General (U14-17) No coaching allowed during a match except in breaks or to assist significantly skill deficient players as specified. 5 1 MEMBERSHIP AND REGISTRATION Players must be registered with LCA and QCA either through associated clubs or direct with LCA. Clubs payments of association team registration fees are to be paid by 31 October each season or as otherwise determined by the LCA Executive. 2 COMPETITIONS Normal rules of Cricket and LCA Junior General Rules cover all matters not specially addressed in these supplementary rules. Competition shall be by age group of or shall be made up of: Under 8, 9 Under 10 Under 11, 12 Under 13, 14 Under 15, 16 Age determination shall be the player s age as of 31 August Age Requirements The following minimum and maximum age requirements apply unless an exemption is granted from the Logan Junior Cricket Committee. Clubs wishing to play over or under age players in particular age groups must seek approval during a Junior delegates meeting of the LCA. This action must be prior to the player taking part in any match in the specific age group. Applications to the Junior Delegates meeting must be in writing setting out the reasons why such approval should be given. Previous season s player statistics should be provided by the Club to support the application. The junior delegates meeting shall consider the skills and abilities of any over or under age player in comparison to other players of the same age group in its determination of the player s eligibility to play in the requested age group. Any player that has not been approved to play out of their age group by the Junior Delegates Meeting is deemed to be ineligible to play in that age group. The Junior Coordinator will keep a list of such players for the season. Should any Club or Team be found to have played any ineligible age player, the points for the match in which the ineligible player has played will not be awarded to that Team. The Junior Delegates meeting reserves the right to review any player s eligibility to play in an out of age group during the season should the skills and abilities of the player improve or change to the extent it is comparable to other players in their proper age group. The Club shall be invited to show cause why the eligibility of the under\over player should not be revoked. Any over-age player not approved by the Junior Delegates meeting of LCA shall not be eligible to receive player s awards. Girls may play up to 2 years over-age in a younger age group. 2.2 Team Sizes Age Group Under 9 Under 10 Under Participation Team Size 8 players 10 players Logan District Cricket Association Junior RulesVersion 1.3c 21 September 2015 Page players (a maximum of 11 can field at any one time and all can bat up to 10 wickets per innings) Coaches must rotate players through different positions in the batting and bowling orders, and wicket keeping in U14 and below age groups to ensure all players get an equal chance at batting and bowling. In Under 12/13/14 age groups coaches may arrange the batting and bowling orders and wicket keeping to maximise use of players that show specialist skills in these facets providing other players get an equal opportunity to participate (e.g. specialist batters may open as long as other positions in the order are rotated amongst the remaining players) 2.4 Fair Play and Spirit of the Game Coaches and Umpires are to ensure that the conduct of all games and any modification or interpretation of these rules is in accordance with the Principles of Fair Play and Spirit of the Game as contained in the Laws of Cricket. Any breaches of these laws are to be referred to the LCA Junior Committee for appropriate action through the club delegate.

6 2.5 Etiquette In order to foster a professional approach to the game the LDCA requires all players and teams to observe the Etiquette practices set down in Appendix G. Coaches of Under 10 and below Age Groups are expected to follow the spirit of these practices as much as possible taking into account the age and maturity of players, 2.6 Rule Modification Where these rules are silent on a particular matter the normal laws of cricket are to be applied. Coaches are expected, by mutual agreement, to modify the rules regarding game length, breaks, starting and finishing times, boundary lengths and bowling ends and limits (provided the specified minimum and maximum overs and spell periods are not breached) to take into account specific extenuating variables on the day of play such as extreme temperature, storms, field conditions or player numbers. Other rules may only be suspended or modified temporarily for that match only with the agreement of the junior coordinator who will notify the coaches and junior committee club representatives of both teams prior to the match via . Any approval under this sub clause will be advised to all Junior Committee members at the next scheduled junior committee meeting. Requests for rule suspension or modification of rules must be made no later than close of business on the Wednesday prior to the commencement of Saturdays match to allow time to communicate with all parties. 