These guidelines are to be read in conjunction with the Handbook. It would be helpful if Convenors/Supervisors have a copy of these guidelines as well as the Official Handbook. All players should have a Handbook. They should be encouraged to keep it in their tennis bag to refer to if needed. Convenors names and Phone numbers are listed in the back of the Handbook. 2 -2- GENERAL POINTS: Saturday and Sunday competitions are 1-court competitions and spare courts should be allocated at your discretion. Ensure lines are swept before each set. Matches must commence on time with courts prepared prior to the match. Make sure correct players are on court for each set/match. Encourage all players to help with bagging and watering of courts in accordance with Stage 2 water restrictions and the clubs water plan. Adjudicate in any disputes that might arise and discourage the use of bad language, throwing of racquets or ball abuse. Warn the player concerned and if it continues talk to the supervisor in charge of that team. Then if necessary contact the teams Convenor or ring the Record Secretary. If there is no resolution then put a complaint in writing to the club concerned and a copy to Eastern Region Tennis. Spectators and any players not involved in a set must remain outside the confines of the court. Coaching is not permitted during a match and spectators/parents are not allowed to interfere with line calls, conduct of the match or communicate with opposition players in an inappropriate manner. Notification of team withdrawals or teams taking up a bye will be sent to the clubs concerned on ERT letterhead. Clubs cannot tell their opposition they have withdrawn a team. Scorecards must be kept until 2 weeks after the Grand Final in case the Record Secretaries ask to see the card. START & FINISHING TIMES: Junior Saturday matches start at 8.30am and must finish at 12.30pm Junior Sunday matches start at 9am and must finish at 1pm. Senior Saturday & Sunday matches start at 1.15pm and finish at 6.30pm See Appendix A in Handbook. Matches must finish at the times stated above. Any game underway can be completed. BALLS: Junior Teams use 2 new balls and 2 second handballs in good condition for Home matches. JDC use 2 new and 2 secondhand modified decompression balls in good condition for Home matches. Senior Teams use 4 new balls for Home matches. Appendix I in Handbook. Penalty for not providing new balls $20.00 FILLING IN SCORECARDS: Full name is to written on the card. Not just initials. Make sure the surname used is the same as that listed on the team entry.(same Spelling)-See Appendix J in Handbook. Monetary Penalty. Scorecard should be completed before play commences. At the conclusion of the match, the captain of each team adds up the scores, checks they are correct and then signs the card. If there is a dispute with the scores, write the problem on the back of the card and sign below the issue. the Record Secretary with a copy of the scorecard. Fill in the team names, section and date on the card. If a team is Green or Blue that must be put on the card. ertinc@netlink.com.au Web: Page 2

3 LATE ARRIVAL OF PLAYERS(Refer to Appendix B in Handbook): -3- If a team arrives without all their players but a set (any set) can be played within 15 minutes of the scheduled start time then the 1 st set cannot be taken from the team with a missing player/s. The team has one hour from the scheduled start time for the missing player/s to arrive. As long as any set can be played then you do not take a set from the opposition team If a team does not arrive with enough players to commence a set within 15 minutes of the commencement time then you can take the 1st set. If a team does not arrive with enough players to commence a set in the next 15 minutes then you can take the 2nd set. If a team does not arrive with enough players to commence a set in a further 15 minutes then you can take the 3rd set. Teams can play with 3 players in attendance forfeiting all sets of the missing player plus match points. GSD can play with 2 players. President Shield must have a full team. If the team does not arrive within one hour of the scheduled start time of play then that team forfeits the match. ONLINE ENTRY: Results must be entered online by 12pm on the Tuesday following the match. Late online entry will incur a Penalty. Appendix J in Handbook - $15.00 Juniors to Contact Cynthia McKenzie , Seniors to Contact John Quinn Access to Club Zone means you can download your players stats. Online entry for Last Round matches closes 12pm on the Monday following the match. FORFEITS: A club forfeiting a match must notify their opposition team and the Record Secretary. The team receiving the forfeit must enter online using the by phone icon on the right hand side of the scoring page. Enter your players names and click on forfeit. The team giving the forfeit does not enter the forfeit online. EMERGENCIES: Register your emergencies before they play on the back of the scorecard. Emergencies must not strengthen a team. Register a player for the lowest eligible section you want them to play and not just the team they played in that round. Emergencies cannot play in a lower section than their graded section. 4 -4- JUNIOR COMPETITION: Make sure a competent Supervisor is in charge at the Club and know what is expected of them. Registering a player in XSD will not cover a player being used in GSD or BSD. You can cross register players to cover this. Players listed in Singles/Doubles sections cannot play emergency in a doubles section.. If you play a player in a lower section than the team they are graded then you will lose that players set points and/or match points. You can get permission to use a player in a lower section for a match in extenuating circumstances by ing the Record Secretary and getting permission in writing. XSD, BSD, BD, GD, JOSD, JOD & JDC can play with 3 players. This avoids having to forfeit and get a monetary penalty. The missing players sets are forfeited and the team with all their players gets the match points. BSD & GSD Triples can play with 2 players. You do not have to play the 3 players in positions 1,2 & 3 or 2 players in positions 1 & 2. You can chose where they play. Eg 1,3 & 4 or 2,3,& 4. Or 1 & 3, 2 & 3 for GSD. If both teams are missing a player then points are awarded for those sets played and there are no match points. If the number 2 player from both teams is missing then those 3 sets are entered 0 0 JOSD & JOD can play any combination of girls and boys. JDC can play any combination of girls and boys. They play 8 game sets. President Shield is a 2 person team. Juniors must wear appropriate tennis attire. UNPLAYABLE CONDITIONS: Refer by law 13 page 12 in handbook SUPERVISION OF JUNIOR AWAY MATCHES: A supervisor or parent must accompany and STAY with Junior teams playing at away venues until the completion of the mornings match. It is the responsibility of that person to look after the team and deal with any issues that arise. Juniors who have turned 18 and can drive, cannot supervise their team. A parent/supervisor must accompany the team. Penalty for Supervisor not in attendance $25.00 Appendix J in Handbook ertinc@netlink.com.au Web: Page 4

5 -5- SENIOR COMPETITION: If you play a player in a lower section than the team they are graded then you will loose that players set points and/or match points. Make sure a Supervisor is in charge at the Club. Every effort should be made to accommodate visiting teams as well as home teams to create a friendly sportsmanlike atmosphere and provide afternoon tea. You can get permission to use a player in a lower section for a match in extenuating circumstances by ing the Record Secretary and getting permission in writing. Seniors can play with 3 players to avoid forfeiting and getting a monetary penalty. You do not have to play the 3 players in positions 1,2 & 3. You can chose where they play. Eg 1,3 & 4 or 2,3,& 4.
