1 SECTION Wire Rope Slings & Bridles All four of the Coordinated Wire Rope companies specialize in the fabrication of wire rope slings in many different sizes and configurations. The wire rope sling has been the tried and true lifting companion for many years. At first wire rope slings were fabricated by hand, forming an eye in a piece of rope and then weaving the rope back into itself. Years later, the wire rope sleeve and press were invented allowing lifting eyes to be pressed in large diameter ropes to be made into lifting slings for lifting massive objects. Coordinated Wire Rope has been making slings in Wilmington, CA since 196. We have some of the most highly skilled riggers in the country, making Coordinated the first choice for rigging when challenging lifts must be completed safely. According to ANSI B30.9 regulations, wire rope slings will have a design factor of at least 5:1 and be tested to 00% of the Working Load Limit (WLL). Each sling shall have a tag showing the manufacturers name or trademark, size and capacity. If a sling is missing the identification tag it must be removed from service. At Coordinated Wire Rope you have the choice of single leg slings, two leg, three or four leg bridles, hand splice slings, flat braid and round braided wire rope slings. Our equipment includes a 500 ton press with a capacity to swage up to 3" diameter wire rope. We also swage up to 1-½" diameter wire rope in the field with our portable 600 ton and mobile 500 ton presses. The largest wire rope press on the West Coast, a 4000 ton, is part of Coordinated Wire Rope s impressive equipment inventory. For wire rope sling inspection guidelines and removal criteria, please visit our website: 16 Making Quality and Safety Our Priority

8 Flat Rope A flat rope consists of a number of four strand wire ropes, usually consisting of four strands of seven wires each, of alternate right and left lay, laid side by side and sewed securely together with soft iron wires. The soft sewing wires act as a cushion for the individual ropes and wear more rapidly than the harder wires of the strands. When the sewing wires are worn out, the flat rope may be resewed in the field with new wire. Damaged or worn four strand ropes can be replaced at that time. The advantage of this type of wire rope is that it winds upon itself, ribbon fashion, on a drum slightly wider than the rope and it does not spin under load. This method of winding permits locating the hoisting drum nearer the load than if round wire was used as there is no fleet angle involved. Flat rope braid is used primarily for lifting and lowering dam spill gates throughout various parts of the United States. Coordinated Wire Rope is one of the only companies in the United States experienced in fabricating and testing this unique product. WARNING! ALWAYS USE SAFE RIGGING AND LIFTING PRACTICES WHEN USING WIRE ROPE. ALWAYS INSPECT THE ROPE FOR DAMAGE PRIOR TO EACH USE. REFER TO MANUFACTURERS RECOMMENDATIONS FOR CRITERIA FOR REMOVAL. REPAIRS SHOULD BE MADE BY QUALIFIED INDIVIDUALS ONLY. USE ONLY FOR THE INTENDED PURPOSE IN AN APPROVED MANNER. 3