2.7 Players transferring teams Temporary transfer of player(s) for one game between teams, either within clubs, or between clubs, to ensure a sufficient numbers of players and full participation is permitted subject to the following restrictions: A player(s) cannot play for another team if: That player(s) team does not have a bye and The receiving team already has more than the specified maximum number of players required for that age group. The player(s) meet the minimum and maximum age requirements for the Age Group being played in, or has an exemption from the LCA Junior Committee to play out of their Age Group. The player is a representative player. A transferred player cannot bat above number 3 in the batting order or bowl higher than number 3 in the bowling order in an innings. Permanent player(s) transfers between teams\clubs or temporary transfers for more than one game need to be approved by the LCA Junior Committee. 2.8 Dress Hats:-Club Caps, White Sunhat Shirts:-White or Colour team shirts (If approved by LCA Juniors) Logo and Advertising Restriction:- Front: Logos pocket size only Back: No restriction but must be reasonable. Cricket sunhats or caps: Logo and advertising allowed Trousers: White / Cream Footwear: Compulsory white sport or cricket shoes. Cricket spikes are to be worn for all matches played on turf at Alberton, Springwood and Woongoolba Grounds and by all players in Under 13 and above Age Groups when playing on turf. Helmets: All players are encouraged to wear helmets and clubs are to make helmets available to players. Batters: In accordance with Australian Cricket Well Played Guidelines players in all age groups will Pads, Gloves, Groin Protector. Wicketkeepers: Are to wear helmets when keeping up at the stumps at all times as well as Groin protectors. 2.9 Equipment Stumps 78.7cm (31 ) No metal tips or ferrules (These are banned) Balls are as per each age group s rules. No match will commence unless the correct balls are provided and used. Any team that does not provide correct balls so a game cannot commence will forfeit the match with the corresponding points applied, if applicable Scoring (Use of Electronic Scoring Applications) The use of electronic scoring applications is permitted as an aid to normal scoring in the following circumstances: A backup hard copy scoresheet is completed The application allows the export of scoresheets in hard copy The scorer is proficient in manually scoring The coaches at the end of a match agree that both manual and electronic scoresheets match Policies and Procedures All Clubs are expected to at a minimum abide by the Policies and Procedures outlined in Appendix B to F of this document or equivalent provisions Disputes All disputes are to be dealt with in accordance with APPENDIX C BLJCA Disputes and Discipline Procedures. Coaches must make a written note of any incident including the names, times and details of those involved and any action taken before leaving the ground if a complaint is to be made. 7 Any disagreements regarding rules interpretations that cannot be resolved immediately without affecting the flow of the game will not be discussed until an appropriate innings break or after the match. Under no circumstances are coaches, other adults or players that are not umpiring\playing to enter the field of play or in any other way disrupt a game in progress due to any disagreement on the conduct of the game. The decision of the person in the central umpire position regarding the particular passage of play will stand regardless of the disagreement until consensus is reached on a mutually agreeable outcome. In the case of an umpiring decision that affects a match result as long as the party in disagreement with the central umpires ruling is accredited in accordance with 2.13 the junior coordinator may make a determination based on the evidence presented to alter the result or impose another form of penalty Coach\Umpire\Scorer Qualifications All team coaches will hold a minimum of an Australian Cricket Community Coaching Qualification. The coach or another responsible person with Community Coaching Level Qualifications must be present at each match. Coaches must undertake a compulsory rules briefing by their club district representative, on the current seasons rules before they are able to umpire or score a match. Other persons who will be assisting the coach with Umpiring\Scoring activities must first receive a rules briefing from the Coach. Coaches are required to sign that they have been briefed and fully understand and agree to abide by the rules and code of conduct for their age groups. This list will be forwarded to the Junior Coordinator prior to the first round of each season. Coaches who have not signed this document will have no recourse to make any complaints either on the field, to another club or the district on any matter arising from a game Publication of Results All match\player score, results and totals for competitive Age Groups from U11/12 up are to be entered into My Cricket by coaches\managers within 3 days of the end of a match. Results for the last round of the season before the finals fixtures are to be entered into My Cricket no later than 12 hours after the end of the final match. Any team whose results are not entered into My Cricket by the time of the final round will be allocated no points for that round with the other team played being given the points for a win if their results have been entered Fitness of Grounds Groundsman in attendance has full control of grounds at all times and if the groundsman determines that no play is possible, then both team