30 Petzl Solu ons Network Petzl Solutions Network In 2013 Petzl launched the Petzl Solutions Network initiative. The prime purpose of the Petzl Solutions Network is to help the vertical community to progress towards effi cient and safer activities by sharing knowledge and experience of the vertical environment and the techniques used. This goal will be achieved via a worldwide network of Petzl Technical Institutes and Petzl Technical Partners. As the UK and Ireland s Petzl Technical Institute and one of the founding members of the Petzl Solutions Network, Lyon Equipment is able to offer services that include the selection, guidance and audit of potential Petzl Technical Partners plus a range of Petzl Solutions Modules to complement our own training courses. Introducing Petzl Solutions Petzl Solutions consist of a range of modules which aim to provide a complete understanding of products and the environment in which they will be used. Each module is linked to a specifi c issue. Adapted for a wide audience, the modules are based on both experimentation and the situations the products are used in. Petzl Solution Modules are arranged into three categories: The Expertise Environment modules aim to provide a better understanding of specifi c vertical environments in order to better adapt techniques and use of specifi c equipment. The Product Expertise modules are developed to provide a better understanding of Petzl equipment in order that the user can make informed choices regarding selection and use of equipment. The Expertise Solution modules are centred on the analysis of how different products interact when used together to provide a Solution. A single product is only a component of a system or a Solution. Consideration of the interaction between different components permits a better understanding of how these different equipment confi gurations will perform and provides improved capability to deal with new challenges in the vertical environment. Petzl Solution Modules currently available from Lyon Equipment include: Solution Category Expertise Environment Expertise Solution Expertise Solution Expertise Solution Expertise Environment Product Expertise Module Title EXO fi re-fi ghter evacuation system User EXO fi re-fi ghter evacuation system - Trainer Module Descriptor Applications, demonstration and practical training in the use of the EXO evacuation system Learn to demonstrate & teach the use of the EXO evacuation system Petzl Module Code VAX 006 VAX 007 Belaying a climber Responsibilities and techniques VAX 026 Mobile fall arrester Myths versus realities VAX 027 Tree care basics Discover rope based arboriculture VAX 024 ZIGZAG mechanical Prusik Discover and experience the Petzl ZIGZAG mechanical Prusik VAX 025 For more information on Petzl Solution Modules or to enquire about how to become a Petzl Technical Partner, please contact the Lyon Equipment Training Manager. 33 Statement of Medical Condi on It should be understood that work at height courses, of all levels, involve a certain amount of physical and mental exertion. Certain medical conditions if uncontrolled are defi nite contraindications to safe and successful work at height. Ideally course delegates should be in possession of an appropriate full industrial medical certifi cate. As a minimum, before training commences, we require delegates to sign a Statement of Medical Condition to confi rm that they are historically free of the conditions listed below, and therefore there is no reason to exclude them from participation in a work at height course. If any of the conditions listed below apply to a delegate, he / she must advise their trainer. They will not necessarily be excluded from all elements of the training course. Contra-indications to working at height include, but are not limited to, the following: Heart disease / chest pain High or low blood pressure Epilepsy, fi ts, blackouts Fear of heights / vertigo Dizziness / diffi culty with balance Impaired limb function Alcohol or drug dependence Psychiatric illness Diabetes Musculo skeletal issues e.g. bad back; strains; sprains Obesity If delegates do not have a medical certifi cate addressing these points, they will be required to sign the following statement: To the best of my knowledge I do not suffer from any mental or physical condition, including those mentioned above, which could interfere with my ability to work at height in a satisfactory and safe manner or put myself or others at risk through my participation in these activities. We reserve the right to refuse training to any person without an appropriate medical certificate or who is unwilling to sign the above statement. 33
