Jan Casey, Jo Beard, Chris Stevenson. Thursday 4 June. Small School Assembly at School. At 2.15pm. Friday 5 June. X-Country at Bainesse School. The whole school will be involved. Monday 8 June. Louise Baynes begins (permanent Principal). Friday 3 July. End Term 2. Monday 20 July. Start Term 3. Whole School Trip to Bainesse this Friday (5th June) for Cross Country The whole school will be heading to Bainesse School this Friday for the Cluster Cross Country. All children will be involved (Junior and Senior). As with last week, if you can provide transport for this, please contact us one way or another by tomorrow (Wednesday), to let us know how many children you can take, and to confirm you can take the kids in and bring them back. Even if you mentioned this on the permission slip, if you can provide transport, please let us know (text/phone/ /in-person). If you can provide transport, we will be departing school at 9.30am, so if you can be here by then please. If you are NOT providing transport, please ensure your child s booster seat (if your child is required to sit in one), is dropped off by 9am on Friday. Those parents dropping off the seats, will also need to pick them up at hometime if your child is not being dropped off at home on the way back. The event is due to finish at Bainesse School around the 2pm mark, so it is an all day event. The children will need their play lunch, lunch and a drink, although there will be sausages, hot chips, lollies and drinks for sale if your child wishes to purchase these. They will also need suitable running gear, warm clothing, and their puffers if they use them. The children will be required to wear their uniforms for this event, although they can wear their own shorts. If the event is postponed due to bad weather, we will simply let you know as soon as possible. Kids Talk There are two editions of Kids Talk attached to this newsletter. The first is from Week 6 (which I forgot to attach to last weeks school newsletter). The second one is the Week 7 edition written at the end of last week. The Week 6 edition was written by Jordan and Meadow, and this weeks edition (Week 7), was written by Charlotte and Jayde, with a little help from Ashanti (as we were simply running out of time with the kids away on Friday). Well done to you all for some great writing. Interschool Year 7/8 Cross Country Today (Tuesday), Ashanti and Libby will be representing Tangimoana School at the Interschool Cross Country at Ashhurst. This is the one where runners with a strength in running get to go up against other very good runners. Although this time, this is being held before our cluster event (as it is often the other way round), the girls will find the one on Friday a breeze compared to Tuesday s one. Well done to both of you for representing us at this very big event. Not only have they been training at school, but it has also been fantastic to hear of their training at home. Well done, and go get em girls.
2 Dharmesh and Roshni Modi welcome you to Four Square Rongotea. Come on in for a great selection of quality foods and groceries, and at great prices. We look forward to seeing you soon at 54 Thames Street, Rongotea. Phone: Monday-Friday 7am 7pm. Saturday and Sunday 8am 7pm. Makino Pools Trip What a great trip out. Although I didn t go, I heard the kids had a fantastic time. Good on you kids. I must admit, after the first 30 mins of them leaving school, although I got a lot done, it was just too quiet for my liking. It was great to hear the laughter and chatter as some started to return at the end of the day. Many thanks to all of those who assisted with transport. It was fantastic that we were able to have enough parents (and teachers) to take the whole school without having to resort to an extra expense of hiring a van. Thanks parents, you all get a sticker. Many thanks as well to Jan for organising the lunch, to Penny for making this opportunity possible, and to Bill Anderson and Jo Beard for assisting with transport as well as making sure the day went smoothly. Many thanks to everyone for making the day out, a fantastic day for everyone. Welcome A big welcome to Tangimoana to Louise Baynes who joins the team from Monday. I am sure you will have a fantastic time being part of a fantastic team and community. Assembly at 2.15 This Thursday we are going to have a small assembly (something we haven t done yet). We will start at about 2.15 in the classroom, and we will go through until hometime (so you get to take them home at the end). You are most welcome to attend. For all your stationery requirements, see the team at Warehouse Stationery in Palmerston North at Rangitikei Street. Phone: pmr@stationery.co.nz Hours: Monday-Friday 8am-6pm. Weekends 9am-5pm.