officials must accept this as final and play will not be permitted to start or continue. If no groundsman is in attendance, officials from both teams will assess the fitness of the grounds as described hereafter and make the decisions. All players are to be present at the normal time for start of play even if it is raining. Except that if the home team official notifies the opposing team official on the day before that play would not be possible on the day of play, then the players are not required to be present at the normal time for start of play and play is abandoned for the day. If, at the normal time for the start of play, both team officials agree that play is not possible for the day, then play is abandoned for the day. If, at the normal time for the start of play, either or both team officials believe that a delayed start of play could occur, then the teams must wait at the ground until one hour after the normal starting time of play to reassess the fitness of the grounds and the playing conditions. If playing conditions are such that play is possible, reasonable efforts must be made to improve the wicket and ground surfaces using tools such as brooms or squeegees to make it safe for the players. If after reasonable endeavours to improve the wicket and ground surfaces have been made and if either team official considers either of the wicket surface, the playing surfaces or the playing conditions to be unsafe for play, then play will not be started or continued. Both team officials must agree for play to start or continue. After waiting for one hour and after reasonable endeavours to improve the wicket and ground surfaces have been made and if both team official considers that playing conditions may improve later in the day to the extent that play may be possible, then the team officials have the option to reassess the fitness of the ground at a later agreed time. Both team officials must agree to the later reassessment of the ground fitness. The same procedures above apply if play is interrupted by wet weather during the day and the continuation of play is considered unsafe. 9 2.24 Fielding Distances Defined minimum fielding distances for all Age Groups in accordance with Australian Cricket Well Played Guidelines issued 2012 V3 as follows: 2.26 Bowling Restrictions Defined maximum overs to be bowled per player for all Age Groups in accordance with Australian Cricket Well Played Guidelines as follows: Age Group U10 and below Fielders Minimum Fielding Distances* 15 metres except for wicketkeepers U11/12 15 metres with the exception of slips, gully and wicketkeeper U14 Under metres with the exception of slips, gully and wicketkeeper Within 10 metres but not closer than 5 metres. Wicket keepers 1.5 to 15 metres from the stumps to 15 metres from the stumps *Measured from the from the popping crease of the batsman on strike The Umpire after giving no less than 2 warnings to the fielding side per innings will call a no ball if the above fielding distances are breached. Under 15 / 16 - A fielder can field within 5 to 10 metres of the popping crease of the batter on strike if wearing a protector and helmet. Otherwise the Rules in the minimum fielding distances apply Wicketkeeper Over Limits To ensure adequate participation and rest periods the defined changeover period for wicketkeepers per Age Group are: Age Group Minimum Overs per Player U9 Compulsory 2 Overs per innings. At the discretion of the coach Wides For Under 12 and above age groups wides shall be judged as: LEG-SIDE: A ball which pitches outside the line of the leg-side danger area indicator (a line drawn 90 cm from the middle stump) and continues to move down the leg side, as a guide, should be called a wide. OFF-SIDE: A ball which passes the batsman outside the line of the off-side maker (a line drawn 120 cm from the off Stump), as a guide, should be called a wide Wides for Age Groups 10 and Under will be any ball that does not land on the pitch. 10 2.28 No Balls Any delivery that rises over shoulder height or would have passed on the full above waist height of the striker standing upright at the popping crease shall be immediately called a no ball. This is regardless of whether delivery is a slow paced one, spin or not. Any bowler that bowls more than two such deliveries in an over or more than three in an innings will not be allowed to bowl for the remainder of that innings Dead Balls (Non Turf Wickets) Ball bowled properly behaves erratically in the option of the umpire shall be called Dead Ball by umpire and re-bowled Time lost during play due to weather conditions In the event of time lost after the commencement of play, the number of overs lost shall be calculated at the rate of one over for every four (4) minutes of playing time. The venue for games cannot be changed without the permission of the LCA Junior Coordinator Forfeits and Time adjustments Should any team be unable to commence play within (15) fifteen minutes of the schedule time a forfeit may be claimed by the non-offending side. The Waiting officials can only suggest an adjustment so the game can go ahead. Any decision made prior to play and agreed upon cannot be changed once game has started with the agreed adjustment. 