS shared with the committee that the school has seen a decrease on the number of lunches that are dropped off. AHJS thanks you for your support. As I have stated before, parents are still encouraged and welcome to come to school and have lunch with their student. This is a time- honored tradition in AHISD, and it is very positive for our children. ~Mrs. Ancira, Principal UIL Mule Madness: We had our UIL Mule Madness yesterday at the JS and we hosted 11 schools. Overall, our students did great: 6 th grade won 3 rd place sweepstakes, 7 th grade won 2 nd place sweepstakes, and 8 th grade won 1 st place sweepstakes. Congratulations to all the students. Thank you to all parents and teachers that helped out during this event. AHJS Spanish Spelling Bee Winner: Abby Jones, an AHJS 8th grade student, will be going to the Region 20 Spanish Spelling Bee Saturday, 4 February Athletic News: Our girls soccer team did very well yesterday. They played against Corbett and Dobie. They won one game and tied the 2 nd game. The students played great! ~Coach Boyer Study Hall: Homework help is available for AHJS students every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 4:00-5:00pm in the AHJS library. There are two to three teachers available to help AHJS students with their homework. Morning AHJS Library Hours: Students will be allowed to come into the library as early as 7:30am Monday through Friday. This is a great opportunity for students to complete work and/or read a book. Supervision will be provided. PTO News Attention Families of Seventh Graders: The 7 th grade teacher appreciation event is Friday, 10 February. Families of 7 th graders are invited to bring cookies to AHJS office for Cookie Day! Please use the sign up genius link at They are requesting a total of 25 dozen cookies, to be sent to the AHJS office to be available for the Faculty & Staff lunches starting Friday, 10 February, at 11:30am. This is a fun opportunity to show your appreciation for their dedication to our kids and the community. Please feel free to add a note of thanks with your cookies. Save the Date!! The AHJS Springfest will be held 7 April 2017 from 4:00pm to 6:00pm! Please consider sponsoring Springfest by making a donation and got to See the parent letter at the end of Monday Mail for more information. Donors who give $250 and above will receive a Springfest yard sign! Springfest is the largest PTO fundraiser and is an afternoon of fun, games and activities for students, families, faculty and members of the community. All proceeds from Springfest will allow AHJS PTO to supplement and enhance the school s curriculum enrichment, education, social, emotional and wellness needs. Thank you for your support! HEB Cards! Every $100 card = $5 for AHJS! It s SO EASY to support your school...the cards are delivered to your home!