3 Contact Bevan and the team for all your requirements for home, trade, or business Featherston Street Palmerston North. Phone: Hours: Monday - Friday 7am-7pm. Saturday and Sunday 8am-6pm. Paper 4 Trees Many thanks to Jo Beard and the kids for planting the new trees we got at school last week from Paper 4 Trees. These have been given to us for our recycling efforts from sponsors Manawatu District Council and Smart Environmental, our local sponsors (a big thank you to them). These have now been planted at the schoolhouse end of the field. Uniforms Many thanks to all those who have returned their uniforms cleaned. These will be given out again on Friday morning for the kids to wear at the Cluster Cross Country at Bainesse School. We were short a few last week, but we have now got quite a few new red polo shirts, so touch wood, we now have enough shirts for all the Year 1-8 kids. After the cross country, can you please ensure these are all washed over the weekend, and returned back to school on Monday. Tent Challenge Last week I decided to throw a challenge to our leaders (Ashanti, Chloe D, Libby, Jack, Hunter). They weren t told what it was until we actually did it. What they had to do was put a tent up as quick as possible. It was certainly interesting with some shall we say. Don t worry Hunter, I won t say anything about the start with yours. As they had to do these individually, they didn t have the luxury of having someone to help them. It was great to see how they all stuck with it, even when parts were frustrating at times. They are so lucky we didn t have any wind as we were doing it, otherwise we may have been parachuting rather than tenting with the way some of them started. I know who I will be asking for help to put a tent up. Well done to you all, for having fun with it, for not giving up when it was getting frustrating, and thinking for yourselves. You all did great, even though we did run out of time. Your local council: Stretching from Rangiwahia in the North to Himatangi Beach in the South. 4 See Brian, Grant, Brice and the team at Farm Supplies Central for all your farming, business, and domestic irrigation and pump requirements. 55 Thames Street, Rongotea. Phone: /7 service available. Here when you need us. Week 6 Lunches Our little Alison Holst and Jamie Oliver cooks from last week who cooked and served up American Hot Dogs were PeAta, Jaylah, Daniel and Hunter. They did a great job and fed the masses (well, the masses Tangimoana style anyhow). Well done to you all. I won t mention the tomato sauce that ended up on the floor, as like the coffee stains, the tomato drop would have been Mrs Casey, and not you kids (sorry Mrs Casey.NOT!). Until next week, stay safe and thanks for your continued support in making Tangimoana School a fantastic place to be. Kind regards, The Tangimoana School Children, Staff and Board. Bella Collett You have a fantastic birthday for the 19 th Bella, and many happy returns from all the kids and staff of Tangimoana School. And do you know what? (WHAT) It s Queen Elizabeth s birthday. Jayde wants to tell you all about her surprise. She got given to her as a present and she opened it and got some card pictures. 6 J Here are some of the juniors stories. Here is Bella s story. Once upon a time there lived a beautiful princess called Snow White. She lived in a cottage in the woods. She lived with seven dwarfs and the 2 dwarfs names were Grumpy and Grouchy. That is all I know. The end. Great story Bella. Now for Jaylah s story. I am going to the pools to see Mrs. Yanko. Thanks Jaylah for that wonderful story. Wow what a wonderful trip we had on Friday it was fun and we all enjoyed it. Here are some photos of what we got up to and some other photos of what we got up to during the week. Congratulations too for getting Wilbur on the weekend. This week we have had Mrs Beard to teach us all about freezing methods. We got ourselves into groups and we got to make a new ice block. Big Thank You to Jayde Brown and Charlotte Master Spry for writing and telling us all about our great week.

It is written from their point of view, and most stories, articles, notices are all written and edited by the children themselves. Term 2 Week nr On Friday all the senior class and Harlan went and played ripper rugby at Rongotea School. The two teams that went in were called Tangi Titans which were the younger team, and the older team was called the Tangi Terrors. We all had a good game and we also saw Miss Yanko. The felid was really muddy so everybody keep on falling over. This edition of Eye on Tangimoana Kids Talk was written by the following students of Tangimoana School: By Jordan (Yr 5) and Meadow (Yr 5) This is the Tang Terrors leaving to go back to school. Everybody had a great time and we all cant wait till next year. There were a lot of people at Rongotea School. Lots of people keep doing knock-ons because it was very muddy. Thank you to the parents and teachers who took transport and coached all the children. Don t forget about the trip on Friday. Don t forget that the hedge it is out of bounds. Last term some lettuces were planted and let off some seeds. They are known as little babys and 1 medium size. Theweth
