Modified 1* compulsories are standard 1* compulsories, with this single modification: kneel is permitted instead of stand. In horse events, a deduction of 2 points will be taken if a vaulter kneels. In barrel events, no deduction will be taken. 1* Compulsories are described in the 2018 Rulebook on page 102 as Copper/Trot and C/Trot Team, Preliary 2-Phase Team Compulsory Exercises (1*). 2* and 3* Compulsories are described in the 2018 Rulebook on page 99 as Description of Gold/Silver/Bronze, A & B Team Compulsory Exercises (2* and 3*) PLEASE NOTE that competitors in many classes are now limited to a defined list of allowable dismounts, listed in Appendix D of the amended 2018 AVA Rulebook as Proposed Dismounts Individual Copper and Individual Trot. Aerial exercises are those where the vaulter gains elevation after losing contact with the barrel; however, leaps are allowed.
