JUNIOR STANDSTILL JUNIOR MARCHING YOUTH STANDSTILL YOUTH MARCHING There is a maximum of 2 teams per church. Scripture: (Choose one from bottom of the Ushers Drill ) 1. 2 GUIDELINES FOR THE 2017 YOUTH USHERS DRILL COMPETITION All Standstill Drills will be the same. The signs and signals in the Standstill Drill will be used in the Marching Drill. Basic ushering must be used in the drills. All drills will be judged on the same basic points. Points to be judge: Signs and Signals Accuracy of performance (knowing the Drill) Uniforms Uniformity of movements Scripture quoting Basic ushering (includes service position, executing the prayer position, etc). The signs, signals and positions in the Standstill Drill are: Signal for Ushers to go on the floor UNIVERSAL MANUAL Service position Universal Manual Prayer position Literature Envelopes Door Keeper s Information Receive guest and pass on Seat guest on left and right side Come to the beginning of the aisle All Clear Come off the floor Judges must know the drill in order for them to judge correctly and fairly. Standstill and Marching Drills must be done in (5) five minutes or less; all drills will be timed. Signs in the Marching Drill should be done in the same order as the Standstill Drill. Additional signs and signals done incorrectly will receive a (1/4) point deduction. No points will be added for additional signs and signals done correctly. Standstill Drill time will begin when the FIRST usher enters the stage area. Marching Drill time begins when any team member makes a move after the team has been declared ready to start. All Marching Drill music must be done by either; Audio player, musicians, or vocally by members of the marching team. There will be additional points deducted for drills that contain inappropriate gestures or movements (Romans 12:2; John 15:19). If there is a tie, questions from the UNIVERSAL MANUAL will be asked of the team captains involved. Names of the teams competing will be turned in to the Drill Coordinators (1) one hour prior to the competition. NO EXCEPTIONS, FAILURE TO ADHERE TO THE RULES WILL RESULT IN YOUR TEAM NOT PERFORMING.
3 AGE LEVELS Juniors: Ages 5 to 12 years. Persons turning 13 years old on the day of the Youth Convention will be considered a youth. Youth and Young Adult: Ages 13 to 24 years. Persons turning 25 years old on the day of the Youth Convention will not be eligible for the Drill Competition. Parents or persons (male or female) who are prospective parents will not be eligible for the Drill Competition. Males: Hair must be neatly groomed. Males: Facial hair must be neatly groomed. DRESS CODE Males: Uniform must be the same color and style. Males: Shoes must be the same color and style. Males: No earrings or any other facial or neck: piercing. Females: All uniforms must be the same color and style. Females: Shoes must be the same color and style with closed toe and heel. Females: Uniforms length must adhere to the universal manual. Females: Earrings will be only one per ear. Studs or Pearls only 16mm in size. No hoops or loops. Females: No visible piercing or ornaments on face, nose or neck. Females: Neck jewelry; such as chains or pearls, must be small. Females: Hair ornaments must be the same color and style. Matching uniforms. White Gloves must be part of the uniform. One (1) glove per hand. MARCHING DRILLS We are in the world, but not a part of the world. God does things decently and in order. Your marching movements must emulate the signs and signals of ushering, and all movement must be pleasing in God's sight. The worldly dance movement should not be seen or reflected in your Marching Drills. We pray that these guidelines will be taken in the spirit of love, and that we will all adhere to them. 4 2017 USHERS STANDSTILL AND MARCHING DRILL 1. All Ushers march on stage in single file. All Ushers make a right face. 2. All Ushers go into UNIVERSAL MANUAL SERVICE POSITION. Ushers 2, 4, and 6 give the signal for Ushers to GO ON THE FLOOR 3. All Ushers recite selected scripture. All Ushers go into UNIVERSAL MANUAL PRAYER POSITION. All Ushers come out of prayer position and back into service position. 4. Ushers 1, 2, and 3 give the sign for LITERATURE (PROGRAMS). 5. Ushers 4, 5, and 6 give the sign for ENVELOPES. 6. All Ushers give the sign for DOOR KEEPER S INFORMATION. 7. Ushers 3 and 4 take one (1) step forward, receive an imaginary guest and pass to other Ushers. Ushers 1 and 2 receive imaginary guest from Ushers 3 and 4 and seat to the right. Ushers 5 and 6 receive imaginary guest from Ushers 3 and 4 and seat to the left. (To be done at the same time as Ushers 1 and 2). 8. USHERS 2 and 5 take a half step forward. 9. Ushers 1 and 2 make a right face turn, then a right about face. Then a 1/8 turn (half of a right face). Ushers 5 and 6 make a 1/8 turn to your right at the same time as USHERS 1 and All Ushers give the sign to COME TO THE BEGINNING OF THE AISLE. Then Ushers 3 and 4 give the signal for ALL CLEAR. 11. All Ushers give the sign to COME OFF THE FLOOR. All Ushers come out of service position. All Ushers unfold letters with left hand. 12. Ushers 1, 2, 5 and 6 make a 1/8 turn to your right then Ushers 1, 2, 3 and 4 make a right face. Ushers 3 and 4 make a full side step to your right and at the same time Ushers 2 and 5 make a half step to your right. 13. All Ushers make a right about face then all Ushers march off stage in single file. Scriptures Proverbs 3:5-6, Hebrews 6:11-12, John 15:12-13, Romans 12:3, Ephesians 4:31-32
