HAPPENINGS By:Morgan In Fourth Grade We have great news to share!! Mr. Pape became Dr. Pape on October 31st. Congrats to Dr. Pape on defending his dissertation and becoming a Doctor in Education. BRRRRR. So far we have had 4 school cancellations due to snow/cold days!! Looks like ICS students will be going to school past May! Exciting News. Educators from Hong Kong will be visiting ICS later in February! They are making the long trip to see all the innovative and technological ways we learn at ICS. We are very excited to welcome them here! The We Create Change Club started a new fundraiser in November/December. The middle school had a change war, while the elementary grades collected change. The money will be used to help women in poverty. We had our last spirit day of 2nd quarter on December 12, It was Christmas sweater day. It did not need to be ugly but we had a lot of ugly ones. We also had some nice red, white, and green sweaters. We all looked amazing!
8th Grade students took their 8th Grade Pictures on Our leaders of the school were dressed in ties, dress shirts and dresses. They looked amazing. Two more quarters and our 8th graders will be moving on to High School! The annual Halloween Ball was great! We had so many fun games such as The Wheel Of Terror and we had half of the library as an AWESOME video game room! We even had a really cool jail cell, where you could lock up your friends, teachers, and even Dr.Pape. Dr. Pape was dressed as a doctor. We also had some amazing raffles. We had some really cool prizes, and some great winners. Finally we had a picture coloring contest that was displayed on the lockers in the hall, and of course some really happy winners. I can t wait until next year to see what awesome activities the Halloween ball will have! On Oct. 31st, we had our annual ICS parade. Dr. Hertel and Dr. Amadei led the parade in their costumes, Cookie and Milk. There were some really unique costumes at ICS like Kiss, President Trump and his wife Melania and other cool costumes. We had our Middle School Dance! They had so much fun. It was the middle school s first dance of the year.
Thank you to the PTC for helping support this fun event. They had some delicious food and great DJ music. It was from 6:00pm to 7:30pm. It was on Friday November, All the proceeds of the dance are going towards a new Gaga Pit outside. 6 Things to do in Winter Winter is a cold time of the year and you probably want to do something to warm you up even in the cold snow. 1. Sledding is a good choice if you like to faceplant your face in snow or enjoy a cold breeze on the way down the hill. 2. Having a snowball fight with family and friends who can tolerate the ball of pure coldness. Make sure there is no debris in the snowball, or someone could get hurt. 3. Make a snowman... they are easy to make all you need is snow, carrots, and leaves. 4. Make ice cream out or slushies out of the snow. 5. Ice Skating - There are plenty of outdoor ice skating rinks to go ice skating with family and friends! 6. Make Snow Angels- When it snows, go outside, lay on your back and move your feet and arms back and forth on the ground. 7. Make Water turn into snow. On a very cold day (Around 0 degrees) put really hot water into a cup. Go outside and throw the water in the air...it automatically turns to snow! Enjoy winter everybody!

The Chicago soccer team started in October 8, 1997 and their first season started in The Chicago soccer team plays at a park called Toyota Park.It is located in Bridgeview, Illinois. The player that has led the players in goals is 2017 Nemanja Nikolic 34 (Games Played) 24 (Goals Scored) Have you ever been to a Chicago Fire Soccer game? If not, you should check it out! It is a lot of fun! Reindeers Story Time By: Samantha Joseph Have you ever heard of reindeers, and how they steer Santa s sleigh at the night before Christmas? Well, reindeers don t fly but some actually have a red nose! There are so many other interesting facts about reindeers that you surely won t regret reading.
Did you know in North America reindeers are called caribou? Some people in North America mistakenly think caribou and reindeers are 2 different types of species but they're wrong. Reindeers are part of the deer family (I think that makes sense) also known as the Cervidae family. This includes deer, elk, moose, and wapiti. Like the other animals in this family, reindeers have long legs, hooves, and antlers (not all animals in the deer family have antlers), but reindeers have the largest and heaviest antlers of all living deer species. A male s antlers can measure up to 51 inches (130 centimeters) long, and a female s antlers can reach 20 inches (50 centimeters). Says the San Diego Zoo website. And the antlers of a male will fall of around the month of november (Sometimes even early december) but will soon grow back again. But a females antlers stay on long after (but they do fall of).
The winter Fight Once upon a time there were 3 best friends. They had a sleep over at Gianna s.house everyone's name was Gianna, Grace and Payton. They went to a place called the YMCA. There was ice skating, skiing and hockey. We all wanted to play the same thing, but it didn t happen They all got in a fight, ut it wasn t any ordinary fight, it was THE WINTER FIGHT! They were in a fight because everyone wanted to go ice skating, but there were not enough skates. They all were yelling at each other and walked away with their arms crossed and rolled eyes They asked Giannas mom that if they did not have to have a playdate they didn t want a sleepover ether. But they met each other at
the park. They agreed to be friends as long as this did not happen next year. The Blue Whale Did you know that the blue whale is largest animal that ever lived. The blue whale can reach up to 100 meters and weigh up to 150 tons. The color of the blue whale is darkish blue with speckled light blue dots. The blue whale eats krill and copepods.
