4 Page 4 Cheerleader Champions! Volume 9, Issue 1 Bridge Elementary School varsity cheerleaders won third place at the AmeriCheer-AmeriDance 2004 Great Lakes Championships. Our cheerleaders competed with teams from around the Great Lakes region. The Bridge School family is very proud of our cheerleading squad. Congratulations! AMELIA EARHART LANDS AT BRIDGE Actress Amy Johnson from Historical Perspectives performed two shows for all the children of Bridge School on April 8th. The actress told the story of famous female aviator Amelia Earhart. Amelia Earhart was the first pilot to fly solo across the Atlantic Ocean and the first female pilot to fly solo across the Pacific Ocean. Students were treated to a re-creation of various important events in the legendary aviator s life. The performances were followed by a question and answer period where students were allowed to ask questions about the pilot s life.

10 Page 10 Volume 9, Issue 1 BRIDGE ANNUAL SPRING FLING CARNIVAL March 20th-23rd Ride Specials-Unlimited Rides: Thur., 5/20 from 6:00 pm until closing $12.00 per wristband Sat. & Sun., 5/22&23 from Noon until 5:00 pm $15.00 per wristband Carnival Rides Games Food Family Fun For Our Community ZOO-TO-YOU On April 7, 2004 Zoo-To-You sponsored by Peoples Energy visited rooms 001 and 002. Students discussed the habitat, origin and diet of each animal. Categories were also discussed such as mammals, reptiles and birds. The types of protection each animal had as well adaptations that each animal had made were also discussed. Students were able to pet the animals and ask questions. Room 001 learned about a rabbit, a rooster and a python snake. Room 002 students learned about a hedgehog, a horned turtle and an iguana. The presenters were very knowledgeable. The children thoroughly enjoyed the presentation and hope Zoo-To-You can visit again next year.
11 Bridge Bugle Page 11 SIX HOUR READING CLUB Six Hour Reading Club was a great success. 168 students from grades K-6 and 17 teachers have participated. All of them will receive free tickets to Six Flags Great America. Enjoy it. BLOOMING SPRING AT BRIDGE The Horticulture Club has been busy again this year. The photo shows a couple horticulture club members caring for flowers that were graciously donated by the Dworak family and Mrs. Mary Stevens. Caring students, family, and community members make our school beautiful! JUMP-A-THON RAISES BIG $ The Jump-A-Thon raised $2, for the American Heart Association this year! The #1 fundraiser: Jessica Henmueller, Room 106 ($260.00) The #2 fundraiser: Emily Cappy, Room 004 ($225.00) The #3 fundraiser: Brook Frankie, Room 003 ($135.00) Congratulations and thanks to all the students who participated and helped make this the best Jump-A-Thon ever!
