3 Introduction This document should be read and used in conjunction with the British Gymnastics National Trampoline Technical Committee National Competition Handbook 2013, the British Gymnastics Code of Points 2013 and the Scottish Gymnastics Trampoline and DMT Handbook Izzy Milns, Competition Secretary, July 2013 Registration to Compete Any gymnast who wishes to compete under the British Gymnastics National Grading Structure (National A) must be a member of British Gymnastics. At Regional C and B, SG Recreational Membership is required; SG Competitive Membership is required at National A. Once a gymnast is at National A they are also required to complete the BG Medical Classification Pack. Rules Trampolining for People with Disabilities (TPD) follows the same rules as trampolining, which can be found in the BG Code of Points unless otherwise stated in the BG Competition Handbook. All competitors must have a disability recognised by international disability sport organisations. Disabilities definitions are laid down by BG and will be adhered to, following those definitions recognised by the World Heath Organisation. Category 1 = Learning Disability Category 2 = Physical or Sensory Disability Each category will compete separately and there will be separate categories for male and female gymnasts. The routines for Regional C and B and National A can be found on page 31 of the BG Competition Handbook. For clarification, the Star Awards are the same as the BG Proficiency Awards. Any gymnast with Down s Syndrome must be screened for atlanto-axial instability before being allowed to compete. If any instability is noted then it will be up to the British Gymnastics Chief Medical Officer to determine the gymnast s level of involvement. This must be carried out due to the following risk: Due to the changes within the joint, some people with Down s Syndrome who have confirmed atlanto-axial instability may be at a greater risk of whiplash type injuries (from activities such as trampolining), which could lead to paralysis. They may also be at a greater risk of serious injury arising as a result of chronic pressure on the neck. (Gymnastic activities such as headstands or backward rolls could cause this type of pressure on the neck) BG Health Safety and Welfare Policy-Updated v4. 3

4 If a competitor competes in mainstream Regional D they are no longer eligible to compete in the Disabilities section. If they are already competing in Regional D but wish to move to disabilities (as disabilities was not available to them before) they will need to write to the disabilities committee at British Gymnastics and ask permission. Once in the disabilities section they can only compete up to and including Regional E. Trampoline Competition Dress Female Regional C Tier 1. Leotard, with or without sleeves, and white foot covering. 2. Leotard, with or without sleeves, and hipster type shorts of similar material to the leotard and white foot covering. 3. One piece full ankle length unitard and white foot covering. 4. Plain single coloured t-shirt, gymnastics shorts and white foot covering. Long tights may be worn (must be skin tight). Female Regional B and National A competition Tiers The dress code is as directed by British Gymnastics Code of Points. Only at Regional B, girls are permitted to wear gymnastics shorts over their leotards. Male Regional C Tier 1. Sleeveless leotard and gym trousers/shorts in a single colour (dark or deep colours are no longer allowed) and foot covering of the same colour as the gym trousers/shorts or white. 2. Short sleeved, single colour t-shirt and single coloured gym trousers/shorts and white foot covering. Male Regional B and National A competition Tiers The dress code is as directed by British Gymnastics Code of Points. Competition Dates All TPD competitions will run alongside the Trampoline Assessment Days and National Championships. All the Assessment Days and the National Championships will be held in the main arena at Bells Sports Centre Perth. Entry fees are 10 per gymnast for the Assessment Days and 15 per gymnast for National Championships. 4

5 Promotion Offers Within TPD there are no promotion offers given and movement between tiers is optional. Qualification for the Scottish National TPD Championships All gymnasts will have the entitlement to compete at the National Championships provided they have competed in at least one Scottish Assessment Day in 2013 and completed two routines that meet the requirements of that tier. Scottish National TPD Championships Format Medals will be awarded to the three highest-ranking positions within category. Regional C and B trophies will be awarded to the male and female gymnast with the highest score. The Men s and Ladies overall champions will be the gymnast at National A with the highest score. The Form Cup will be awarded to the competitor with the highest set score of the day. The Tariff Cup will be awarded to the person with the highest tariff in a Vol. 5