11 3 UNDER 8\9 AND UNDER 10 COMPETITION SUPPLEMENTARY RULES 3.1 General Moveable plastic stumps are to be used at the bowlers end and wooden stumps both with bails at the strikers end for all games batting and bowling creases will then need to be marked prescribed distances as per normal cricket rules. Ten Minute break between innings No drink breaks unless hot conditions or by mutual arrangement between teams 3.2 Batting All Players are to bat unless injured during game. No batter is to bat twice unless all other batters have batted once. (No exceptions) Batters bat in pairs. Overs to be faced by pairs are to be equal. If odd number of players coach selects 1 player to bat again this should be rotated through team over season giving all an equal share. Batters face the bowling at one end only Batters change over at end of overs or when players dismissed or during the over when officials are equalising the balls faced by the batters Officials at game to monitor that as far as practically possible batsmen in each pair share the batting equally. Batters are credited with all runs no matter how many times dismissed If I wide ball is bowled the batsman will be allowed one shot off a batting tee. All balls hit off a tee as a result of a wide delivery must be hit forward of a line from square leg to point. Any balls hit behind this line will immediately be called a dead ball by the Umpire. In the instance that a dead bowl is called the batter does not get another hit off the tee the next normal delivery in the over will then take place. For balls hit off a tee a maxi- zone will be introduced to encourage straight hits. The Maxi Zone is an area defined by a line, on the straight hit, drawn parallel to, and 25 meters behind, the bowling crease that intersects the boundary marked by double markers of a different colour and height placed on the boundary line at the intersecting points. For balls hit off a tee as a result of a wide delivery any runs made when a ball crosses the maxi-zone line will be doubled (e.g. 2 runs becomes four, a boundary four becomes 8 etc.). A maxi-zone shot still counts as valid should the ball hit one of the boundary markers and be deflected out of the zone, and if any fielder grounds themselves in the zone while in contact with the ball. The umpire will signal double runs by using the standard one day batting power play signal of moving his arm in a circular motion. Batters can still be out caught from a ball hit into the maxi-zone. 3.3 Bowling All players are to bowl during a match. Bowling is performed from one end only All players must bowl 2 overs (including Wicket Keepers) before any player bowls their third over, maximum of 3 overs per day Only teams with less than 8 players may bowl a player for more than 2 overs but a maximum of 3 overs per day. Those overs should be shared between several players. Six-ball overs will apply with no extra balls being allowed for No Balls or Wides. Wide balls are to be set on a tee for the batter to hit Balls bouncing more than twice will not be called a NO BALL in this age group. Bowlers are credited with every wicket taken by them Wides will be any ball that does not land on the pitch. 3.4 Fielding Fielders excluding wicket keepers must change position after each over. Coaches must work out a rotational indexing system for fielding enabling the bowling order to set up the fielding positions to ensure each player gets experience at different fielding positions. Coaches should ensure that as much as possible a standard field is set for each match balancing the number of offside and onside fielders. Wicket keepers are to be changed at the end of 10 overs of bowling and whilst batting pairs are changing Field markers are compulsory and to be placed no closer than 15 meters from the popping crease of the batter on strike. Fielders must not be in front of a fielding marker until the ball is struck by the striker however they can start from a position behind the marker and walk in to the marker as the bowler enters his run-up. Fielders must return to or behind the marker once the current ball in play becomes dead and before the next bowler commences his run-up for the next delivery. The umpire shall issue a warning to the fielding team coach\players for the first two breaches of this rule in a playing session. The third and subsequent breaches will be called a no ball immediately and the ball will be re-bowled. 13 4 UNDER 12 COMPETITION SUPPLEMENTARY RULES 4.1 General One day games are first innings only games. Two day games are a first innings game only unless the first innings is closed and sufficient time is available to commence a second innings. Play will not finish early even if a team is all out (10 wickets). In that case the team will continue to bat as stated in 4.3 Batting until the maximum overs for the innings have been reached. 4.2 Participation Player s participation and development is to be the overriding principle observed in this Age Group. To this end and to further the skill levels taking into account differing abilities coaches must bat and bowl their more capable players at the top of the order and their developing players at the bottom of the order. The more capable and developing players must be rotated each match within their half of the order to ensure participation. For example a team with five capable batters must bat at positions 1 to 5 and be rotated within those positions each match so one isn t opening all the time. Similarly bottom order batters must be rotated within positions 6 to 11. This also applies to more capable and developing bowlers in the bowling order selection. 