Over the years, Parnell and SNL have fought out some very close and tense games Doug Winger hitting a 6 in the last over to secure the Jeff Crowe Cup in 2009/10 for instance. Saturday s game was no exception and the great and friendly rivalry continues unabated between our two clubs.

High pressure warm ups led by Ian Trott and Phil Horne.

2 Sadly, torrential rain wiped out Day 1. and, to quote Craig Speakman, it was a miracle that Day 2 s play started on time. Our 5 strip cover did the job well and Groundsman Dave Keane worked absolute wonders to get the pitch ready for play. Man of the Match Groundsman Dave Keane who worked like a trojan to get Day 2. started on time! High pressure warm ups led by Ian Trott and Phil Horne. Dave then won the toss and asked Suburbs NL to bat Back in whites Rav and Beenash opened the bowling. Keeping a tight line, only 26 were scored off the first 11 overs.

SNL s middle order consolidated but at 7/129 our hopes were high

But the kudos really goes to SNL s middle they upped the run rate

3 Billy Sanger, on debut for the Prems, claimed the first wicket Harypursant Singh caught behind by Ben, at 28. Tom Hill came on and took two wickets in one over 4/52 Dave leading the Prems out after lunch SNL 4/74 after 2 hours. SNL s middle order consolidated but at 7/129 our hopes were high that less than 150 would be needed. Dave Goddard also bowled well but two 6s off his last over spoilt his figures. But the kudos really goes to SNL s middle they upped the run rate and took their total to 167 without further loss. With the game reduced to just one day, a compulsory declaration ended the innings at that point. It was then our turn to face the music!

Dave Goddard hit a 4 then a 2 - just 2 to win, Then calamity, Dave was brilliantly run out going for a second run 9 down.

Enter no. 11 debutant Billy Sanger, two balls to face a miss, 2 needed for the win and just 1 ball. Billy got bat on this one and scampered 1 run only, scores tied, result a draw. Who said draws were dull? [Your Editor, at his bach, learned all this from Craig Speakman s regular texts and, later, the photos above. That Jeff Crowe Cup Final, 21 February 2010, Ken Maunder Park Last Saturday game brought back memories, the most vivid being our winning of the One Day Final in 2010.

Every run was cheered. Jimmy Neesham returned to bowl but let slip a second beamer and had to be replaced. The score mounted, Walshy avoided the strike as much as possible, Doug was masterful.

Ian Trott, now in his 9 th season at Parnell, has achieved amazing results with our Premier side. Our Premiers are current holders of the Hedley Howarth Trophy Two Day Champions) and, in Ian s time, have twice won the Jeff Crowe Cup for the One Dayers. Tim, the scorer of two Test centuries and is the all time highest scorer of runs and centuries for Auckland, continues to play at top Club level. He has just completed another most successful season for Sleaford CC in the Lincolnshire Premier League, UK and,last Saturday, hit the first 100 of the season for our Premier team. Jonathan and Simon are exceptional coaches for Parnell and for EDCA. Jonathan has had outstanding success with the EDCA U15 Girls and with EDCA Boys teams in Hawkes Bay. Simon, likewise, has had EDCA success and coaches our Premier Reserve Grade Mens team

Settle into our hotel in close proximity to the Iguazu National Park and spectacular Falls. Thursday 21st January 2016 Enjoy sightseeing in and around the Iguazu National Park including a short trip to Brazil and experience of a magnificent native bird aviary and a view of the spectacular Iguazu Falls from over the border. After 3 hours of entertainment and mixing and mingling transfer back to accommodation just in time to join the locals at one of the outstanding restaurants within walking distance of your hotel. Hotel Vista del Sol: Centrally located in the CBD of Buenos Aires, the Vista Sol is conveniently located for all public transport, and is only 100 metres from the famed Florida Street and the Galerias Pacifico Mall. A food lover's must - the neighbourhood of Puerto Madero is only 4 blocks away - experience Argentinian cuisine at its best! Accommodation includes breakfast. Sunday 24th January, 2016 You will transfer to one of the outstanding cricket clubs in Buenos Aires for first day of matches. Lunch is provided and the bars will be open during the lunch break and immediately after the game. Clubs that will be hosting fixtures include Hurlingham. Established in 1888, the Hurlingham Club hosts cricket, football, horse riding, swimming and tennis and had an excellent 18 hole golf course. The Club has outstanding restaurants and bars. Based on an English style Club, Hurlingham has a reputation for great facilities and excellent hospitality. Monday 25th January, 2016 A day at leisure in one of the great cities of the world and a chance to take an optional day tour. The choices are extensive and include the following The Classic City Tour, The Outdoors City and Shopping Tour, The Tigre and Delta Tour or a scenic ferry trip to Uruguay and the spectacular capital, Montevideo. Evening is free for another Buenos Aires dining experience.

12 Tuesday 26th January, 2016 You will again transfer to one of the local cricket clubs for the second day of matches. Again with lunch provided and bars open during the afternoon and at the completion of the game. Belgrano Athletic Club was established in 1899 as a rugby club and was one of the foundation clubs for the Argentinean Rugby Union. The first recorded cricket match was played in 1912 and featured a team from the MCC. First class cricket matches were played between 1927 and The Club recently hosted matches in the 2009 ICC World Cricket League Division Three. Wednesday 27th January, 2016 Another day at leisure to enjoy all that Buenos Aires offers. We will be heading for the Big Day Out Picnic Day at either Don Silvano Estancia or Santa Susana Estancia, enjoying a day of traditional cultural activities - song, dance, music and gaucho horsemanship. Includes a morning tea of traditional empanadas and a magnificent traditional asado lunch, along with a half bottle of local wine or a bottle of local beer. A cash bar will be available all day (and prices are really good). Thursday 28th January, 2016 You will transfer to another of the local cricket clubs for the third day of matches. Again with lunch provided and bars open. Lomas Athletic Club was founded in 1891 initially as a football club, then in 1899 rugby appeared and Lomas was another founding club for Argentine Rugby Union. The club's cricket ground held a first-class match in 1912 when Argentina played the Marylebone Cricket Club, with the visiting MCC winning by 2 wickets. This is the only first-class match to have been played there. The Club has hosted various touring sides and matches in both the Americas and the South American Championships. Friday 29th January, 2016 At leisure and another chance to enjoy an optional tour or perhaps just a stroll among the fabulous shops and malls interrupted only by a long and leisurely lunch-plenty to see and do. In the evening you will experience entertainment at either Tango Porteno or La Ventana, both offering an outstanding tango show with top musicians and dancers showing traditional tango at its best! A three course dinner is provided, accompanied by a bottle of wine between two or a bottle of beer each. A cash bar will also be available. Saturday 30th January, 2016 You will transfer to another enjoyable Club for the final day of matches. Lunch will be provided and the cash bar will be in operation. Following the game we will return to our hotel and prepare to transfer the Finale Dinner - 3 course dinner with plenty of entertainment, an open bar (soft drinks, beer & wine) and fun and friendship well into the evening. Following the party we will transfer back to our hotel. Sunday 31st January, 2016 You will check out of our hotel for the trip home or for some lucky people maybe head off on further travels through exotic South America.
