Looking for a way to get involved with Marching Band Volunteer! We are still in need of volunteers to help during At Home Camp this month. It s a great way to be involved and meet other parents. Log into Charms and go to the Volunteer Button choose at home camp to see what s available! Bring a book or something to do as this is not a strenuous endeavor! The Marching Band is in need of a photographer to capture the season. We are looking for someone who can take pictures during games, competitions, and some practices. Please plan to have your LifeTouch picture taken THIS Friday from 7:30-10:30. These are pictures for student IDs and the yearbook, so please dress accordingly. As preparations are being made for Away Camp, we are in need of a few more chaperones...especially Dads! We are still in need of several Dads to chaperone Away Camp, Sunday, Aug. 27-Wednesday, Aug. 30th. Please, please, please, consider coming to beautiful Camp Nissikone. It's a great way to see behind the scenes and watch the show develop! Chaperoning is easy, fun, and FREE! We must have enough chaperones to be in compliance! Hurry, Hurry, call Karen Surace,

This is a fun / fundraiser for us, and it requires many hands. It s a lot of fun & a great way to meet band families! Go to - school code wlcmb & sign in to your kid s account. (go to volunteer area and click on preview show). 4. NEEDED: Do you own a sign company? Can you engrave? Have a connection for Gatorade donations? If so, please contact us at wlcmbgoband@gmail.com SCRIP! SELLING SCRIP GIFT CARD INVENTORY & TAKING ORDERS -- THURSDAY, AUGUST 17TH PARENT MEETING! Peggy Slate will be selling off her existing inventory at the mandatory Parent Meeting on August 17th! Attached is a list of the cards she will be selling. Also, we will be accepting prepaid orders for gift cards on this date -- so use the attached order form and see shopwithscrip.com under "Shop" to see all of the gift cards you can choose from when ordering. Orders will be in by Thursday, August 24th and can be picked up at Peggy's house or you can contact Peggy to arrange a time to pick up at WLC. VIKING INVASION!!! Come out and watch a scrimmage game, cheer along, sing the fight song, and hear the marching band. Viking Invasion brings together some of the fall sports/activities with a picnic to follow. 5 What is involved? The real WORK Hauling water, passing out pretzels, administering meds, encouraging, and providing basic first aid. The real FUN - Getting to know other Band parents, meeting the Band members (your child s family at school), seeing the show develop, learning the basics of marching and drill, knowing where YOUR child is on the field, and finding out where the ice machines are at the school! You ll also be amazed at how fantastic our band kids are!!! They are fun to watch and interact with Who can help? ALL parents of WLC Viking Marching Band members are welcome to chaperone during At Home Camps! We cover all sections of the band, so sometimes you ll be with your child s section but not always. When? Every day that the Band is at WLC during the week of JUNE 19-23, the WHOLE month of AUGUST, and the first week of SEPTEMBER until school starts! What kind of time is involved? Each day is divided into two shifts. When we get into August, the dinner break will be the changing of the guard. Many parents are in and out at that time anyway to deliver food. If your work schedule or responsibilities with your other family members make it so that the start/end times that are set up don t work for you, just let Lynne know that and we can be flexible. What to bring? We could be inside or outside, on our own or in pairs or groups, moving around or sitting. So a camp chair, something to read, water bottle, snacks, a meal if you re staying over the dinner break, comfy shoes, sun hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, etc. How do you get in on this fun? Log on to CHARMS. Go to the Volunteer Opportunities tab and choose the date(s) that you want to chaperone. When you click the date, the shift openings will show up. Just fill in your info, including your cell phone and , and you ll be all set. We need 4 chaperones per shift!