4.3 Batting Batters who are dismissed must leave the wicket immediately. No batter shall bat again retired or Dismissed until all batters have batted at least once. Batters must return in strict order of dismissal with retired batters returning first in order of retirement and then all other batters who were dismissed should no retired batters remain. All returning batsmen will face a further maximum of 25 balls. Runs gained by previously dismissed batsmen will not be recorded or count towards the score. Batters change over when players are dismissed. 4.4 Bowling Bowling is performed from both ends. All players must bowl a minimum of 2 overs (Including Wicket Keepers) before any player bowls their third over. (Unless a player is injured and unable to bowl) An over shall consist of (6) fair balls to a maximum of 8 balls per over. (No more than 2 wides or No balls to be re-bowled) Any wicket taken of a previously dismissed batter that has returned to the crease will not be recorded against the bowler or team score. 4.5 Fielding Fielders excluding wicket keepers should change position after each over Coaches should work out rotational indexing system for fielding enabling the bowling order to set up the fielding positions. Wicket keepers are to be changed at the end of each session after 15 overs of bowling. 4.6 LBW The first time a player is given out LBW, it is to be treated as a warning (wicket does not count). If the next LBW is appealed and deemed out, the batsman is dismissed 4.7 Results \Scoring Under 11 matches are non-competitive if they are in a separate completion from U12 s. But if a result has to be worked out, the winning team will be the one with the highest number of runs at the end of the game. Under 11/12 and Under 12 matches are competitive. Results including player scores must be entered in My Cricket no later than 72 hours after the match is completed. The result is to be worked out with the winning team the one with the highest number of runs at the end of the game. 14 5 UNDER 13 TO UNDER 17 SUPPLEMENTARY RULES 5.1 General These matches are competitive. Coaching of players in any respect while they are on the field is not permitted by Coaches or Umpires with the exception of encouraging those players with significant skill insufficiencies that would affect their personal ability to fully participate in and enjoy the game. Coaches may advise players on technique or strategy during official breaks. No drink breaks unless hot conditions or by mutual arrangement between teams Teams may only have 11 fielders on the field at one time. Coaches must develop a rotational scheme to ensure all players get an equal opportunity to field throughout the season. If the start is delayed deduct 2 overs from the overs to be bowled for every 7 minutes delay. (Each side receives 1 less over per 7 Minutes) 10 wickets out is team all out unless team has less than 11 players 5.2 Batting Retired Batters can only return in order of retiring, 5.3 Bowling For under 15/16, all wides and no balls are to be re-bowled. However, if a player has difficulty in bowling sufficient fair balls in an over, due solely to the player s ability, then the umpire may exercise his discretion and limit the over to 8 deliveries. If it is not due to the player s ability, then all wides and no balls are to be re-bowled. For under 13 and under 14, there is to be a maximum of 8 deliveries per over with no more than 2 wides or no balls to be re-bowled. Umpires are required to be consistent with both teams bowling. 5.4 Fielding Fielders should be encouraged to field in several positions during the match Wicket keepers may be changed at the end of the bowling sessions or if necessary whilst batters are changing 5.5 LBW LBW is to be given out in these age groups Umpires are to ensure the ball does not pitch outside leg when giving LBW s 5.6 Penalty Rules When a team does not bowl their over requirement in the time allocated unless due to time lost on during play due to weather conditions the team can be penalised as below: The umpire will officially advise both teams and scorers in the event that any team does not bowl their minimum overs within the allocated time. In such circumstances a team will be penalised 1 Penalty Run per each ball not bowled and this will be added to the opposition teams score. (For example: Team A bowls 25 out or 30 overs therefore Team B will get 30 penalty runs (1 run x 30 balls not bowled) added to their total). 5.7 One Day Matches These matches are a first innings game only. Team batting first concludes their innings at 9.50am or 30 overs or all out whichever comes first. A Ten Minute break between innings If the Team bowling first fails to bowl 30 overs in the allotted time then they ONLY receive that same amount of overs when batting. Minimum of overs for a result to be worked out is 15 overs each. 5.8 Two Day Matches This is a first innings game only unless the first innings is closed and sufficient time is available to commence a second innings. Innings are 55 overs to be played consecutively. Games are not to finish early on day one. If at the completion of the first session, any time remains (after change of innings) play is to continue (even if there is only time for 1 over). The Team batting first bats until all out, 55 