3 General Information General Information Simply safe HELM Hinging facility against falls from heights, also called personal safety installations, are used as a protection system for cleaning and maintenance staff in case of high-rise facades. Many special applications have been added in the meantime, such as in high rope courses. So every time when people move in areas where they are at risk of falling. Personal-safety systems need to be robust and easy to maintain and are subject to strict rules in design and manufacture. These requirements are fulfilled with HELM tracks and fittings, certificated by DIN EN 795:2012 Typ D and are manufactured with high quality materials and many years of experience. For drafting an offer constructional drawings and detailed information with regard to the statics of the structure are required. You will find notes with regard to the certifications or acceptance tests on pages 4-7. The HELM range is complemented by belts, fall restraint systems and further safety related accessories (page 17). 4 Certification Certification according to DIN EN 795 The HELM 500 to 700 tracks are certified according to DIN EN 795:2012 Typ D. This standard permits a simple and quick comparison between different products according to the following criteria: special requirements for arrester equipment static carrying capacity dynamic carrying capacity instruction manual labelling The certificates can be requested as PDF, in several languages, from us. Employed notified instance: DEKRA EXAM GmbH Dinnendahlstr. 9 D Bochum ID-number 0158 Technical information The forces acting at the point of impact in the event of fall are to be assumed for the load distribution in the structure. During the softening of the PSA, the first person has a force effect, in the building body, of 6.0 kn. For the fastening of the PSA, the first person = +1 kn A static calculation with a safety factor of 1.5 is usual in practice. 1 Person = 6 kn x 1,5 = 9,0 kn 2 Person = (6 kn + 1) x 1,5 = 10,5 kn 3 Person = (6 kn + 2) x 1,5 = 12,0 kn 4 Person = (6 kn + 3) x 1,5 = 13,5 kn This information is only valid in conjunction with: - High altitude safety devices - Connections with shock absorbers Please note that the anchor device is type - approved according to DIN EN 795:2012. Technical Information HELM Tracks profiles The HELM track profiles are available in steel blank or zinc-plated, in stock lengths of max. approx. 6000 mm or in fixed lengths.

9 Technical Information Determining the track bend radiuses Bends The following radiuses guarantee a smooth movement of the rollers through the curves. Depending on the radius (R) the overlengths (L) of the bends can vary. GC 0505 HELM Fall arrest inertia reel according to EN in plastic housing with rotary swivel suspension and wire rope - wire rope length of 3-24 m Fall arrest inertia reels are used for protecting against falls from heights. They are fitted with a retractable wire rope or belt webbing. The devices use a recuperating spring, thus keeping the rope/webbing under tension all the time. In case of a fall or in the event of exceeding the work speed (approx. 1.5m/sec.) the retaining ratchets catch through centrifugal forces.