overs, or they declare whichever comes first. Any batsman at positions 12 and 13 that do not get a chance to bat because a team is all out are permitted to bat in any second innings should one occur, 2 x 3 min drink breaks are permitted (approximately every 17/18 Overs) in extreme heat coach s discretion to be used. If the team batting first is either bowled all out or declares before 55 overs then the team batting second can use the remainder of the 55 overs allocated for the first team PLUS their own allocation of 55 overs when they bat. For example if a Team A is bowled out or declares after 40 overs Team B batting second can utilise the remaining 15 overs plus their own 55 for a total of 70 batting overs. If the Team bowling first fails to bowl 55 overs in the allotted time they ONLY receive that same amount of overs when batting. On the second day, the last hour of play commences at 10.45am and a minimum of 16 overs are then to be bowled by 11.50am. Play will otherwise conclude at 11.45am. If the minimum of 16 overs are not bowled by 11.50am, then penalty will apply. Time lost during play due to weather conditions If rained out on the first Saturday then a One Day game is to be played on the second Saturday as per One day rules. For games scheduled on turf only, if, in the first week of a round, weather does not permit play to be scheduled, play may be transferred to an alternate vacant turf or synthetic pitch. This must be done by 7pm the day prior to play and be ratified by the LCA Junior Coordinator. Both days play must be completed at the new venue. If use of the alternate venue is needed for two or more "washed out" games a team from the club providing the venue will be given preference. 17 7 DISTRICT POINTS Clubs are to ensure that player points and statistics are ready to be presented to the first District meeting after the finals round is played. In order to determine player district and club Awards at the end of each season players will be allocated points as follows: 0.01 points per run* (batsmen) 0.20 points per wicket* (bowler) 0.10 points catch (fielder) 0.10 points run-out* (fielder) Awards will also be given for: best batting average (runs divided by "outs") best batting aggregate (number of runs) best bowling average (wickets divided by runs) best bowling aggregate (number of wickets) * For Under 11\12 only the runs made by the batsman up to the first out in an innings counts. Subsequent runs are not to be included in the points tally or in My Cricket Player Scores. 8 TROPHIES AND AWARDS Premiers in each competitive division will be determined by the team finishing on top of the ladder in MyCricket using total points, wickets and runs (for and against) and run rate. The Premiers will receive a shield and Premiership Medals (for each player) from the Logan Cricket Association. Beaudesert and Jimboomba will organise and pay for their clubs district medallions and trophies and their half of any umpire fees for finals. The Association will organise medallions for the other clubs. The association will pay the costs of no more than $15 a trophy. Club contacts will be advised when the trophies\awards are ready for collection. District Shields and Cups for all grades\teams will be engraved by Logan any engraving for Beaudesert Teams will be paid by Beaudesert but arranged by LJCA. Mode of delivery (a) The umpire shall ascertain whether the bowler intends to bowl right handed or left handed, over or round the wicket, and shall so inform the striker. It is unfair if the bowler fails to notify the umpire of a change in his mode of delivery. In this case the umpire shall call and signal No ball. (b) Underarm bowling shall not be permitted except by special agreement before the match. 2. Fair delivery - the arm For a delivery to be fair in respect of the arm the ball must not be thrown. (a) If, in the opinion of either umpire, the ball has been thrown, he shall call and signal No ball. 3. Definition of fair delivery - the arm A ball is fairly delivered in respect of the arm if, once the bowler s arm has reached the level of the shoulder in the delivery swing, the elbow joint is not straightened partially or completely from that point until the ball has left the hand. This definition shall not debar a bowler from flexing or rotating the wrist in the delivery swing. 4. Bowler throwing towards striker s end before delivery If the bowler throws the ball towards the striker s end before entering his delivery stride, either umpire shall call and signal No ball. See Law (Batsmen stealing a run). However, the procedure stated in 2 above of caution, informing, final warning, action against the bowler and reporting shall not apply. 5. Fair delivery - the feet For a delivery to be fair in respect of the feet, in the delivery stride, (a) The bowler s back foot must land within and not touching the return crease appertaining to his stated mode of delivery. (b) The bowler s front foot must land with some part of the foot, whether grounded or raised (i) On the same side of the imaginary line joining the two middle stumps as the return crease described in (a) above and (ii) behind the popping crease. If the bowler s end umpire is not satisfied that all of these three conditions have been met, he shall call and signal No ball. 6. Bowler breaking wicket in delivering ball Either umpire shall call and signal No ball if, other than in an attempt to run out the non-striker under Law 42.15, the bowler breaks the wicket at any time after the ball comes into play and before he completes the stride after the delivery stride. See Appendix D. Laws 23.4(b)(viii), 23.4(b)(ix) and 10 below will apply. 8. Ball coming to rest in front of striker s wicket If a ball delivered by the bowler comes to rest in front of the line of the striker s wicket, without having previously touched the bat or person of the striker, the umpire shall call and signal No ball and immediately call and signal Dead ball. 20 10 APPENDIX B BLCA CODES OF CONDUCT The Logan District Junior Cricket Association (LJCA) fully endorses the following Australian Sports Commission (ASC) Codes of Behaviour. 1. Code of Behaviour Players Play by the rules. Never argue with an official. If you disagree, have your captain, coach or manager approach the official during a break or after the competition. Control your temper. Verbal abuse of officials and sledging other players, deliberately distracting or provoking an opponent are not acceptable or permitted behaviours in any sport. Work equally hard for yourself and/or your team. Your team s performance will benefit; so will you. Be a good sport. Applaud all good plays whether they are made by your team or the opposition. Treat all participants in your sport as you like to be treated. Do not bully or take unfair advantage of another competitor. Cooperate with your coach, team mates and opponents. Without them there would be no competition. Participate for your own enjoyment and benefit, not just to please parents and coaches. Respect the rights, dignity and worth of all participants regardless of their gender, ability, cultural background or religion. 2. Code of Behaviour Parents Remember that children participate in sport for their enjoyment, not yours. Encourage children to participate, do not force them. Focus on the child s efforts and performance rather than winning or losing. Encourage children always to play according to the rules and to settle disagreements without resorting to hostility or violence. Never ridicule or yell at a child for making a mistake or losing a competition. Remember that children learn best by example. Appreciate good performances and skilful plays by all participants. Support all efforts to remove verbal and physical abuse from sporting activities. Respect officials decisions and teach children to do likewise. Show appreciation for volunteer coaches, officials and administrators. Without them, your child could not participate. Respect the rights, dignity and worth of every young person regardless of their gender, ability, cultural background or religion. 3. Code of Behaviour Coaches Remember that young people participate for pleasure and winning are only part of the fun. Never ridicule or yell at a young player for making a mistake or not coming first. Be reasonable in your demands on players time, energy and enthusiasm. Operate within the rules and spirit of your sport and teach your players to do the same. Ensure that the time players spend with you is a positive experience. All young people are deserving of equal attention and opportunities. Avoid overplaying the talented players; the just average need and deserve equal time. Ensure that equipment and facilities meet safety standards and are appropriate to the age and ability of all players. Display control, respect and professionalism to all involved with the sport. This includes opponents, coaches, officials, administrators, the media, parents and spectators. Encourage your players to do the same. Show concern and caution toward sick and injured players. Follow the advice of a physician when determining whether an injured player is ready to recommence training or competition. Obtain appropriate qualifications and keep up to date with the latest coaching practices and the principles of growth and development of young people. Any physical contact with a young person should be appropriate to the situation and necessary for the player s skill development. Respect the rights, dignity and worth of every young person regardless of their gender, ability, cultural background or religion. 4. Code of Behaviour Administrators Involve young people in planning, leadership, evaluation and decision making related to the activity. Give all young people equal opportunities to participate. Create pathways for young people to participate in sport not just as a player but as a coach, referee, administrator etc. Ensure that rules, equipment, length of games and training schedules are modified to suit the age, ability and maturity level of young players. Provide quality supervision and instruction for junior players. Remember that young people participate for their enjoyment and benefit. Do not overemphasise awards. Help coaches and officials highlight appropriate behaviour and skill development, and help improve the standards of coaching and officiating. Ensure that everyone involved in junior sport emphasises fair play, and not winning at all costs. Give a code of behaviour sheet to spectators, officials, parents, coaches, players and the media, and encourage them to follow it. Remember, you set an example. Your behaviour and comments should be positive and supportive. Make it clear that abusing young people in any way is unacceptable and will result in disciplinary action.
